Chapter 687: Snow Bird Harbor Battle – Caught Off Guard

With the help of the dense night, along with their allocated alchemy equipment, the navies easily got near the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships.

They were structured into small teams, dispersed apart from each other, but they were silent and moved nimbly. Furthermore, they paid attention to their allies, constantly adjusting their position as they advanced together. All of this revealed the fine military attainments of the imperial navies.

The alchemy equipment they wore also had excellent camouflage capabilities. The navies almost blended perfectly into the night, and ordinary eyes could not detect them.

On the port, no alerts appeared.

The magician tower had been eliminated.

The alarms in Snow Bird Harbor’s port were disabled by the navies.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had their own defenses. But the defensive measures around them were silently demolished by the tiny frisbee devices the navies deployed.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ greatest defense was their ships.

Each ship could be seen as a mobile fort.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had many ships berthed at the port. The flagship was silver level and was a retired warship from the Ice Sculpture Kingdom’s army. It had a slender model but actually had the greatest volume.

Next was the iron level Love Triangle. That ship was once the Applaud Pirates’ flagship, then it was seized by the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

There was also the bronze level White Bandage and Iron Lump, they were once property of two mercenary corps on Two Eyes Island. After the battle of Two Eyes Island, the survivors bought them from the Island Lord Hun Tong, and although they were the lowest level ships, they still had alchemy installations that allowed the White Bandage to heal people and gave the Iron Lump excellent defense.

In addition to those ships, there were some ordinary vessels, and in fierce naval battles, they were cannon fodder and auxiliary ships, they were not worth mentioning.

Tan Mo’s side had exhaustive information on these ships.

The imperial secret spies worked in intelligence and added on is the fact that the survivors’ ships had been repaired by Snow Bird Harbor City Lord’s factories.

It was clear this information was very detailed and reliable.

In fact, Snow Bird Harbor Lord not only collected information, he also left a few tricks while repairing these ships.

If it was a naval battle, and the battlefield was concentrated and intense, the navy would be greatly hindered from mounting a raid. But under current circumstances, it was the perfect scenario to launch a raid.

“This is the perfect setting for a raid!” The navy leader thought.

Tan Mo had withdrawn to a room outside of the port and was watching this unfold through a magic image.

“Begin now.” His eyes filled with greed and his heart were unable to hold itself back.

Tan Mo assessed that Long Fu and Yao Ma must have taken some of the money away with them, but most of it should still be on the ships. Especially the antiques and paintings, as liquidating them would be a long term matter.

“The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ magic potion business is getting more prosperous.”

“A while back, the Alchemy Guild was attacked, but now production is back on schedule.”

“Although the Li Jian Clan is the main magic medicine producer, it is obvious that the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps has not given up in this area.”

Since there is largescale medicine refinement every day, then there will surely be abundant capital that is used to buy materials, transportation costs, and other expenditures.”

“In short, first we shall capture these people. If there isn’t enough money, then we shall extort Long Fu!”

“We are acting as pirate currently…”

Tan Mo couldn’t help but smile as the merits of this came to mind.

He was very optimistic about this battle because he knew so much intelligence and believed that the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps branch was nothing to worry about.

In his view, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships had already become a number of giant treasure chests.

These treasure chests were constantly enticing him – open me, open me.

“How much money is here?”

“Hehehe, the money will all be mine.”

Wee woo!

Suddenly, an alarm resonated through the port.

It interrupted Tan Mo’s thoughts and he stood up bewildered: why was an alarm sounding?

He subconsciously looked at the magician tower, but it wasn’t coming from it.

Tan Mo looked back at the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships, but it wasn’t them either!

Then where was the alarm coming from?

Tripleblade suddenly sat up from his bed. Tonight, he was not in charge of keeping watch. But at this moment, his rest was interrupted by the alarm, and for a split second, Tripleblade was also stunned. Because he was not familiar with this alarm sound.

Where was this alarm coming from?

“What is happening outside?” Tripleblade was very baffled, unaware of the danger they were all in.

“Damn it!” The quickest to react were the concealed navies.

The navy leader cursed to himself, and he decisively ordered, “All-out assault!”

The navies summoned their battle qi and emerged from their camouflage to attack the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships.

“Kill!”

“Get rid of them, steal the money, steal the ships!!”

“Raise the pirate flag!”

As they attacked, they didn’t forget or neglect their disguise.

There were some guards patrolling on the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships, but none of them noticed the navy. After the alarm was raised, they saw the enemy, causing them to shout, “Enemy raid, enemy raid”. But it was too late.

The navy’s surprise attack immediately suppressed them.

For a moment, the navies besieged the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps from the port and sea, surrounding them in all directions.

Clang, clang, clang!

This time, it was the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ actual alarm.

“Enemy attack, enemies.”

“Pirates, a lot of pirates!!”

“Isn’t this Snow Bird Harbor?”

The mercenaries hurriedly shouted.

Most of them were resting.

Despite their muddled state, their bodies reacted by themselves – mechanically freeing themselves from hammocks, quickly putting on armor, picking up their weapons, forming formations, and orderly and quickly rushing to the battlefield.

At this crucial moment, they displayed their excellent military discipline.

This was the result of arduous military training.

But the problem right now was their enemy was the navy, the empire’s standing navy.

If they were facing a pirate raid, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ military discipline and skills would usually be better. But when faced with the navy, they did not hold an advantage, and at most were slightly worse than them. After all, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was in its early stages and had only existed for a short time.

Especially now, when one side was prepared and in ambush, while the other was just waking up. The battle situation was quite obvious.

Therefore, when Tripleblade arrived on deck, he saw that many ships had already fallen into enemy hands.

All of the ordinary ships had fallen under their control. The people on deck were all dead, but there weren’t many. Most of the people were resting inside the hold, but the enemy had already taken control of the stairs, and because the entrances were very narrow, they trapped the people inside.

Things were very passive for them.

When Tripleblade saw this, he instantly became anxious, and his eyes nearly spewing flames.

“How are there pirates here?!”

“That’s right, the Li Jian Clan was routed earlier, and coastal defenses have fallen into enemy hands! So, is that why pirates are attacking here?”

Since the Li Jian Clan’s loss, the coastal ports were jittery and on edge.

With this psychological expectation and lacking crucial context, Tripleblade was unaware of this battle’s true colors.

Tripleblade quickly restrained his thoughts and began to take command.

He was once a mercenary corps commander and had plenty of experience with enemy raids.

Tripleblade quickly gave orders, deploying his forces while sending a message for help.

“The magician tower was also attacked?” Tripleblade looked at the magician tower and noticed it wasn’t shining, it was utterly dark.

Tripleblade’s heart shook, “They dare to attack Snow Bird Harbor, it must be at least a gold level pirate group! Looking at the situation, it seems a gold level pirate has stormed the magician tower.”

“Damn it, they actually succeeded! How did they sneak in?”

Tripleblade could only brace himself and meet the enemy head on.

The mercenary corps needed time to assemble, therefore, Tripleblade deployed almost all of the alchemy puppets.

These puppets joined the front line, and yielded ok results, but were only able to alleviate the situation only a tiny bit.

Tripleblade decisively decided to abandon some ships and did everything he could to convene all of the experts over to defend the flagship.

Not all of the experts were on the flagship, as that kind of distribution method was obviously unreasonable.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ deployment plan put most silver levels as a captain of a ship, while the stronger among them were in charge of a magic ship.

It was worth mentioning that the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps once had seven silver levels, now it had increased to eleven.

There were even more iron and bronze levels.

Before the dragonman youngster left, he recruited many snow elves, mainly comprising of magic chefs and magician apprentices.

After the dragonman youngster left, due to the prosperous magic medicine business and the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ reputation, the branch continued to recruit more transcendents.

Some transcendents were recruited by them personally, others were introduced through an intermediary agency, and others decided to apply for the corps themselves.

But now, within 10 minutes of the fighting, two of their silver levels had been slain.

These silver levels were quite ordinary.

Chi Lai was naturally not an ordinary silver level.

He oversaw the Love Triangle, and after being awoken by the fighting, he ran onto the deck and immediately used divine spells.

Justice divine spell – Justice Army Vanguard!

Justice divine spell – Mark Evil!

Justice Army Vanguard was a large-scale augmentation divine spell that could increase the attacks of friendly forces two fold.

Mark Evil could designate targets as ‘wicked enemies’ or ‘righteous allies’. After putting on these marks, those marked as enemies would take more damage. When healing magic fell onto marked allies, it would be boosted, while leaving enemies unaffected.

With these two divine spells unleashed, instant results appeared. The slowly routing front finally had a crucial moment to take a breath and begin to stabilize their footing.

When the navy leader saw this, he personally acted instantly and led five silver levels over to kill Chi Lai.

When Chi Lai saw enemies coming over, his heart jumped and he retreated towards the flagship.
