Chapter 101: The Mysterious Magician Appears Again
Xu Ma shrank into the corner, motionless as the dead.
Everything had greatly surpassed his expectations.
In his mind, he only had to deal with the thin bronze level person, the others were ordinary people. An ambush had a high chance of success.
But he no longer thought of doing that, now that he had run across Xi Dai Zi.
He was a fishman shaman, a silver level caster!
Xu Ma was dispatched to investigate a iron level masked magician, he had been skimping on that task greatly because he was worried that it would be killed for doing that. Now, he had encountered a far more formidable caster.
“What terrible luck, I have the worst luck!”
“Can’t let them find me, I mustn’t let them find me.”
“Great Shadow God, Thief God, bless and protect me from detection…”
Xu Ma was fully aware of how much danger he was in, and like walking across a tightrope between precipices, perhaps he would die at any moment.
He used his battle qi to diminish his aura as much as possible.
At the same time, he began to ponder how he was to retreat.
But fate didn’t give him time.
As Xu Ma decided his retreat route and was about to move, the conversation between the two had concluded.
Xi Dai Zi got up, “It’s time, I’ll go first.”
The alchemy device transmitted the backer’s voice, “Xi Dai Zi, why are you worried? Leave tonight, let me entertain you.”
Xi Dai Zi sneered, “I’d rather entertain you after Two Eyes Island is under my group’s control.”
The backer was unconcerned by that and continued on, “Seizing Two Eyes Island is a big matter, how can this short conversation clear everything up about it? We’ll have a proper discussion, trust is the foundation, no?”
“Trust…we really do need more trust.” Xi Dai Zi muttered, “The best way your group can earn our trust is by doing your best to destroy Two Eyes Island’s defenses. The easier we can seize it, the more we will trust you.”
“Rather…” When Xi Dai Zi said that, he sneered, “There are two hidden stakeouts present at our meeting. They are two mere bronze levels. I wanted to kill my way out of here, Hun Tong couldn’t stop me. That wasn’t necessary. Are you looking down on me?”
The backer burst into laughter to dull the awkwardness.
But the thin person had a smile on his face.
During the conversation, Xi Dai Zi and the noble backer had reduced him to a tool.
But as he smiled, his eyes contracted to the size of needles.
The higher up backer was still laughing, but Xi Dai Zi, inside the room, was looking at the thin person’s changing face. That caused him to immediately purse his brows and felt a tinge of wrongness.
Xi Dai Zi glared at the thin person and asked, “What’s wrong?”
The thin person stammered, “Lord Xi Dai Zi, you. You are sure there are two bronze stakeouts? I only, I only had one set up.”
Xi Dai Zi was startled, then a moment later, his eyes flashed and without thinking, he smashed the wall next to him with his fist!
Ding!
The wall crumbled before his fist.
Xu Ma dodged in a panicked flurry.
The moment the two people’s conversation reached that point, Xu Ma realized things were bad and had accelerated his withdrawal ahead of schedule.
If he hesitated any more, he would have been hit by Xi Dai Zi’s fist that if it didn’t kill him, would have left him crippled!
“Run! Run! Run!” Xu Ma’s brain was filled by that one thought.
He rolled to discharge the shockwave of the blow and desperately ran away.
“Stop him!” The thin person glimpsed the back of Xu Ma, loudly screeching upon instantly realized he wasn’t one of them.
When the bronze stakeout that was lying in ambush and the gate guards heard that, they attacked Xu Ma.
Xu Ma dodged left and right, and at that moment, all of his strength burst out.
Although his potential was nearly depleted, his long legs and feet combined well with the Spider Walk battle qi technique and various battle skills. For a moment, he dodged across walls, frantically ran away, and actually wriggled his way out of the encirclement.
The thin person was both anxious and furious.
“Useless people!” Xi Dai Zi coldly snorted as he acted again.
He took off his belt, and in a flash, turned it into a whip.
The whip had an unusual shape, it was thin, long, had a sleek appearance, and looked like a lengthened snake tail.
Crack.
Xi Dai Zi flung the long whip, and its tip snapped into the air.
Right away, a bolt of lightning burst out and shot at Xu Ma’s head. Before colliding with him, it turned into a net woven from small electric currents.
The large net was very wide, and Xu Ma had no time to evade it as it covered him.
The electric current ran through his body, throwing his battle qi into chaos, causing him to tremble all over, and then fall to the ground. Due to his inertia from running, he rolled across the ground/
Xu Ma stopped at the courtyard’s large gate.
“Kill him, leave no witnesses!” The thin person screeched again.
Soon after, guards rushed over, lifted their weapons, and aimed them at Xu Ma’s forehead, neck, heart, spleen, anus, and other places that would be harmed by stabs.
Xu Ma was fully paralyzed, including his tongue, and his mind was even more dizzy.
But as death approached, he was greatly stimulated!
His body contained the Dark Walking Spider bloodline, and although his concentration wasn’t high, he still had a fantastic ability. Whenever death approached, he would feel a chill.
And now, Xu Ma felt that chill, but not just one, but rather five or six.
It chilled especially violently in his buttocks.
“I’m going to die!”
Xu Ma’s heard thudded, and before death came, his eyes opened wide as he did his utmost to struggle free, however, this only resulted in his body shuddering more.
His muscles were still being shocked, and they couldn’t hear the commands of his brain.
Xu Ma’s eyes closed, showing his heavy hopelessness.
He lay on the ground and looked up at the courtyard gate. It was obviously only a few steps away, nevertheless it was the chasm between life and death.
Bang!
A fire ball suddenly flew out and crashed next to Xu Ma. The shockwave of the rolling flames launched both Xu Ma and the others into the air.
The unlucky people that were the closest screamed as they died.
Xu Ma was also injured, for after being thrown into the air, he crashed into the ground hard.
The pain caused him to grimace in pain, but his heart was nevertheless ecstatic, “I’m still alive, I’m actually still alive!”
Cough cough.
He spat out some blood. His body was lacerated and heavily burned, there was still flames burning on his left leg.
He turned over into a kneel, then extinguished the flames with a pat.
Acute pain in his back began to emerge and was growing more intense.
Xu Ma tenaciously grinded his teeth and glanced around him, discovering that the guards pursuing him were in a more miserable state than he, and for the moment, weren’t bothering him.
Xu Ma shifted his gaze towards beyond the courtyard.
From where the fireball had come from, stood a single person.
The person was dressed in all black and wore a mask that seemed to be made of black iron. The flickering flames reflected against the glossy metal.
Xu Ma blankly stared at them, and thought to himself, “Don’t tell me that’s the mysterious magician I was supposed to investigate?”
“Who came to the rescue?” Xi Dai Zi was rigidly fixed on the black gowned magician, then looked at the thin person.
The thin person wildly shook his head, “I don’t recognize him, hold on, don’t be mistaken. We are also victims here!”
The tin person gave an order to the surviving guards, “What are you doing, kill them both for me.”
But the guards groaned.
They had been too crowded together and were more severely injured than Xu Ma was.
Because Xu Ma had been lying down while they were standing up.
Despite hearing the order, none of the guards budged.
Xu Ma let out a breath and retreated back a few steps without a trace left behind.
The mysterious magician attracted the majority of attention, allowing Xu Ma to easily put distance between them all.
But he was also very perceptive and didn’t leave the scene.
If he did this, he was bound to provoke the others greatly and be the center of attention once more.
“Fight, stand and fight now.” Xu Ma shouted to himself. Only by fighting and muddying the situation could he fish himself out of troubled waters and have a hope of fleeing this place alive.
“What kind of person are you?” Xi Dai Zi growled out a question.
The mysterious black gowned magician coldly snorted and had no intention of replying. He bent down his arm and took out a scroll from their spacious cuff.
As the scroll fell, the skilled magician pinched it and utilized gravity to unroll it.
A moment later, the magician’s spiritual power activated the scroll.
The scroll’s engraved magic script suddenly flashed, and soon after, the scroll’s pentagram formation leapt out and appeared in front of the magician.
Within a second, the formation and magic script lit up with eye dazzling light.
Magic power converged extremely quickly, like a gust of wind.
A fist sized fireball coagulated into being, and with a shout, launched towards Xi Dai Zi.
Xi Dai Zi was on guard, and when he saw the magic scroll being unrolled, he reached for his belt.
His belt was no ordinary thing, it was a silver level magic item.
The instant he took off his belt, it transformed back into the long whip.
The long whip cracked through the air, stretching 5 meters and accurately hitting the fireball.
The fireball had enormous explosive might, but after being struck by the whip, its magical might was instantly cut in half.
Although it still exploded, it didn’t achieve the ideal result.
“An insignificant iron magician…” Xi Dai Zi was resentfully offended.
He was a majestic silver level!
“What made you think I was so weak?” Xi Dai Zi turned his wrist, and like a snake, the long whip lashed out through the air, flying quickly towards the black gowned magician.
The black gowned magician stood in place and did not move nor dodge.
He suddenly took out three scrolls from his spacious cuff.
The scrolls all opened at the same time, all of them Fireball spell scrolls.
Three formations condensed, and from magic script, three fireballs fired at Xi Dai Zi.
Xi Dai Zi’s face changed; he was both startled and furious.
The other party didn’t protect themselves, rather they attacked. It was extremely likely they had defensive equipment they were confident in.
Not only that, but the other party also wasn’t using their own spells, instead they were using magic scrolls.
Thus, they could cast far quicker than he.
Most of all, the other party was using offense in place of defense, prickling Xi Dai Zi!
If this was a naval battle, and Xi Dai Zi had pirate accomplices, he would have adopted an attacking formation. But he was on humanity’s Two Eyes Island, and if his identity was exposed, the consequence would be difficult to anticipate.
