Chapter 239: First Round of Transactions
Endless bloodlines, all races die!
This was You Shen’s, the founder of necromancy, catchphrase.
The meaning it in resembled the change that occurred in the painting Cang Xu held – the undead did not belong to the creation myth. And the blood river was endless, for after the bloodlines mixed with each other and mutated, further and more complex bloodlines were formed. But regardless of how many bloodlines there were or how many new races were created, they could all become undead beings. Being undead was the final destination of all life!
By sampling this slogan somewhat, one could sense the necromancers’ arrogance as well as the terrifying ambition of the one who created it, Founder You Shen.
It’s no wonder the undead sect suffered the entire world’s pursuit and attacks.
Although Cang Xu had heard this slogan before, with his field of vision and lifetime knowledge, he wouldn’t be so easily agitated.
Right now, most of his attention was on the advanced inheritance.
This was a typical soul aspect necromancer inheritance.
It had many magic spells, most of which were used for transforming ghosts and making them better in certain fields.
Cang Xu quickly grasped the main points – Burden Alleviation spell and Karma Removal spell.
The Burden Alleviation spell could lighten the burden ghosts had on a necromancer’s soul.
With this magic, a necromancer could control more ghost subordinates, it was crucial for a necromancer to form an army!
As for the Karma Removal spell, one could see from its name that it was named after the eastern monks.
The creation of this magic indeed involved a few monk theories.
A portion of the eastern monks believed that whenever a person sinned, they would create karma, and this karma was a crucial element that would torment the living being after death. The more karma, the more one suffered after dying.
The Karma Removal spell was literal; it could reduce karma and lessen the torment after death. When used on a necromancer, it had greater importance – it could help a necromancer reduce negative energy erosion!
This inheritance greatly pleased Cang Xu.
He nodded at once, gave thanks to Jian Gui, then asked how much he needed to pay to acquire this inheritance.
“Oh ho ho.” Jian Gua once again magnanimously laughed, he acted very stylishly.
Not only did he let Cang Xu examine the inheritance ahead of time, but he also answered with, “Undead lifeforms of outstanding quality, money, valuable magic or information, and one’s own magic crystals can all be regarded as currency.”
He opened the transaction with a very relaxed manner.
Cang Xu had three silver level ghosts, this amount was a difficult burden on him.
He originally planned to peddle the three silver level ghosts during the gathering. But he didn’t expect that at the gathering, he would get an advanced inheritance with out a hitch.
With the Burden Alleviation and Karma Removal spells, he was now confident he could control three, no even more silver level ghosts.
Therefore, Cang Xu didn’t want to sell them.
He altered his plan at the last moment and stated, “Then I will use gold coins to pay. Lord Jian Gui, name your price.”
Jian Gui deliberated for a bit, then declared a number.
Cang Xu was surprised.
The price was very cheap, about half what it was worth.
He once again sensed Jian Gui’s benevolence.
Cang Xu paid with gold coins then had another request, “I also need a large quantity of undead materials, all kinds of alchemy materials, the most important of which are soul crystals.”
This provoked Xiao Wang Zi’s resentment, “Oi, newcomer, we let you do one transaction, you’re taken care of.”
“Your first round is finished, don’t win an inch and want a foot!”
Cang Xu paused, then hastily apologized.
Ku Feng then directed, “Please then, the second one is Xiao Wang Zi.
The skeleton child magician raised his skull, “I want soul crystals, the more the better.”
He raised his voice, but he was mainly looking at Jian Gui.
Ku Feng and Qi Ling didn’t say anything.
Jian Gui nodded, “This time, I brought a lot of soul crystals.”
Xiao Wang Zi immediately cheered.
He rejoiced when he completed the transaction with an exquisite bone tool to purchase sixty soul crystals.
Soul crystals were very important to necromancers.
Or to be more accurate, soul crystals were very beneficial to any undead life form.
It could grow one’s soul and substantially improve their spirit.
The hearts of the undead had long become necrotic, and were nonexistent, let along having any blood.
The force moving them outside of negative energy was soul power.
Soul crystals were the most valuable food for undead lifeforms.
The third transaction was with Qi Ling; she had the same request as the skeleton magician – soul crystals.
Jian Gui and she reached a deal.
The fourth was Ku Feng, he asked this: did anyone have any outstanding blade skills?
War Merchant’s database had collected sword battle skills.
But Cang Xu kept silent.
It wasn’t convenient for him to take them out because those kinds of battle skills were incongruous with his public persona.
Finally, it was Jian Gui and Ku Feng who came to a deal.
He traded Ku Feng a memory crystal.
Seeing this caused Cang Xu’s mind to shake, it proved that Jian Gui might have a memory modification device on him.
Cang Xu gazed at the memory crystal, feigning hesitation while actually probing information, “Could that be…”
Xiao Wang Zi proudly answered once again, “That’s right, that is the famous memory crystal.”
Before Founder You Shen created necromancy, he profanely scarified to the gods, and the memory crystal device was something he developed.”
Cang XU nodded, “That I understand, but to see one with my own eyes, it is my first time.”
This was another probe.
Cang Xu deliberately lied.
He was testing to see if Jian Gui and the others could really measure his lies, whether the Deceptive Disguise spell was working.
Cang Xu was put at ease, the others didn’t notice anything peculiar.
Jian Gui explained further, “Memory crystals aren’t as useful as the rumors say, there are many systemic problems with misusing them. It is liable to create memory derangement, causing people to have errors in self-awareness. If this derangement happens, returning them back is very difficult.”
“Under most circumstances when I use memory crystals, it is to cultivate a particular ghost.”
“You also know that after we successfully call back a soul, the ghost will lack memoires, unless they cultivated necromancy will they were still alive to a certain degree.”
“A lack of memories will cause a ghost’s value to tumble greatly.”
“For example, a swordsman ghost lacking memories on how to use sword skills will disappoint others with its combat strength.”
“With memory crystals filling in the blanks, the ghost can regain its military power and even improve it.”
“But one cannot use too many, and if one misuses them, it will cause the ghost to go mad, go out of control, and even crumble into nothing.”
Ku Feng issued a promise, “I will engrave Lord Jian Gui’s warning into my heart, and will never directly use the memory crystal. I will just pour battle qi into it and use my spirit to access the memory inside and treat it as a book I read.”
“The path of the blade has no shortcuts to walk, each step needs practice.”
If one takes shortcuts, it will instead lead far away from the legendary peak!”
Ku Feng carefully accepted the memory crystal.
Jian Gui was the last person in the first round of transactions.
“Oh ho ho, this time I have many wants.”
“The first one is an old one, if anyone has a corpse or bone aspect necromancer inheritance, I can trade for them.”
“Apart from that, any secret information on the Charming Blue Goddess is of great value to me.”
“Finally, I want an effective way to contact the legend level magician War Merchant.”
Cang Xu remained undisturbed, while his thoughts were being jolted.
“What is Jian Gui up to?”
“Why is he interested in Charming Blue Goddess and War Merchant?”
“He put forward that he wants an effective way to contact War Merchant, this conversely indicates that he once maintained contact with War Merchant?”
The survivors had been on Mystifying Monster Island and discovered War Merchant’s many identities. War Merchant used various identities to continue to deliver large amounts of product for the munitions market.
War Merchant was dead, and Mystifying Monster Island had completely disappeared, he had left a gigantic vacancy in the market.
Someone surely would have noticed and naturally looked into it.
This was what the survivors had surmised earlier.
Jian Gui seemed to be looking for War Merchant’s people.
But if it was just that, it wouldn’t make Cang Xu so nervous and bewildered.
Jian Gui also wanted information on Charming Blue Goddess.
Charming Blue Goddess’ divine artifact was the Mermaid Fairy Tale, which was currently on the Deep Sea Monster Fish.
“During the battle, the naga priestess treated the Deep Sea Monster Fish as a divine envoy, Charming Blue Goddess’ divine artifact was also kept in War Merchant’s central tower, perhaps the two of them really were collaborating in secret?”
“Why is Jian Gui looking for them?”
“He is no ordinary necromancer, he is an orthodox necromancer, his teacher is Captain Gou Hun, one of You Shen’s twelve disciples.”
“Maybe his request is not his own notion…”
“As a third party, he is simultaneously looking for War Merchant and Charming Blue Goddess, what does he know? What does he desire?”
Cang Xu was very vigilant.
“Don’t tell me he found out about Mystifying Monster Island’s disappearance?”
“Do I have some clues on me?”
“No, calm down. Jian Gui is just a gold level; the possibility that he can see through the Deceptive Disguise and Anti-investigation and Prophecy spells is miniscule.
Cang Xu strived to calm his agitated mind while secretly growing more alert.
If Jian Gui knew Cang Xu had a close connection to what he requested, one would fear he wouldn’t be so good-natured.
Although his mind had been moved very intensely, on the face of it, Cang Xu remained calm and collected.
He didn’t feign questions; he merely kept silent.
Xiao Wang Zi hung his head, “Those are rare things Lord Jian Gui wants, but I really can’t do anything about them, oh dear, I am too useless!”
Qi Ling shook her head, “I cannot betray my clan or my beliefs!”
Ku Feng shrugged his shoulders, “You know Lord Jian Gui, I have only been moving around Two Eyes Island for the last few years.”
Cang Xu was the last to respond, “Perhaps I can use Wisteria Merchant Alliance channels to make discreet inquiries for the pertinent information. But I cannot guarantee it will succeed, just as Lord Jian Gui has said, the current Wisteria Merchant Alliance has been broken utterly.”
Jian Gui nodded, expressing his thanks to Cang Xu, then consoled Xiao Wang Zi, before finally saying to Qi Ling, “You don’t need to struggle so, small fish, I understand you and respect your beliefs.”
The first round of transactions came to an end.
The strongest necromancer in the cave, Jian Gui, was actually the sole loser in these transactions.
