Chapter 182: Chi Lai Fires!
The priest evaded the pursuing Vinegar Jar while doing his best to reinforce the other human fighters.
Divine spell – Weaken Armor.
Divine Spell – High Speed.
The Wealth Priest’s main target was the closest to him, Zong Ge.
The High Speed divine spell doubled Zong Ge’s speed.
While the Weaken Armor divine spell affected the Steel Bone Knight fishman, decreasing his defenses.
With that aid, Zong Ge didn’t need to fully use speed increasing battle skills to ward off the Steel Bone Knight fishman’s lance image battle skill.
While his sword blade immediately gouged incisions into the fishman’s body.
The fishman’s steel bones no longer gave him a strong defense.
The pressure on the fishman knight multiplied, and for a moment, he suffered defeat after defeat.
When Yao Guan Zi saw this, he was hit with inspiration.
A moment later, he changed his attack target and no longer chased after the nimble Wealth priest, instead he headed for the fight between Zong Ge and the Steel Bone Knight fishman.
His choice was very rational.
It was hard to have an impact chasing the Wealth priest around.
Zong Ge was a silver level fighter, and compared to the priest, he seemed to be far slower.
More crucially, the fishmen’s silver level knight was already surrounded by perils, if he wasn’t reinforced, he might be slain in battle.
In the port battlefield, the fishmen’s side was already in a vulnerable state, their silver levels couldn’t be lost.
If one died in battle, it would set off a chain reaction that would lead to the other silver level fishmen being beheaded sooner, then the port battlefield would be won by the humans.
If the humans won, they would immediately clear up the new island and reorganize their defensive line.
Following this, if the fishman main force tried to land on the island, they would need to pay a more disastrous price to do so.
That wasn’t the main point, however.
If the human silver levels got their hands free, they could interfere with the gold level duels.
As for the others, Yao Guan Zi wasn’t that worried.
He was most worried about the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps!
Not long ago, they had taken on the gold level Rou Zang.
Seeing the Vinegar Jar heading towards Zong Ge, the dragonman youngster decisively ordered, “Fire!”
Chi Lai had been waiting for this order for a long time!
Right now, he was hidden in one of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships, in control of their gold level cannon.
After escaping the auction hall trap, he had followed the dragonman youngster and Zong Ge to the port battlefield.
The dragonman youngster and Zong Ge went into battle while he snuck into a ship to gain control over the gold level cannon.
The survivors had one gold level cannon.
This cannon had played a significant role when they faced off against Rou Zang.
Of course, successes should be recreated.
Therefore, early on, the cannon had been smuggled onto a ship. Its specific position was kept strictly secret, and only the survivors knew where it was.
When a battle appeared in the future, the formation shielding the cannon would restrain its aura to near nothing, allowing it to catch an enemy unprepared when it opened fire!
When Chi Lai came face to face with the gold level cannon, he found it utterly irresistible.
He was a gunner, a heavy gunner at that. Instead of high fire rate cannons, he liked cannons with a lower fire rate and stronger shelling power.
Chi Lai imbued his silver battle qi into the cannon, gradually bringing it under his control.
He didn’t rashly open fire.
The dragonman youngster had emphasized that he wasn’t authorized to start shooting yet.
He had to restrain himself.
Chi Lai had good military attainment and had been observing the port battlefield.
Even if the dragonman youngster hadn’t ordered him to do so, he, himself, wouldn’t have decided to recklessly attack.
The reason was simple.
The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships were frail.
When he opened fire, he was sure to be attacked on all sides.
Enemies would crazily attack, and they wouldn’t hesitate to pay silver level fishmen lives to destroy the gold level cannon.
This wasn’t the worst thing though.
The scary thing was that a gold level cultivator was bound to bring their ruthless hand down.
Because the gold level cannon was a powerful threat to them too!
When the Vinegar Jar had come ashore and displayed its terrible might, Chi Lai was more unwilling to open fire.
Compared to the light cannon turrets, ordinary ships were as weak as paper.
Two Eyes Island’s war situation was constantly changing.
The gold level battles were deadlocked, and when the priests came in to provide support, they had broken the port battlefield’s impasse, causing the Vinegar Jar to crush the ship Zong Ge was on.
“A chance!” Chi Lai keenly sensed his opportunity in battle.
If he attacked now, it would be hard for the gold level cultivators to respond to him.
The Vinegar Jar was getting closer at its own volition, and hitting it was a near certainty.
Furthermore, with the priests and other cultivators’ help, they could work together to wipe out the fishmen and secure victory on this battlefield!
But Chi Lai was constrained by the dragonman youngster.
Just as he was worried that the dragonman youngster was going to let this opportunity slip away, he received the order through an alchemy device.
“Fire!” The dragonman youngster’s order at that moment was the sweetest thing Chi Lai could hear!
After receiving his commander’s order, he immediately acted.
“Great Justice God, my Lord!”
“The sinister enemy is close at hand; I need thy prestige and strength to beat back evil and danger.”
“We must let the people know that justice will always defeat evil!”
Divine spell – Mark Evil.
Divine spell – Justice Cannon!
The glory of the first divine spell fell from the sky and onto the Vinegar Jar, denoting it as an evil enemy.
The second divine spell’s power was imbued into the gold level cannon, then condensed into the artillery shell loaded in it.
The divine spell violently fluctuating instantly attracted the attention of the fishmen.
“Not good!” Yao Guan Zi realized things were getting bad and immediately opened fire.
The Vinegar Jar’s bottom cannon mouth immediately jetted out a water shell towards the ship.
The dragonman youngster wanted to help, but it was beyond his reach.
If Chi Lai hadn’t used a divine spell, the ship’s concealment formation wouldn’t have leaked any aura. But after he had done so, he instantly revealed himself and the alchemy cannon, drawing the enemy’s timely attacks.
Several spherical water shells fired, each the size of an elephant.
They whistled through the air, and when the smashed into ships, they would tear their hulls into splinters in a flash.
Chi Lai faced this fatal crisis with a confident smile.
His square face illuminated with the light of the Justice God, giving him an increasingly resolute appearance.
Bang!
A moment later, the cannon fired.
A gold level cannon.
A gold level artillery shell!
The entire cannon mouth seemed to eject a gigantic pillar of light.
At the very front of the light pillar was the gold artillery shell.
The artillery shell pierced hulls without any hindrance.
The white pillar of light stung eyes; none could look straight at it.
The formidable artillery shell squeezed air into a spatial ripple.
Several water shells were in front of the gold artillery shell.
Bang, thump, slam…
The gold artillery shell smashed through the water shells, its speed only decreasing a mere 20%.
Yet, under everyone’s shocked eyes, the artillery shell drilled into the Vinegar Jar’s hull.
The hull had remained invincible against all other artillery shells.
Bang.
The sound was deafening.
The rapidly spinning and momentous silver level magic ship was suddenly damaged heavily.
It suddenly came to a standstill, its forward momentum completely offset.
After rotating half a circle, it began to fall.
The Vinegar Jar was shaped like a water jar, and now, the water jar’s circumference touched the ground, while the bottom was perpendicular with it, totally exposed to everyone before it.
“The Vinegar Jar!!!”
“Only one shot…incredible.”
“What was that?”
The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps…gold cannon! How could I forget about it!”
The entire port went silent for a second because of this cannon, then soon after, shouts of alarm continuously arose and resonated to the skies.
Huff, huff, huff…
Chi Lai gasped for air; his arms propped up his body on the fiery rear section of the cannon.
He had been building up his power for that one attack.
He had depleted much of his battle qi, carried out prayer, and had used a divine spell.
After attacking, too much of his strength had drained away; he felt like collapsing.
But at the same time, he also felt an intense invigoration.
“How long has it been since I fired such a cannon?”
“Perhaps joining the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was the right choice.”
In that moment, Chi Lai had greater and more beautiful hopes for his future in this mercenary corps.
“Outstanding!” Zong Ge sincerely exclaimed in admiration to himself, “If it were me, it would have produced an immense explosion, brining smoke, dust, and disaster to the surroundings.”
“But Chi Lai didn’t.”
“His artillery shell’s power was concentrated in once place, allowing him to penetrate the Vinegar Jar entirely.”
The gold level artillery shell had gone through the front of the Vinegar Jar, then out the back, creating a convex protrusion as it exited.
Large amounts of poisonous water leaked from this hole.
The humans and fishmen who weren’t able to get out of the way and were soaked by the water softly groaned, and fell to the ground, poisoned to death.
Chaos reigned around the Vinegar Jar.
The fishmen cried out in panic, their morale dipping.
The humans got out the way, their battle intent growing more vigorous.
Cough, cough, cough.
Yao Guan Zi violently coughed in the control cabin.
He looked on the verge of vomiting out all of his blood.
Although the cannon merely brought misfortune to him, he had sensed the strong aura of death at that moment.
He had used all of his strength to beat Commander Tie Bang and Beng Dai.
That his ill, barely clinging on body had driven the Vinegar Jar into many light cannon turrets could be said to be a small miracle.
His body was already at the edge of collapse.
That it hadn’t yet was entirely due to his own willpower.
When the Vinegar Jar was shot, Yao Guan Zi’s life aura also fell too, and in a flash, it had reached rock bottom.
Sensing his life aura change, the humans hesitated, worried that this was an enemy trap.
Xi Dai Zi’s heart grieved, he knew Yao Guan Zi would die where he lay.
He called to Peng Din Zi to disengage with the dragonman youngster and to go to the Vinegar Jar.
The dragonman youngster growled and pursued close behind.
The spiky fishman was forced to stay behind and stop the dragonman youngster for the time being.
On the other side, the Steel Bone Knight fishman acted according to circumstances, attacking while retreating in an attempt to converge with Xi Dai Zi.
“Stop him!” The Fertile Land priest shouted.
“Stop right there.” The Wealth priest promptly interfered, barring Xi Dai Zi’s way.
“Shi Fa!” The Wealth priest called his helper.
Shi Fa, with playing cards whirling around him flew into the air and waved them into the hole in the Vinegar Jar.
In an instant, a dozen playing cards traveled through the hole and flew into the Vinegar Jar.
Bang, thump, boom.
The playing cards’ magic triggered.
The Vinegar Jar was bombarded by multiple magics.
“rlnagrlanlrm”
Xi Dai Zi wailed, calling Yao Guan Zi’s full name.
Yao Guan Zi’s life aura completely faded.
“Well done!” The Wealth priest exclaimed.
Shi Fa had killed Hong Bo, eliminated Yao Guan Zi, and proved that the Vinegar Jar was empty.
“Seize the ship!” The first to respond was Zi Di.
She expressed her opinion to the dragonman youngster via alchemy device.
