Chapter 102: Water Path vs Necromancy

Xi Dai Zi didn’t dare take risks and was forced to withdraw his long whip.

Controlled by his spirit power, the long while circled around Xi Dai Zi like a spiraling pillar to obstruct the three fireballs.

Bang, boom, bang.

The three fireballs struck the circling whip, and all exploded at nearly the same time.

For a moment, flames radiated all around, causing smoke and dust to billow up.

The thin person and the others dodged in a panic.

“Run away!”

Xu Ma had been looking for this chance, and immediately turned to jump over a wall and run.

The thin person and the others had their hands full already, and as the building was teetering from more fireballs, Xi Dai Zi’s full attention was on the mysterious magician who had thrown them, no one cared about a nobody like Xu Ma.

Smoke and fire scattered to reveal Xi Dai Zi still standing there tall.

He had a layer of water covering his body. The light blue water protection reflected the light and was clear and crystalline. Its spherical shape was dented by the explosions.

Xi Dai Zi’s glamour was also damaged, his human appearance was flickering between that of a human and his true fishman features.

The black gowned magician responded with another quick and fierce fireball spell.

Xi Dai Zi had either used disguise magic or an alchemy device, either of which was now broken.

It was unlike the Deceptive Disguise spell the survivors used. That magic used pearl bubbles, a gold level casting material, and was the world’s greatest disguise magic. Even if one died, as long as the magic was still in effect, they would still be disguised.

Xi Dai Zi rigidly stared at the black gowned magician and began to chant.

For a moment, water in the water ball defense surged forth as Xi Dai Zi’s life aura constantly rose.

It was clear a powerful move was being prepared.

But at that moment, the black gowned magician used three more scrolls.

Bang, boom, bang!

An additional three Fireball spells.

The thin person and the others trembled: where in the world did this ferocious person come from? They were smashing them with spell scrolls!

Already, they had used 7 scrolls.

Although they were just iron level, they had already spent more than 10 gold. This amount of money was sufficient to buy a silver level weapon.

Blood leaked from the corner of Xi Dai Zi’s mouth.

During his casting process, a fireball explosion had interfered and almost caused his cast to fail.

The black gowned magician suddenly retreated!

Xi Dai Zi howled internally, “Don’t you run away!”

It wasn’t that he couldn’t cast while moving, it was just that he couldn’t right now.

Because he still needed to maintain his water defense.

This caused him to look on helplessly as the black gowned magician disappeared from his field of view.

“You guys aren’t pursuing?” Xi Dai Zi bellowing in his heart as he glared at the thin person and the others.

He was unable to voice that thought.

Because he still needed to chant.

The thin person and the others were very hesitant.

The strongest among them was only a bronze level, how could they stop the indiscriminate barrage of fireballs?

Magic spell – Three Headed Water Snake!

Xi Dai Zi’s cast finally finished, and a large stream of water rushed from his water sphere defense and turned into a three headed water snake that impatiently pounced onto the exit gate.

“Give chase!” Xi Dai Zi ordered the thin person and the others, then stepped onto the three headed water snake’s tail, and being the first to give chase.

At this time, the black gowned magician wasn’t that far away.

Xi Dai Zi madly followed the trail in pursuit.

The three headed water snake was huge, and like a mammoth sized elephant, toppled all buildings and vendor booths that stood in its path, causing the streets to be filled with cries of fear as everyone fled in all directions.

“Where are you thinking of escaping to?” Xi Dai Zi sneered; he had finally blocked the black gowned magician in a dead end.

The black gowned magician unexpectedly pulled out 6 scrolls.

Bang, boom…

Six fireballs volleyed at Xi Dai Zi.

But this time, Xi Dia Zi was in a far better situation.

He didn’t use his water ball defense, instead he moved into the three headed water snake.

Unlike humans, he was a fishman who could breathe in water.

The fireballs all detonated upon impacting the three headed water snake.

With a deafening explosion, large portions of water turned to steam and caused both water and fire to splatter and splash all over.

The impact waves formed also collied with each other in the alley.

Xi Dao Zo lost eyes on the black gowned magician; however, he was still grinning with killing intent.

“Today, I will kill you!” Xi Dai Zi’s spirit had already locked onto the black gowned magician.

He could instantly detect whenever the black gowned magician acted.

However, a moment later, something strange occurred.

An immense ghost passed through a wall and ambushed Xi Dai Zi from behind.

Xi Dai Zi sensed the ghost’s aura, but it was already too late to protect himself.

The ghost had obviously been lying in wait and had attacked suddenly and violently.

It stretched out its hand and plunged it into the water snake.

Although its speed had been reduced, it still easily stuck its hand into Xi Dai Zi.

The translucent ghost hand penetrated Xi Dai Zi’s chest, grabbed it, then pulled its hand back.

Xi Dai Zi’s neck had a pendant around it.

At that moment, it exploded and emitted a divine light hued deep blue.

The divine light protected Xi Dai Zi and thrusted the ghost ruthlessly back.

The ghost withdrew.

Xi Dai Zi staggered to a kneel.

He unconsciously turned around, and the only thing he could see in the steam was the waning silhouette of the enormous ghost.

For a moment, Xi Dai Zi’s heart filled with fear.

“I fell into a trap!”

“I couldn’t see my mistake, that was a ghost, a silver level ghost!”

“The other person is actually a necromancer!!”

“No wonder they always used magic scrolls…”

“It’s only thanks to my sacred emblem that I remain alive. That ghost must also be heavily injured too.

“Firstly, I must retreat first!”

Xi Dai Zi’s fighting spirit dropped completely.

His soul was wounded, his spirit was disorganized, his brain was in great pain, and he had already lost his lock on the black gowned magician.

In fact, even if his spirit was still locked on, Xi Dai Zi didn’t want to continue the pursuit.

Although the other person was an iron level, they were nevertheless a necromancer.

This magic school had just sprung up, and Xi Dai Zi lacked the skills to respond to it.

He had been taking refuge in the three headed water snake, whose defensive power far surpassed the water ball defense, however, the ghost ambush had slowed it, and it wasn’t able to defend him any longer.

Xi Dai Zi controlled the water snake, and he retreated.

“Ah…” As he retreated, he heard a few miserable shrieks.

The thin person and his people had suffered a vicious attack.

Xi Dai Zi once again sensed the fluctuation of necromancy and his heart couldn’t help but sink, “The other party still has energy to spare!”

At that moment, a fighter shouted, “The city guard is arresting thieves, all outsiders retreat!”

“They came so quickly?” Xi Dai Zi was actually faintly happy.

He took out a fish scale and used magic to cloud the scene.

Then, he revoked the water snake and used the fog to quickly evacuate.

When the fog dissipated, the city guard commander and their men were standing in front of the ruins with ugly looks.

The commander waved their hand, and their subordinates charged into the ruins and searched them.

There were no corpses.

Only the traces of a magical struggle.

“Fire path…this should be from a Fireball spell explosion.”

“Water path traces, it looks like a water snake, at least a two headed one. The water fog from before must have been casted by a silver level water path caster.”

“Hold on, this is necromantic aura?!”

When the scouts found that, one by one, their faces changed.

“Could it be that a necromancer participated in this fight?” The city guard commander’s look grew even uglier.

A necromancer appearing and another faction’s magician appearing were two completely different things!

The city guard commander didn’t dare tarry, and hastily dispatched a messenger to report to Feudal Lord Hun Tong.

Bai Ya was looking around a street corner.

Xu Ma quietly jumped over a wall.

He clapped Bai Ya’s shoulder.

Bai Ya jumped in fear, but when he saw Xu Ma, he shouted in pleasant surprise, “Senior, you’re back!”

“When I saw you had been gone a while, I called the city guard over.”

“Of course, I employed a beggar and had him notify them on my behalf.”

“Senior, you’re wounded?!” When Bai Ya examined him, he noticed that Xu Ma’s injuries weren’t light.

“Great job!” Xu Ma praised, then grunted through the pain, “But we need to leave now. Quickly, the city guard is likely to set up blockades nearby, we can’t stay here for long.”

Xu Ma was still in shock by the time they returned to the ships at port.

He really had walked the edge of death.

After recalling the pursuit, Xu Ma was filled with bewilderment.

Especially on one question.

“Why did that black gowned magician suddenly burst in?”

“What conflict did he have with the thin person and Xi Dai Zi?”

Xu Ma thought it through and felt that wasn’t right.

Whether it was the thin person, or Xi Dai Zi, both were unfamiliar with the mysterious black gowned magician.

An idea suddenly flashed through Xu Ma’s mind, “Don’t tell me the black gowned magician was following me?”

“Did he sense that I was investigating him?”

Although Xu Ma had made up his mind to skimp on this mission, on the surface, it seemed he had labored to get into position, and as a result, had a string of investigative inquiries into this.

At least, he had investigated the black gowned magician who had appeared in the store.

“If that is the case, wouldn’t I have the black gowned magician’s eyes on me?”

“It is precisely because I was being watched by him that he was attracted over.”

“Then why did he instead save my life?”

“No, all of this is merely guesswork, there is no evidence of anything.”

The more Xu Ma thought, the more chaotic his emotions became and the more his mind filled with cold sweat.

“No matter what, we can’t stay on Two Eyes Island any longer.”

“From now on, I will stay on the ship and won’t get off even if I die!”

Xu Ma made up his mind.”

“That’s right.”

“My wounds are so severe; I must recuperate for a while.”

“This information should be enough to report this mission completed!”

The city palace.

The city guard commander, head covered in cold sweat, knelt towards Feudal Lord Hun Tong and reported the conclusion of the investigation,

“A necromancer?!” Hun Tong eyes widened, and he pressed his palms into his desk, the startling news almost caused him to stand up.

“Arte you certain?” Hun Tong asked.

The city guard commander took a deep breath, summoning the courage to reply, “It has been confirmed. The scene has a strong necromantic aura in it.”

Hun Tong sat back down and leaned back on the chair, revealing a powerless look, “A strong necromantic aura, it might not necessarily be a necromancer, perhaps it is an undead life form.”

The city guard commander shook his head, “But Feudal Lord, you also know that area. How could an undead life form suddenly appear from nowhere?”

“According to imperial law, if a necromancer is discovered, we must report it immediately.”

“Report it?!” Hun Tong glowered at the city guard commander, the pitch of his voice rising, “And let those madmen from the Blood Light Punishment Institution in? What’s going to happen to my auction? My Two Eyes Island will be overturned to the heavens by them, who would dare trade here from then on?!”

The city guard silently bowed his head.

Hun Tong gasped from breath a few times, then asked, “Who knows about this too?”

The city guard commander whispered out, “All of those that followed me in my investigation know.”

Hun Tong couldn’t help but clench his fist.

“Get lost!”

“Get out of my sight!!”

He threw an ink bottle at the city guard commander’s head.

The ink bottle smashed into the city guard commander’s face, dying him with black ink.

The city guard commander seemed to have been excused, and he hastily departed the study to get as far away as he could from his raging feudal lord.

Hun Tong was the only one in the study.

He let out a long sigh and took out an alchemy device from his drawer.

This was a communication device.

Hun Tong activated and said, “Report, what is going on?”

The alchemy device glimmered brightly, and slightly vibrated as a voice was transmitted, “You know, I wasn’t there. I don’t know much. I had finished negotiating with Xi Dai Zi and he was just about to leave. The final thing of the discussion was when he declared that there were two stakeouts.”

“One of the stakeouts wasn’t one of us. After noticing this, Xi Dai Zi and my men immediately pursued them.”

“Soon after, I heard an explosion.”

“Someone came to the rescue of the other person.”

“The one who came should be a necromancer. According to what we can infer from the marks at the scene, in the beginning of the fight, the necromancer used some magic scrolls. He and Xi Dai Zi confronted each other, then he feigned retreat.”

“Afterwards, in the second battlefield when they confronted each other again, Xi Dai Zi was ambushed, and it is unknown whether he is alive or dead.”

“All of my people are missing, everything about this bodes ill.”

The person reporting to Hun Tong was shocking the thin person’s superior!
