Chapter 624: Transforming Captives

The fishman youngster was visibly moved.

Cang Xu was worthy of being a think tank; his words were very reasonable.

Seeing the fishman youngster’s expression, Cang Xu continued, “How much help will you provide to our comrades if you return as a gold level?”

“If it was Snake Rat or Two Eyes Island, it would be a lot. However, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps is on Ice Sculpture Island now, and gold levels can only do so much.”

“Ice Sculpture Island only has three saint levels, and if your Lordship reaches it, then it would be different.”

“Lord Commander, Zong Ge has been a peak silver level for a long time. It is very possible he has become a gold level.”

“If you become a saint level, upon your return, Zong Ge will completely acknowledge the gap between you and your Lordship. By doing this, we might be able to put an end to a hidden danger within us and your leadership will be absolute!”

The fishman youngster nodded repeatedly but still had misgivings.

Cang Xu chuckled, he understood what the young man had misgivings about.

Thus, Cang Xu considerately replied, “Naturally, we also cannot stubbornly stay here and ignore our comrades’ perils.”

“So, we need to gather information, and only with more detailed information can we issue a more accurate judgement!”

“Currently, although Lan Zao is on Ice Sculpture Island, he is in an unusual situation, and cannot act as our source of information, he is unable to contact Zi Di, Zong Ge, and the others.”

“Therefore, I propose we think of a method so the big guy can make discreet inquiries on the latest news on the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.”

The fishman youngster spoke at that moment, “I have already done as you proposed. I planned on letting Hong Zhu leave Magnet Archipelago, she is our contact with the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps. Currently, she recognizes that the big guy is a member of our mercenary corps.”

“Thus, let her go to Ice Sculpture Island to collect information and form an understanding with us.”

But Cang Xu shook his head, “Lord Commander, that arrangement is not appropriate.”

“Don’t forget, during the battle of Two Eyes Island, I was affected by the Devil Gold Coins and exposed myself as a necromancer. During that battle, Hong Zhu fought alongside me.”

“Therefore, she is suspicious. Although she immediately fled from me after I was exposed, it cannot wash away the suspicions on her.”

“The Ice Sculpture Kingdom has the same disposition towards necromancers as other powers, and if Hong Zhu is noticed, it might cause needless twists and turns.”

Cang Xu’s warning caused the fishman youngster to slap his forehead, “Oh you’re right.”

“Hong Zhu is still in relative danger.”

“Her relationship with us means Deceptive Disguise and the Anti-investigation and Prophecy spell cannot be used on her.”

Cang Xu continued to propose, “Hong Zhu and us are destined to be together. Previously, she chose to attach herself to Da Dou, reflecting her strong qualities. At the very least, she is an expert in tracking and detection, these capabilities can effectively complement Da Dou and will help the big guy grow better.”

“Therefore, it would be better if she continued to stay by the big guy’s side.”

“On the Magnet Archipelago, Hong Zhu is still quite safe.”

“If we want to obtain information, Da Dou can step up and hire some personnel to go into the Ice Sculpture Kingdom.”

“The big guy is a member of our Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, and our operations are very normal! So, wanting to make inquiries for intelligence about us doesn’t need to be secret and can be done by outsiders.”

“The more people there are, the greater the quantity and quality of the information gathered.”

The fishman youngster sighed, “Doing that really is more dependable.”

Cang Xu then said, “Actually, there is another way.”

Cang Xu’s life experience was far richer than the young man’s, and he had more ways of thinking than the latter.

To him, it seemed that these many problems had many solutions.

Cang Xu said, “Lord Commander, don’t you think keeping those captives locked up is somewhat wasteful?”

Thanks to the Ocean Mother Nest being a hunting trap, the fishman youngster had gained quite the harvest.

As of now, he held Lady Sea Snake, Ruan Tang Ren, Xiao Wang Zi, Ku Feng, and Qi Ling captive. They were all silver level and locked up in longhorn cages in a death like state.

The fishman youngster wasn’t stupid, so when he heard Cang Xu’s idea, he immediately replied, “Are you saying we should transform these captives?”

Cang Xu nodded heavily, “Lord Commander, you now have amazing skills. Each time you do a blasphemous prayer, you fool Charming Blue Goddess. Earlier, you used all kinds of divine spells to help the big guy and Lan Zao avert danger and also profaned the Dueling God!”

“Since you can deceive the gods, don’t tell me you can’t deceive these captives?”

“We have the memory crystal creation device, and all kinds of memory modification methods. Since we can trick them into thinking they are dead, why can’t we deceive them into our service?”

The fishman youngster’s heart beat incessantly at that.

He hadn’t thought of this before, as he was mainly focused on the big guy, Lan Zao, and himself.

There was another reason, even if he did transform these people, he didn’t have anywhere to use them.

Cang Xu saw things quicker than the fishman youngster.

Nowadays, with Divine Power Channel, Divine Descent, and Divine Domain Descent, along with other comprehensive methods, these subordinates had ample places to show off their skills!

The fishman youngster agreed, “Then next we should plan carefully and give every captive forged memories.”

“Using the Memory Concealment spell, we can hide their original memories beyond their notice.”

“It would be for the best if we have them believe in Charming Blue Goddess. If that is done, I’ll be able to thumb through their memories and deepen my control over them.”

“Even if the transformation is successful, these people have to be used carefully. After all, hidden dangers exist, and if they recover their memories, that in of itself can reveal many of our secrets.”

Cang Xu added on, “As far as modifying the necromancers’ memories is concerned, you need to pay close attention as their humanity is their anchor.”

“Necromancers need to vie with negative energy corrosion, and every powerful necromancer has a powerful human anchor.”

“For example, Xiao Wang Zi’s human anchor is his parents. Qi Ling’s human anchor is her fishman clan and Ku Feng’s is his pursuit of the blade.”

“These human anchors need to be retained and should be emphasized further. Otherwise, these necromancers will lack that human anchor, and as the days go on, it is very possible that they will be thoroughly eroded by negative energy and be reduced to base undead lifeforms, relying only on instinct and won’t be an intelligent necromancer.”

The fishman youngster took Cang Xu’s reminder to heart.

“You at my side really puts me at ease.” The fishman youngster praised.

Cang Xu smiled, “My Lord, it is my honor that I can follow you.”

Cang Xu felt he was extremely lucky to meet the fishman youngster. On Mystifying Monster Island, it was because of the young man that he had been saved many times, and it was again because of the young man that he had a greater future.

If Cang Xu was anywhere else, he would never have gotten such things.

What made Cang Xu the best was that the young commander never denigrated or feared him because of who he was. The young man really treated him as one of his people.

This respect was a luxury Cang Xu couldn’t get anywhere else!

The fishman youngster was also glad that he could receive Cang Xu’s help.

Since Mystifying Monster Island, Cang Xu has done countless, irreplaceable functions for him.

Now, although the fishman youngster was far stronger than Cang Xu, Cang Xu’s wisdom still gave the young man constant support and assistance.

Alone, a person had limited capabilities, awareness, attention, and feelings, among other things, and their considerations were not comprehensive and deep.

The fishman youngster had gotten a deep impression of this from this conversation.

Cang Xu had given him poignant advice.

Next, the two deliberated on how to forge memories for the captives.

The discussion only had preliminary results when Cang Xu was forced to leave.

The teleportation blood sacrifice only lasted a short time.

Cang Xu departed Ocean Mother Nest and returned to the numerous believers, again gaining the Charming Blue believers’ admiration and praise.

To them, it seemed that every blood sacrifice teleportation was life threatening.

Of the believers that were teleported in, only some of them returned. Many people didn’t have firm convictions and would be eaten by the saint beast Snow Pear Octopus.

Therefore, the vast majority of the believers who managed to return didn’t do it again.

Cang Xu was the exception.

Since participating in his first one, he had joined every subsequent one after!

This kind of undaunted behavior could not be done by ordinary people, and it caused Cang Xu’s prestige to rise like the tide with the Charming Blue Believers, and it accumulated each time to a considerable amount.

The fishman youngster in the Deep Sea Monster Fish was actively consuming the contents of the divine blessing while perceiving other believers.

He was mainly searching for a second Charming Blue believer on Ice Sculpture Island.

He maintained close attention to a few believers, which were the big guy, Dao Hen, and Lan Zao.

The big guy and Lan Zao were safe and were getting increasingly better treatment.

Dao Hen had been set up to stay on the Treasure Chest, and not long after, he gave the fishman youngster important information – Tu Ji left the ship!

As a member of the Blood Light Punishment Institution, Tu Ji was responsible for chasing down and hanging necromancers. He was the fishman youngster’s most important spying target.

But the Treasure Chest suddenly stopped in the boundless ocean, and Tu Ji jumped in, and vanished.

Dao Hen had received orders to stay on the Treasure Chest, focused on monitoring and gathering information on Tan Mo and Tu Ji.

Dao Hen didn’t anticipate Tu Ji just jumping overboard.

Tu Ji also did it late at night, and it wasn’t easy for anyone to notice him.

Dao Hen hesitated at the time and didn’t choose to follow. To him, it seemed that staying on the Treasure Chest was God’s decree.

“The Fish God Mist did not ask me to leave.” Dao Hen thought and didn’t pursue.

By the time the fishman youngster looked through his memories, it was too late.

“Compared to Tan Mo, following Tu Ji is more profitable.” The fishman youngster regretted it.

But it was clearly too late for Dao Hen to chase after him.

Might as well keep Dao Hen on the Treasure Chest.

“Tu Ji jumped into the ocean; this is absolutely not a suicide attempt.”

“Could there be a necromancer hiding on the seafloor?”

“More probable is that he needs to come ashore on some nearby island. But which island?”

The fishman youngster didn’t know Tu Ji was coming for Hong Zhu.

Since Tu Ji had learned about Hong Zhu from Yan Yi, he didn’t tell Tan Mo about it.

Dao Hen was also unaware of such a secret.

The fishman youngster felt things were anything but reassuring and immediately consulted War Merchant’s ocean map.

Very quickly, he got an answer.

“It is Feng Awakening Island.”

This was an isle, close to a barren island. It had spare trees and scant vegetation.
