Chapter 121: Cannon Transaction Part 2

The dragonman youngster denied they had a relationship with the Wisteria Store.

It was undoubtably wise.

Before they redeemed themselves, they had to reduce the connection between them and their past relations to prevent exposing flaws and causing people to investigate them.

This clever arrangement was already working.

The two merchant alliances managers didn’t detect the truth and had unexpectedly sought the dragonman youngster to deal with the Wisteria Store.

This had allowed the dragonman youngster to firmly hold the initiative from the beginning of these talks.

The dragonman youngster said, “The Wisteria Merchant Alliance cannot compare to the six great merchant alliances, let alone two managers joining hands.”

“Since you’ve found me and have also convinced the other two commanders, you must be determined to win.”

“But as far as I know, the city guard is the biggest consumer of the Sweet Blood Potion. But I believe that since you are speaking to me right now, you have already resolved that problem.”

“Therefore, I am the last one left.”

“Am I to believe that if you don’t reach an agreement with me, your strenuous efforts will be in vain? Won’t that mean you’re running the enterprise for the sake of one basketful?”

The two managers glanced at each other, their features very grave.

They felt somewhat regretful and blunderful. By bringing Commander Beng Dai and Tie Bang with them, instead of looking strong, they divulged their weakness.

But if they didn’t do that, they were worried that during talks, they would be suppressed by the dragonman youngster’s grandeur. After all, Commander Long Fu’s martial fame had already spread throughout Two Eyes Island. These last few days, more people have seen the dragonman youngster dive into the sea and wipe out entire schools of magic fish alone with their own eyes.

In the end, even with two commanders on their side, the dragonman youngster still held the advantage.

Unlike what they feared, the dragonman youngster didn’t flaunt any martial skills, instead he used words to hold the initiative.

The hearts of the two merchant alliance managers was heavy, and they began to raise their offer.

The dragonman youngster smiled and was noncommittal toward the new offer, expressing that he needed to discuss it with the other members of his corps.

He got up to leave the room, telling them to wait for him to return.

The four people left in the room, Commander Beng Dai and Tei Bang, along with the two managers, didn’t look too well.

The Secret Merchant Alliance manager coldly snorted, “What is there still to discuss?”

“This is obviously an excuse.” The Flint Merchant Alliance manager pursed his brows in vexation, “It seems we need to raise the offer a bit more.”

The dragonman youngster went to a lonely corner, and with an alchemy communication device, contacted Cang Xu and Zi who were on the ship at port and informed them of the situation.

Cang Xu sighed, sensing this would be challenging, “The Wisteria Store on Two Eyes Island is obviously being suppressed, the other powerful party has already succeeded, and it will be difficult for us to stop it.”

Zi Di deeply sighed, “So money is just secondary, and without power to protect it, there will be no impartial transactions.”

Power came from strength, and strength was intimately related to bloodlines.

At that moment, Cang Xu and Zi Di were further motivated to build the Bloodline Purification formation.

The dragonman youngster replied, “I’ll listen to your ideas, are you trending towards agreeing with cooperating with them?”

Cang Xu nodded, “Noncooperation will worsen the relationship between the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps and two great merchant alliances. The Wisteria Store’s future is still dark, and our main focus has never been the Wisteria Store. But if we work with them, we can purchase a large amount of alchemy materials from the Flint Merchant Alliance and medicine from the Secret Medicine Merchant Alliance.”

Zi Di frowned, “I agree to working with them. But I believe that trading with two great merchant alliances is risky. I would rather buy from the black market and the discount sale to decrease exposure risk. Don’t underestimated the two great merchant alliances, they can make out much non-public information from the transaction list.”

The dragonman youngster suddenly interjected, “I have a better idea.”

“We need cannons, remember?”

“For the last several days, the massive beast tide has been pressing towards Two Eyes Island. It will be difficult for us to continue leaving the harbor, because the surroundings won’t have enough space to sail our fleet while we fight.”

“Next, we need to defend the island.”

“We experienced that type of battle on Mystifying Monster Island.”

“We need to meet force with force, unlike before, where we could move around enemy and calmly put distance from them.”

“Under those circumstances, cannons are undoubtably more important.”

Since the establishment of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, they had a deficiency of ordinary cannons.

Although Two Eyes Island’s business was bustling, it wasn’t an arms manufacturing location. In fact, in the conventional market, weapons were very difficult to buy.

Although the marketplace didn’t have any, the two big mercenary corps, along with the city guard and patrol fleet had them.

When the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps wanted to buy cannons from Commander Tie Bang, the latter rejected them.

What about this time?

The dragonman youngster’s analysis and suggestion caused Cang Xu’s and Zi Di’s eyes to light up.

Cang Xu voiced his thoughts, “I support the Lord Commander’s idea. Replenishing our cannons will boost the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps substantially. If we fight the beast tide in close combat, our ordinary members will incur high casualties. We will have to make numerous compensation payments. By replacing them with artillery shells, we will greatly reduce casualties. Currently, we have enough financial resources, and enough artillery shells.

Zi Dia also agreed, “This is indeed a good opportunity. I have a premonition, although I can’t be sure about the city guard, the two commanders will agree.”

After a proper discussion, the dragonman youngster returned to the room and told the four his demand.

Of course, this caused the two merchant alliances to look heavy, and the two commanders to turn pale.

The two commanders rejected it on the spot.

“Soon, we will need to withstand the beast tide coming to Two Eyes Island.”

“Cannons are always important.”

“We cannot sell off our weapons at this juncture!”

The dragonman youngster smiled and stated, “When it comes to defending the island, we aren’t the leads. Could it be that you commanders haven’t figured out how the wind is blowing?  This responsibility should be the city guard’s and the patrol group’s to assume, no?”

The two commanders’ brows wrinkled, and one shook his head.

It’s a bit ridiculous.

They came here to just help the two managers in their negotiation, yet it resulted in them not getting what they wanted and instead becoming the target themselves.

Especially when they saw the two merchant alliance managers, the two commanders’ hearts sank.

Although their refusal was very firm, with the current situation, they were no longer confident.

Because the situation was out of their control.

The dragonman youngster’s mouth twitched into a smile, gazing at the two commanders, then at the two managers.

The two merchant alliance managers looked at each other, then both bitterly laughed.

The Secret Medicine manager looked at the two commanders, wanting to say something, but hesitated.

The dragonman youngster understood tact, and withdrew again at his own accord, “I will go first, you guys can chat privately.”

He left the room, went to the end of the second floor’s corridor, and through a window, appreciated the evening streets.

Before waiting too long, the door opened and the four walked over to tell the dragonman youngster the outcome, “Commander Long Fu, we agree to your conditions!”

Just as Zi Di had calculated, the mercenary corps and merchant alliances were inseparably close, leading to the latter finding it hard to refuse.

Because it concerned the two mercenary corps’ future livelihood.

Weapons are very important for the beast tide right now.

But now that the deal was struck, it only felt a bit bad presently.

The two merchant alliance managers gave their guarantee and set the pact that they would definitely work more with the two mercenary corps in the future.

The two commanders understood that they were using this moment in exchange for the future, thus, they reluctantly agreed.

The two managers were in a similar situation, their sunk costs were quite high.

The two commanders had already agreed to stop using the Sweet Blood Potion and helped the two managers in the deliberation with the dragonman youngster. After investing so much, and traveling to this degree, if something was rejected, the consequences would be unacceptable for them. The past investments and upheld relationships would be gone.

The next dawn, both sides completed their deal.

Through this, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps finally got a lot of cannons and finally filled in this deficiency.

Although their cannon holes weren’t completely full, there was still some empty, but 80% of them were filled.

The dragonman youngster took charge and mainly equipped Zong Ge’s troops first.

The reason was his troops were more elite and would benefit the most from them!

“We unexpectedly got a hold of these?” Zong Ge was surprised but pleasantly surprised at that.

After asking about the whole story. The half beastman felt admiration.

Cang Xu and Zi Di were able to handle it on their own because they could see the situation clearly, understand the structure of the strong and the weak, and acted rationally and calmly.

And how the dragonman youngster handled things made Zong Ge even more certain that he hadn’t misjudged the young man.

“He puts the big picture first, such an outstanding leader.”
