Chapter 164: Er Gua Zi
“What happened?”
“Those must be magic traps Hun Trong had deployed.”
“I know. But why is he blowing us up?”
“Damm you Hun Tong!”
Some on the ships encountering these beatings reprimanded severely, while far more were hard pressed.
On the seafloor, Zi Di was watching and thought, “These are just magic traps, only able to activate and shut down, there is no foundation to them.”
“If they could be freely turned on and off, there would a central hub. The construction cost of one is quite high and the large scale of it would cause it to be more easily exposed.”
“After all this is the ocean, not an underground city.”
Zi Di was a magician and a merchant. She had cultivated both paths at the same time and could determine some things.
Therefore, she understood Hun Tong’s arrangements.
The ships charging out were trapped and in an awkward situation.
Ahead of them were numerous hidden magic traps.
Behind them was the bitter port battlefield.
Continuing to forge ahead would trigger the magic traps.
If they returned, they would need to keep fighting. The crux was that if the port was blocked, the consequences would be disastrous.
The Vinegar Jar Pirates didn’t need to storm the port, they only needed to open fire to cause terrible losses to the humans.
Because these ships were anchored, they were all sitting targets and due to their close proximity to each other, none of them could move out of the way.
As the humans were hesitating, the Vinegar Jar Pirates attacked.
Both sides entered shelling range.
Compressed water shells shot out in succession.
They shot straight through the seawater.
The water around them swelled into knolls as they quickly approached the human ships.
The human ships were unable to intercept such artillery shells.
One after the other, the knolls struck the ships, meaning the shells underwater had hit their target dead center.
For a moment, explosions rang out continuously.
The humans sank into chaos.
Large holes split open the bottoms of their ships, and as seawater bubbled in, there weas nothing they could do to stem the flow.
Not only were shells hitting from underwater, but there were also things hitting from the air.
Xi Dai Zi controlled an alchemy device, and the water that soaked the decks converged into two streams that flew into the air like large pythons.
The water pythons exploded in the air, changing into a shower of acid rain.
The acid rain covered the human ships completely.
In a split second, a strong vinegar smell assailed the nostrils and formed a strong acidic mist.
Som of the human sailors inside the acidic mist were stricken with malaria, and others spat out teeth, the teeth had been corroded by the acid.
The weaker sailors collapsed to the deck, and after violently cramping for a spell, they went limp.
Death by acid.
If it was the port, the Vinegar Jar Pirates would have some misgivings, after all there were many fishmen compatriots still on it.
But on the sea, there was only human ships, and so they could release all of their tricks to bombard a large area.
The Vinegar Jar displayed its ferocious firepower!
The human ships suffered heavy losses and were stunned for a short while.
Although they had many ships and people, they had no leader, they were a rabble.
Under this bombardment, some ships chose to fire back, some chose to flee in another direction, and others simply returned to where they’d come from, rejoining the port battle.
These many choices made the situation chaotic.
Some ships turned around, some ships put away their sails and prepared to shell, this led to interference with each other and even collisions.
Er Gua Zi’s eyes flashed with a biting cold.
He was commanding the flagship and took the lead to charge into the human ships.
The long serpentine line of Vinegar Jar Pirates, with the Vinegar Jar at the forefront, destroyed all in their way.
Its hull was like a sharp knife that easily cut through the human ships like “cake”.
“Open fire!”
After cutting through the enemy fleet, the Vinegar Jar Pirates did broadsides, none lacking the booming of artillery.
The human ships struck burst into flames, wood shavings and blocks flew, and humans screamed, with some of them being blown into the air, arms or thighs snapped off and fell into the deck or sea.
Some had even worse luck.
Ammunition stores were detonated, creating an even bigger explosion that instantly destroyed a ship’s movement and battle strength leaving only scant survivors to abandon ship as the ship swiftly and violently sunk, their bow or aft still raging with flames.
The Iron Lump and the White Bandage chose to keep evacuating.
The various hidden magic traps were a huge threat to ordinary ships, but these magic ships were sturdier.
They imitated their enemy.
The Vinegar jar could wade into the traps, so the Iron Lump and White Bandage decided to try too.
They wanted to escape, but Er Gua Zi would never let them go.
Whether it was the Iron Lump or the White Bandage, both were key targets in the fishmen’s intelligence.
To the fishmen, leaving these two magic ships to their own devices would make them a considerable menace to them.
“If we let them go now, it’ll be ten times more troublesome to deal with them in the future!” Er Gua Zi understood things clearly.
Plop.
He jumped into the sea.
He didn’t have any flying battle skills, but he was a fishman and could swim. Not only that, but he was a stronger combatant in the water.
Er Gua Zi swam at lightning speed and slammed into the bottom of the White Bandage.
The White Bandage shook tremendously, and everyone on board turned pale.
A wave of water rolled up like a countercurrent waterfall and washed down onto the deck, clearing a large area of it.
The wave waned, leaving the gold level fishman fighter Er Gua Zi standing proudly on the deck.
The human fighters trembled in fear as they surrounded him, but no one dared to attack him.
Er Gua Zi coldly snorted, killing intent boiled up in his heart, and he launched his massacre.
None was his match!
White bandages wrapped around him like pythons.
Er Gua Zi slapped many bandages back with his palm his gold level battle qi oscillating through the air.
A moment later, many more bandages attacked from all directions.
Er Gua Zi didn’t dodge or duck, he let the bandages wrap around his legs, arms, waist, and back.
In an instant, he was trussed up.
Battle skill – Scale Severing Blades!
All of his fish scales glistened with gold luster.
Soon after, battle qi formed into fish scales large and small that fluttered around him in untold numbers.
The white bandages were cut clean by the small blades.
Without the binds, Er Gua Zi continued his slaughter.
The strongest mercenary left on the White Bandage was at best iron level, they were never Er Gua Zi’s match.
Very quickly, all of the Bandage Mercenary Corps’ experts were slain by Er Gua Zi’s hand.
More fishmen swam over and helped Er Gua Zi take over the White Bandage.
Er Gua Zi, covered in watery blood, jumped back into the sea to pursue the Iron Lump.
When the Iron Club mercenaries saw this, all of them opened fire with numb scalps to stop Er Gua Zi’s approach.
Artillery shells smashed into the ocean, creating layers of waves and jets of water.
This caused Er Gua Zi to dive a bit deeper.
He quickly climbed onto the Iron Lump and was just about to carry out another massacre when he heard a gigantic rumble from the island.
Er Gua Zi changed color.
He knew the auction hall trap had been broken, Hun Tong and the others had regained their freedom!
And the port battle hadn’t subsided yet.
Er Gua Zi’s goal of controlling the port hadn’t been attained yet.
It had to be said that the magic traps delaying them granted this opportunity. The Iron Lump, White Bandage, and the other ships had used their lives to slow down the Vinegar Jar Pirates’ assault.
Now, Er Gua Zi’s best choice was to accelerate his slaughter efficiency and after dealing with the Iron Lump, continue charging the port, rushing to establish the local war situation before Hun Tong and the others could.
What made him grateful was that although he was on the Iron Lump, his first mate Xi Dai Zi was still leading the fleet towards the port.
Based on distance, they would be the first to arrive.
“Finally escaped.”
“Something has happened, it’s the fishmen!
“Those wretched people, they dare to attack imperial territory.”
The liberated cultivators were swearing in high spirits.
Hun Tong immediately flew high into the air.
The others soon gazed into the distance.
As Hun Tong looked down on the island, his complexion sank.
Numerous cultivators all looked towards the port as if by prior agreement.
“The light cannon turret and many other places have fallen into enemy hands.”
“The port is a strategic location; it cannot be lost too.”
“My fleet!”
Some cultivators were shouting, others were howling in grief, and one by one, all of them murderously gazed towards the port.
The Vinegar Jar looked like a rude and unreasonable magic beast, not decreasing its speed as it crashed into the port.
The anchored ships near it were smashed.
After crashing through five ships, the Vinegar Jar hit dry land and grinded many costal buildings to slag.
Magic had finished brewing already.
Standing on the coral pillar, Xi Dai Zi aimed a finger at Cang Xu in the distance.
An icy ray shot out at razor sharp speed.
Cang Xu spun in the air and attempted to evade.
But the icy ray was under Xi Dai Zi’s control; he quickly changed its trajectory and easily hit Cang Xu.
Cang Xu was slowly greatly by this magic.
The spiky fishman howled with laughter, approached Cang Xu, and smashed Cang Xu’s hand with his wolf teeth club.
At this critical moment, Cang Xu still kept his calm.
He was just about to grit his teeth and use necromancy when he suddenly stopped.
Boom!
A fiery figure fell from the sky.
An iron fist smashed down, pounding the spiky fishman back.
Layer upon layer of deck was shattered, the exploding fist punching the spiky fishman into the water.
Battle skill – Demolition Fist.
The spiky fishman coughed out blood, and his two perfectly round fish eyes revealed his unconcealed shock.
“What did you want to do to my magician?” The dragonman youngster shook his dragon trail, restrained his fist, and looked down at the spiky fishman from the hole in the decks.
“Commandeer!” Cang Xu finally had strong reinforcements, and despite being a necromancer, he couldn’t help but be moved.
