Chapter 692: Snow Bird Harbor Battle – There Really Are Pirates

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord held a short rod in both hands and used all kinds of spells and battle skills one after the other to suppress Tan Mo to take the upper hand.

His battle style was very gorgeous, and light and shadow changed in a spectrum of color.

A rod descended and pounded Tan Mo in the belly.

Tan Mo was smacked downwards, his body bending like a lobster as he coughed out spit.

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord smashed him with a thunderbolt, causing Tan Mo’s hair to stand up amidst black smoke.

“Hey, hey, hey, you’ve done enough! Why are your attacks so ruthless?” Tan Mo secretly transmitted.

Within a few short minutes, he had been badly battered.

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s face was filled with hostility and anger, roaring “Pirate, I shall slay you here!”, while also transmitting, “Perform well, don’t expose any flaws. At this stage, this is all I can do!!”

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord had to admit from the bottom of his heart that violently beating Tan Mo like this really was partially due to him venting his anger.

Were it not for Tan Mo, why would he use so much gold for bribes? Were it not for Tan Mo, he wouldn’t have planned to have Tan Mo pretend to be a pirate and attack the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps. Were it not for Tan Mo, his magician tower would have been running normally and would never have exploded!

The magician tower was gone!

This was too big a loss, and in accordance with kingdom law, as the top person in charge, Snow Bird Harbor City Lord had to compensate for it. Because Snow Bird Harbor was not his territory, and the magician tower was not constructed and funded solely by himself.

The magician tower was built with public funds.

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord didn’t just need to pay out a few hundred thousand gold coins, but at least a million!

His losses weren’t limited to the magician tower.

The pirate attack and the magician tower exploding, these were grave dereliction of duty that was bound to be an immense blotch on Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s record.

The future would be more annoying.

After the magician tower exploded, Snow Bird Harbor City Lord felt distressed about the future. Since the core defense that was the magician tower had been blown up, Snow Bird Harbor’s defenses had fallen to an all-time low, and it would surely attract actual pirates over that would plunder it.

In other words, after this battle, Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s days would be very difficult.

The losses in front of him were disastrous, but the future would be even worse!

Before this operation, Snow Bird Harbor City Lord had total control over Snow Bird Harbor and his beautiful achievement of cleaning up the Bayonet Gang gave him bright prospects.

But now, Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s political prospects had taken a dramatic turn and been enveloped in haze.

“Hehehe..” In a distant corner, Hun Tong couldn’t help but laugh when he saw Tan Mo’s battered appearance.

“You wretched schemers!”

“He’s gone too much into his performance.”

“They are obvious allies, yet they have to beat each other up. What an original way of getting vengeance, it’s quite novel.”

Hun Tong joyfully thought.

Especially because he knew the inside story and understood that Snow Bird Harbor City Lord was currently swallowing his blood and tears, painfully putting on this show.

Tan Mo was getting worse.

He obviously had strength, but he couldn’t display it. He had to use widely known battle skills to disguise and mask it.

While he was unable to display his power, Snow Bird Harbor City Lord was using his full strength to prove himself.

Through this back and forth, Tan Mo would naturally take a beating!

Hun Tong happily narrowed his eyes, watching this with ever more gusto.

He glanced at where the dragonman youngster was standing, suddenly thinking, “This arrangement of Long Fu’s, could it be that he is actually a very vengeful person?”

Hun Tong secretly analyzed it.

He had very complex emotions about the dragonman youngster and the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

In the past, he had a good opinion of the dragonman youngster and the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps. Because during the battle of Two Eyes Island, Long Fu and the others had an impressive performance and were a cornerstone on the battlefield. Hun Tong appreciated them greatly and sincerely wanted to recruit them at a high price but didn’t succeed.

Afterwards, when Hun Tong was framed by Tan Mo, Dao Hen had saved him, something the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had nothing to do with.

However, when Hun Tong and Dao Hen were spying on Tan Mo’s and Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s conspiracy together, he knew that the massive wealth he kept in his mind constantly had ultimately fallen into the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ hands.

Although he still didn’t know the truth, he believed the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps seized it from the necromancer.

“But they were the ultimate benefactors.”

“They took my money.”

“Those were mine; they should have returned it to me. But they didn’t do that, instead they traveled to Ice Sculpture Island and disposed of them here!”

Could Hun Tong understand the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps?

Of course he could.

If he were the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, he would have made the same choice, after all who would give such great wealth?

But while he could understand, Hun Tong couldn’t forgive them.

“Oh, how I awaited those riches!”

“Without it, my Two Eyes Island was left in ruins and oh how I suffered!”

“Tan Mo demanded bribes, and if I had that money, would I have been framed by him?”

Thinking this, Hun Tong automatically felt strongly aggrieved, secretly bitter, and resentful.

When Dao Hen got a divine oracle and after Hun Tong was forced to sign a contract upon meeting the dragonman youngster, his attitude changed again.

“What is the connection between the god behind Dao Hen and the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps?”

“A cooperative relationship? Or is the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps a pawn of that unknown god too?”

“It has always been said that the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was an agent of an arms merchant, but I have seen no evidence of that. Perhaps that was a disguise?”

Hun Tong began to realize that this matter was far from simple.

He also didn’t know which god Dao Hen believed in. But he was an intelligent person and through the limited clues, he could guess and analyze.

The trail was actually very clear.

It could be determined that Dao Hen likely believed in an ocean or a fishman god.

This unavoidably caused Hun Tong to make further connections.

“Hold on, is the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps involved with the Blue Green Coral Fishman Clan?”

When the Blue Green Coral Fishman Clan attacked Two Eyes Island, a naga priestess and others from the Fishman Holy City had provided their strength.

Initially, Hun Tong rejected this connection.

After all, during the battle of Two Eyes Island, the fierce fighting and disastrous blood price paid by both sides meant it was unlikely to be a performance.

“But what if it was a trick of self-injury to gain the enemy’s confidence?”

“The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps and the Blue Green Coral Fishman Clan are actually on the same side. But using this trick of self-injury and establishing each other’s identities. These groups could split apart and use the residents of Two Eyes Island and even me as witnesses.”

“If it is like this, then the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps is my foe! Tan Mo framing me and Dao Hen saving me was also within my enemy’s calculations!”

“Am I currently serving my foe right now?”

Hun Tong looked tranquil, while his heart was in chaos.

Bitterness, powerlessness, fear, suspicion, inquisitiveness, hostility…all these feelings were considerably complex, but outwardly, he showed an obedient bearing.

One under a roof was forced to lower their head.

Hun Tong chose to compromise, and he performed proactively and obeyed all orders completely. While secretly, he planned to reduce the other’s vigilance, investigate the truth, distinguish the enemy and him, and look for an opportunity to escape as much as possible.

Hun Tong’s attitude to this unknown god was reverence, wariness, and faint hostility.

His loyalty was still to the Sheng Ming Empire.

Ding.

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s rod hit Tan Mo on top of the head, causing the latter’s head to shudder, and his body flashed back in retreat.

Tan Mo had a splitting headache, and he snarled, “[Emancipator], enough!”

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord immediately transmitted, “We have already signed a contract, what are you afraid of? Keep the show up, that is the correct path.”

Tan Mo glared back, “You fool! Our true enemy is the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps! What are you thinking, not attacking the true enemy and instead making things difficult for allies?”

When Snow Bird Harbor City Lord heard that, he suddenly grew more furious, “As of now, do you really think I can attack the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps as city lord with you ‘pirates’?

“Let me sober you up a bit.”

“Since this matter has reached this stage, even if your teeth are broken, you will have to take it! Our performance must go on!”

Tan Mo naturally didn’t want to do that, and he transmitted, “Be a bit gentler, hit a bit lighter, you’re attacking me too heavily!”

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord responded, “You believe I don’t want to stay my hand?! There are innumerable alchemy devices in the process of recording our fight. If I stay my hand even a bit, it will be an immense flaw.”

He thought, “Although this continued performance frustrates me, beating up Tan Mo still feels great! This opportunity must be treasured; it rarely appears!”

Tan Mo’s words to Snow Bird Harbor Lord instead made the latter’s attacks even more ferocious, causing him to promptly persuade from another angle, “The one who destroyed the magician tower must be the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, otherwise who else could it be?”

“They have silver level assistance not on record, they must be hiding a gold level. Only a gold level would be able to clear out the magician tower in such a short time.”

“If you expend yourself with me now, how will you deal with the gold level?”

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord transmitted a sneer back, “How will I deal with them?”

“Don’t I have you?”

“You are Tan Mo, a gold level imperial navy admiral. You have come to Snow Bird Harbor to rest and reorganize, and even if you are wounded right now, you can still appear!”

“No, you have to go into battle to confront these murderous ‘pirates’.”

“If you don’t do that, how can you justify yourself?”

When Tan Mo heard that, he suddenly went sluggish.

He wildly shouted in his mind, “What kind of mess is this?! Not only is the looting operation a failure, but I also have to return to my actual identity and attack my subordinates?”

When Snow Bird Harbor City Lord saw Ton Mo exposing a weak point, he seized the opportunity to get a cheap shot with his rod that badly bruised him.

Tan Mo covered his head and retreated again and again.

He was dizzy and his eyes were dim, and he felt like he needed to cough up blood.

This was utter nonsense!

He regretted this.

He really regretted this.

He felt immense remorse.

If he had known this matter would develop into this, he wouldn’t have pretended to be a pirate even if his life was threatened.

Who thought of this stratagem?

Stupid!

So stupid!

“Not I, it was you! You stupidly pressed for it.” Tan Mo scowled as he transmitted insults, “Without your suggestion, would I ever play pirate?!”

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord was even angrier, thinking to himself, “If you weren’t such a greedy scumbag, repeated bribe solicitor, and so unwilling to let go of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, would I have been forced to think of that idea of you playing pirate?”

Anger was reciprocated with anger, but when Snow Bird Harbor City Lord was covered in wounds, he still decided to hold back.

He remined, “Now is not the time to look into who to blame.”

“We have a problem!”

“Get your people out of here now, my magic battle squads are coming!”

“Isn’t it because of you I can’t leave?!” Tan Mo wanted to bawl out but resisted in doing so.

He also knew the severity of this.

The magic battle squads going into battle meant the battle would truly slip from their control.

Tan Mo’s subordinates would suffer even more casualties!

This was because every city’s magic battle squad was organized and maintained through national funds. Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s control over them was not deep enough.

Under these circumstances, the magic battle squads were completely in the dark and really believed pirates were invading Snow Bird Harbor.

Tan Mo transmitted, “[Emancipator]. Work with me now, let me wound you seriously so I can escape immediately!”

Snow Bird Harbor City Lord coldly snorted, why would he give Tan Mo a chance for personal vengeance?

He definitively declined, “If I suffer a ‘heavy injury’, how will we work together to face the enemy? Do you not have the alchemy puppet I gave you?”

“Use it to intercept me.”

Seeing Snow Bird Harbor City Lord was unwilling to cooperate, Tan Mo felt regret, but without other options, he was forced to use the alchemy puppet.

After the gold level alchemy puppet was activated, it “stopped” Snow Bird Harbor City Lord.

Without stopping to rest, Tan Mo hurried over to reinforce his subordinates.

He saw his subordinates being surrounded and blocked by the magic battle squads and the city guard!

The elves were inherently good at magic, and to pretend to be pirates, the navies didn’t wear their regular equipment and had very low magic resistance.

Tan Mo hurried to the scene, his eyes cracking with fury. The navies’ immense battle losses caused his heart to bleed!

“These losses, these losses are too high.”

“Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps! I won’t let you off, I will return today’s losses a thousand fold!”

Tan Mo was an insatiable person, and it was rare for him to suffer losses.

Today, Tan Mo had eaten a massive loss, and he already bore a deep grudge for the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

But now was definitely not the time to retaliate.

Tan Mo could only push down his spite and lead his subordinates out.

With him as the vanguard, the city guard and magic battle squads were forced to evade and yield space.

The ‘pirates’ at long last had the pressure on them turn down, and they followed Tan Mo, doing their best to evacuate the battlefield.

On the face of it, they had no ships and were forced to retreat through the port and withdraw into the interior of Ice Sculpture Island.

Hun Tong returned to the dragonman youngster’s side.

“My Lord, I can intercept Tan Mo.”

“Can they keep performing if they don’t want to?”

“Hehehe, after putting in such effort for this grand performance, is it fine for it to end so abruptly?”

“It’s such a pity, I’ll help them out.”

The dragonman youngster glanced at Hun Tong, and smiled as he jested, “Hun Tong, I didn’t expect you’d be somewhat treacherous.”

Hun Tong: ???

He thought to himself: don’t tell me it wasn’t Long Fu who facilitated this situation?

The dragonman youngster continued, “There is no need to appear. I have a more suitable candidate.”

As he said that, he cast his gaze towards the port.

A moment later, all kinds of deception divine spells were undone.

A well trained pirate group suddenly appeared!

Their pirate flag was somewhat peculiar, it was an impressive wickerwork vegetable basket, and in the basket there was a skull.
