Chapter 97: Dividing the Money
Zi Di nodded to the dragonman youngster, “There will be some trouble.”
“But it won’t be a big issue.”
“The reputation of our two potions is already widespread.”
“This is Two Eyes Island; Hun Tong is watching. Besides, the auction is coming, and even if the Secret Medicine Merchant Alliance wanted to cause trouble, their hands are tied.
When Zi Di said that she then suggested, “Perhaps, we should leave some people here so the Sweet Blood Potion and the Green Hat Healing Potion can provide a stable income.”
“When we redeem ourselves in the future, we still need to continue living.”
“By grabbing hold of this business opportunity, our future lives will be more comfortable.”
When she saw her sweetheart, the ghost girl couldn’t help but think freely of how beautiful their future would be.
The dragonman youngster also nodded, “Indeed, we must consider our future.”
“We need solidarity in power, not just wealth, but we also need comrades.”
“But at present, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps has expanded too much, the silver level is fine, however, our control over the iron levels and the bronze levels is quite frail.”
“We need Lan Zao, Bai Ya, and the rest to stand up and help.”
“We live and die together, and by the tribulation of Mystifying Monster Island, we trust each other.”
As commander, the dragonman youngster had a clear understanding of what state the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was in.
“At the moment, we need money to buy equipment for them. In the future when we have the Bloodline Purification Formation, we can change their aptitude and gifts. From that base, we can widen their limits. I believe that as long as the Bloodcore is preserved, along with ample time to grow and conduct business, our future will be unimaginable.” The dragoman youngster’s ambitions were bottomless.
Zi Di had convinced him.
“Then lend it to them.”
“In the future, we can also build a capital treasury for the mercenary corps and design a way to select the best talents. Through appropriated funds from the treasury, we can subsidize teams filled with loyal members.”
Zi Di’s line of thought gradually diverged.
If the Bloodline Purification Formation was built, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps would complete a qualitative change.
They didn’t need to gather the exceptionally gifted, only those that were loyal. With bloodline alteration, they could manufacture talents by the batch and create a formidable force!
Through the captain room’s window, they could see the port.
The early morning port was tranquil.
The sun had just risen; its yellow light mixed with the ocean’s still coldness as it illuminated the side of the dragonman youngster’s face. Ot others, it seemed to look like the dragonman youngster was bathing in a layer of heart gladdening radiance.
Lan Zao walked in, “Your Lordship. You summoned me?”
He knelt to the floor and looked up at the dragonman youngster behind his desk, his gaze showing respect, love, adoration, as well as a trace of devotion.
Lan Zao’s experience on Mystifying Monster Island had always tormented him.
The dragonman youngster had saved his life.
He had not only saved Lan Zao in body, but also in spirit.
Especially during the Snake Rat naval battle, when the dragonman youngster had dragged him out of his ocean of regretful sorrow.
To Lan Zao who had nearly drowned spiritually, it had been no less than salvation for him.
Fron now on, he could face his sins.
So long as he followed the young man, Lan Zao believed firmly that he too could walk the path of righteousness.
Therefore, in Lan Zao’s eyes, no matter how much the dragonman youngster’s appearance changed, the latter’s nature was always the same.
The young man was brilliant flag that guided him forward.
“Please give me your commands. No matter the mission, I will do anything to complete it!” Lan Zao’s sonorous voice and expression revealed his inhuman determination.
Upon seeing Lan Zao like this, the dragonman youngster couldn’t help but think, “If this comrade is unworthy of our help, who would be worthy then?”
A moment later, the dragonman youngster smiled, “Stand up, Lan Zao. No need to be so zealous.”
Lan Zao stood up perfectly straight, like a knight always waiting for their sovereign king’s command.
He would not hesitate to brave any danger if commanded!
“Recently, the situation hasn’t been well?” The dragonman’s eyes penetrated Lan Zao, keenly observing the purple bruises on the latter’s arm and chest.
For the last few days, Lan Zao and the pirates had fought on multiple occasions.
The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ immense expansion was overall stable due to the silver level leadership, the dragonman youngster and Zong Ge, suppressing those beneath.
But hidden in the lower levels, there was nevertheless chaos.
This was the world of the strong, and people worshiped the strong.
Lan Zao’s identity as a survivor was strictly kept secret, and the recently joined pirates only knew him as a mercenary that had joined the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps on Snake Rat Island.
As time went on, if they just joined later, why should he be valued more? Why was he placed as one of the bronze level leaders?
Lan Zao didn’t seem that strong!
“Don’t tell me I have to be under a weaker person?”
“Can’t I climb up?”
These kinds of thoughts lingered in the minds of the former pirates, spurring them on to find trouble with Lan Zao.
Lan Zao had encountered many confrontations and challenges.
Although drawn swords were unlikely, occasional fist fights were still painful.
Crucially, Lan Zao’s displayed battle strength wasn’t convincing enough.
When faced with the dragonman youngster’s question, Lan Zao tightened his lips and looked ashamed, “I am very sorry to have disappointed your Lordship.”
He thought that the dragonman youngster would excoriate him, but a moment later, he heard the young man laughing, “Hehehe. Relax, no need to be so anxious. I have always believed that you would assume personal responsibility. Lan Zao, we have fought side by side many times. I know that you have potential, that there is much you can improve on.”
But Lan Zao was dour, he treated those words as mere consoling, “My Lord, my bloodline is no good, I have already unearthed all of my potential and reached the peak of my life already.”
“No, you have not. You haven’t used the Bloodline Purification Formation yet.” The dragonman youngster said to himself.
Lan Zao was still a cultivator, even though his limit was the bronze level.
But as long as they found a better bloodline in Lan Zao, utilized the Bloodcore to absorb lifeforms that had it, then used the Bloodline Purification Formation on him, then they could improve Lan Zao’s bloodline concentration.
This was the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ main goal.
Since the Deceptive Disguise Formation and the Anti-investigation and Prophecy Formation were already built, medicinal testing of bloodlines with and building the Bloodline Purification Formation were now the most important development goal.
Lan Zao didn’t have hope in himself, but the dragoman youngster had great expectations for him s till.
Of course, since this plan concerned the Bloodcore, he couldn’t speak about it right now.
The dragonman youngster took out a bag of money, got up, and placed it in Lan Zao’s hands.
“Go to the island and buy some equipment.”
“Your Lordship!” Lan Zao’s heart shook.
He unconsciously wanted to refuse.
“I won’t permit your refusal!” The dragonman youngster solemnly displayed his might.
Lan Zao instantly stopped moving.
“Consider it a loan.” The dragonman youngster clapped Lan Zao’s shoulder and continued to console him, “You don’t need any burdens. After you become stronger, you will stabilize your position as the bronze level leader. This will be helpful for our Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.”
“This subordinate understands!” Lan Zao took a deep breath; his eyes were red with dripping tears.
He really needed this money!
By the time he left the captain’s room, he had already wiped away his hot tears and cleaned up his face.
He clutched the pouch to his chest.
He didn’t want to show weakness, he would answer the young captain’s expectations and become the strongest bronze level!
The afternoon ocean surface reflected the sun’s sharp arrows.
The dry heat caused mercenaries to hide in the ship holds.
Anyways, on the port.
The morning training had exhausted many mercenaries, and after eating their lunch, all of them were sleeping heavily.
Zong Ge was studying his training manual in his captain’s room.
Tripleblade had come to visit, he didn’t look well, “My Lord, there is a matter I must inform you of at once. This morning, the commander over that distributed a lot of money.”
“Lan Zao, Fei She, Mu Ban, Qiao Shan, and even Bai Ya were given some.”
Zong Ge had been amending the training manual. When he heard this information, he didn’t raise his head and his pen didn’t stop, he continue to write as he said, “For the last few days, the potion sales have been prosperous, it seems they have obtained a lot of capital.”
“Previously, the mercenary corps’ funds were in short supply, now this problem has been greatly alleviated, this is a good thing.”
Tripleblade’s brows tightly wrinkled, “But we haven’t gotten any money.”
“The potion recipes come from War Merchant’s database and the Magic Medicine Bathtub is our shared spoil of war. We deserve a portion of the profits from the produced potions.”
“Furthermore, all the others got some, why not us?”
Zong Ge shook his head, “There is an issue with your words. Indeed, the recipes and the Magic Medicine Bathtub belong to everyone.”
“But the raw materials for the potions were purchased with the 300 gold coins that came from Zi Di’s Wisteria Merchant Alliance.”
“She only used the recipes, the Magic Medicine Bathtub, and the alchemy cabin, that’s it.”
“It was her medicinal abilities and business methods that allowed her to be profitable.”
Although Zong Ge didn’t understand business, he had a broad scope on things. On Snake Rat Island, he experienced how amazing Zi Di’s business finesse was.
“Besides Zi Di, no other person could accomplish this.”
Tripleblade grinded his teeth, unreconciled, “But when she refined potions, she depleted much of the Deep Sea Monster Fish’s magic power.”
Zong Ge chuckled, still immersed in revising his training book, his brief words had silenced Tripleblade, “Do you really think that someone as shrewd as Zi Di would leave behind such obvious leverage? I believe that she has already replenished the magic power. After all, elemental crystals are very common, especially on Two Eyes Island, where they can be effortlessly purchased.”
Tripleblade did not reply.
Zong Ge then asked, “How was the money specifically given out?”
“Everyone has differing amounts. It is entirely divided up according to status. According to them, these are all loans that will be repaid in the future. Besides, if one wanted more, they could make a request.” Answered Tripleblade.
“Good.” When Zong Ge heard that, he sincerely exclaimed in admiration.
On the surface, it seemed that directly giving people money won over the people’s hearts.
But the detriments outweighed the benefits.
If an organization wanted to expand, their foundation was their laws and standards.
Relying on the kindness of charity to win over the people would inevitably make things murky. Humans had different emotions; how could one calculate how one would react to that?
It would end up with benefits and emotions entangled together. Envy, suspicion, unwillingness, jealousy, grievances, and all other sorts of feelings would form internal friction, and no organization could walk far with that present.
It was an incorporeal pitfall, but the young man and woman had stepped across it.
After crossing it, they could suddenly see far more.
