Chapter 618: Gu Dong vs Shuang Lian

Dueling Divine Domain.

Tranquil Hill.

Halfway up the hill.

A fierce battle was unfolding.

“Damn it!” Gu Dong dodged left and right, looking exceptionally sorry.

“How did Shuang Lian smuggle in two gold level snow elementals into Tranquil Hill?” Gu Dong was unable to answer this question.

If it weren’t for the snow elementals moving more as they climbed up, Gu Dong would not have noticed them.

“If it weren’t for the imminent National Ceremony and the strength here being reduced, it wouldn’t be so dangerous right now!”

Gu Dong bitterly struggled and was on the downwind.

Fortunately, he had already asked for help and was now looking for when Mei Lin came in to reinforce him.

“Before that, I must persevere and hold the final defensive line.”

Gu Dong understood that on the peak of Tranquil Hill, there were a number of duelist tombstones in the cemetery. The names on them were extremely important information.

Regardless of what Shuang Lian was fighting for, as long as she saw these tombstones, the secrets of these duelists would be exposed.

Honey Snow Tower.

Shuang Lian and the tower spirit were merged together as they controlled the gold level snow elementals with all their strength and a large quantity of alchemy puppets in battle.

“I hold the advantage in this battle!” Shuang Lian stirred herself with exuberant morale.

The two snow elementals were gold level; they had been arduously subdued by her to suppress the demi-plane’s main force. They were now mobilized here.

Apart from them, there were also numerous alchemy puppets. A considerable portion of them had been produced by her and her students day and night for this. Some were for combat, but many more were for investigation and surveillance.

After touching down on Tranquil Hill, a huge volume of data was acquired by these alchemy puppets and then transmitted back to Honey Snow Tower.

Shung Lian held the initiative, and she constantly directed these alchemy puppets to break through the defenses from all directions.

While Gu Dong was just one person.

Luckily, after fighters reached the gold level, their attack range and methods underwent a qualitative change. Adding on the fact that the higher up on the hill he was, the smaller the area he needed to protect, this allowed Gu Dong to barely hold back the tide.

But battle qi was rapidly being depleted, and Gu Doing could only last for a short time.

“As expected, Teacher’s expectations weren’t wrong, that hill is very important to this space.” Bu Quan was in a control room, looking over the data with bright eyes.

“With this data, the Old King’s Crowbar is bound to pry open much more space!”

Racial magic - Hail Explosion.

A snow elemental under Shuang Lian’s control condensed hail within its body and constantly sprayed it out.

Several hundred hailstones shot out, each one able to explode. With booms and cold air, they shattered into ice shards that had terrifying cutting capabilities.

Gu Dong originally wanted to evade them, but a moment later, he saw the other snow elemental charging up the hill in spite of its injuries.

Gu Dong was forced to dispel his intention of evasion. He stretched out his palms and out flowed large amounts of gold battle qi.

The battle qi condensed into a battle skill, forming a wall.

The wall blocked the hail explosions and also barely stopped the charging snow elemental.

Although the snow elemental was hit by Hail Explosion, because it was a snow elemental, it had a high resistance to ice magic, therefore, it wasn’t damaged that much.

The two snow elementals joined forces and madly attacked Gu Dong’s battle qi wall.

Every thump created more cracks in the battle qi wall. Gu Dong repeatedly fell back, wildly pressing his battle qi to mend the wall while rousing his spirit, wanting to use a battle skill to alter this detrimental situation.

But at that moment, an alchemy puppet suddenly burst with a pink halo.

The halo of light passed through the battle qi wall, and when it shined on Gu Dong’s head, it caused his willpower to slacken, and he was unable to focus his mind.

“Not good!” Gu Dong felt things were going south, and he resisted it with all he had. But he was trapped in a cycle of focusing his mind and then losing it. For a moment, he couldn’t use other battle skills.

“This is the Divine Halo Scattering Device; it is said that the magic model it uses comes from a modified version of the God of Love’s divine spell.” Bu Quan looked at the magic image in the control room.

“Who?” Shuang Lian exclaimed, revealing her surprise.

A moment later, the flying puppet suppressing Gu Dong was struck by an artillery shell.

The flying puppet was blown away by the explosion, and the halo strayed off course, allowing Gu Doing to catch his breath.

Gu Dong successfully used a battle skill to smoothly retreat while simultaneously trapping the snow elementals in place temporarily.

“Huff hoo! Reinforcements came so soon?” He panted heavily, looking at where the reinforcements were with anticipation.

“So, it turns out to be them.”

“The one coming to help was not Mei Lin and the others, but rather Bing Xiao and the others.

As Gu Dong and the snow elementals fought, the Bayonet Gang remnants took note of them. Although Bing Xiao was just silver level, as a duelist, he knew how important Tranquil Hill was, therefore, he didn’t hesitate and immediately gathered everyone to rush over to help.

“Hen Fa, well done!” Spring Boxer loudly praised.

Lan Zao was still currently just an iron level, but his limits had reached the silver level.

Bing Xiao, Spring Boxer, Xiong Ju, and the human ringleader were all silver level, but didn’t have long ranged battle skills. This immediately gave Lan Zao a golden opportunity to distinguish himself.

Lan Zao grabbed hold of it, and although he hadn’t damaged the silver level flying puppet, after running crucial interference, it affected the war situation.

“Roar!” Xiong Ju held his broadsword and took the lead, charging into the alchemy puppets.

These alchemy puppets only went up to the silver level, and they were detection and surveillance types. They were not Xiong Ju’s match.

Xiong Ju displayed the bearing of a fierce general as he charged into the puppets from the left, killing and scattering them.

Soon after, the Bayonet Gang remnants also charged into the enemy.

Shuang Lian was not good at puppet combat, and at first, she didn’t command them to retreat, rather she let them pile up as she met the Bayonet Gang remnants with force.

But very quickly, she noticed that her puppets had been severely reduced, while the Bayonet Gang remnants were fierce dragons and tigers.

These gang members had experienced the gang’s collapse, fled from Snow Bird Harbor, survived Flower Skirt Island, and other cruel culls; those that remained were the elite.

These elite in the divine domain had also gone through active training and received continuous divine blessings, causing their strength to swell by both small and large amounts.

Shuang Lian realized her mistake and promptly pulled the puppets out.

The puppets had been reduced by more than half their numbers.

Shuang Lian clenched her teeth and changed her strategy, scattering the puppets.

The Bayonet Gang remnants weren’t able to meddle in a gold level battle, and under Bing Xiao’s command, they targeted the puppets and spread out to chase them down.

“Stabilize the front!” Gu Dong obtaining timely help immensely improved his battle qi depletion.

This was because he no longer needed to divert his attention to deal with the alchemy puppets.

With the Bayonet Gang remnants sharing the burden, he only needed to deal with the snow elementals.

Although the snow elementals were gold level, and that there were two of them, they didn’t hold the advantage against Gu Dong in combat.

In this aspect, Shuang Lian was in a somewhat awkward situation.

She used her spirit to control the snow elementals in battle and could fully display the snow elemental’s true power. This was because she was a magician and was no expert in close combat, she more so used the snow elementals to bomb indiscriminately with their racial spells. The benefits of this was she was able to coordinate both snow elementals in concert.

And if she abandoned direct control and gave the snow elementals freedom to act on their own, these snow elementals would fight alone. They would obstruct each other, and if that happened, although their individual combat strength would be better, their combined power would be worse.

Gu Dong had plenty of combat experience, and as a duelist, he naturally was no ordinary gold level fighter.

If Shuang Lian wasn’t directly controlling them, he would have cleverly exploited the two snow elementals hindering each other and conversely be winning.

Shuang Lian didn’t divert her attention, and maintained control over the snow elementals, yet was unable to break through.

Meanwhile, her alchemy puppets were gradually decimated by the Bayonet Gang remnants. The puppet with the Divine Halo Scattering Device didn’t escape and was dismembered.

“Defeated…damn it.” Shuang Lian was gloomy.

“Those people had a crucial impact on the war situation.” Shuang Lian stared at the Bayonet Gang remnants in the magic images, her eyes containing her hatred.

She didn’t think so many would descend from Tranquil Hill.

Bu Quan saw Lan Zao in the magic images but didn’t recognize him.

For one, Bu Quan was not familiar with the other survivors. Secondly, after Lan Zao left, because his bloodline had been purified, his own form had gone through great changes.

Even now, although Deceptive Disguise had been exhausted, the Anti-investigation and Prophecy spell was still maintained, though it wasn’t far from dissipating.

But because his appearance had radically changed, Deceptive Disguise didn’t have to do anything.

“Ordinary attack methods will be suppressed when approaching the hill. I fear the only effective attack will be Ice Breaker.” Shuang Lian wavered.

Ice Breaker’s magic model had been improved by her so her magician tower could use it.

But it was barely able to.

Even if the magician tower was using it, just a single usage depleted 78% of its magic power reservoir, and even the tower spirit would momentarily crash, then sink into hibernation and forced recovery.

Ice Breaker was the Honey Snow Tower’s strongest attack, and also what Shuang Lian was relying on to escape this trap.

“Just using Ice Breaker might not work. I need to pair it up with the Old King’s Crowbar to be able to attack that hill.”

“But if I do that, the consequences will be hard to predict.”

Shuang Lian was unable to decide for the moment.

Firstly, she was unable to assess the actual combat results. She should only calculate that it could harm the hill but was unable to measure to what degree.

Secondly, when she used this method, it was bound to trigger the enemy’s guard and even restraint. In the future, if the enemy targeted her, and she was unable to, then how could she free herself from this divine domain space?

It could be said that Ice Breaker was the source of both Shuang Lian’s confidence and sense of security.

Swish.

Space fluctuated, and Mei Lin’s figure appeared on Tranquil Hill.

“Finally, someone came!” Gu Dong sensed Mei Lin’s familiar aura and immediately cheered.

This scene was also detected by Shuang Lian, spurring her into a decision.

“If this battle cannot be won, then this might be my only chance.  After this, the enemy will stringently guard that hill!”

It was time to use Ice Breaker!

A moment later, Honey Snow Tower shook as massive amounts of magic power surged and collected into a magic model.

Boom!!!

A snow white beam of light suddenly shot out towards Tranquil Hill.

Halfway there, the beam of light grew smaller and thinner, suppressed by the divine domain.

King’s Crowbar!

Shuang Lian immediately used this legend level artifact. For a split second, Honey Snow Tower’s connection to the demi-plane vanished, and Ice Breaker’s light beam quickly restored to its original state.

Tranquil Hill’s power was shifted by the crowbar and was unable to achieve perfect suppression.

“Not good!” Mei Lin promptly tore a scroll, but the defensive magic only lasted a second before it broke.

Gu Dong was tangled up with the snow elementals.

The light beam ruthlessly bombarded Tranquil Hill, and light white as snow rapidly permeated everything.

The Bayonet Gang remnants fled from the disaster unfolding on the hill in disarray.

The snowy light spread too quickly, and unable to outrun it, Lan Zao was submerged by it.

“I’m…going to die.” In a split second, Lan Zao froze into an ice cube, and his thoughts slowed.

“Don’t worry, you’re not dying.”

The fishman youngster’s voice suddenly transmitted in his mind.
