Chapter 398: Snow Pear Octopus…Slice

The pure slaughter slowly drew to a close before the fishman youngster's eyes.

The sharp-clawed water monkey horde fled in disarray, dying in their escape, ultimately becoming prey for the saint level sea beast.

Blood stained the Ocean Mother Nest crimson, filling the fishman youngster's vision with a pale red hue.

The saint level sea beast opened its massive jaws, sucking in water with tremendous force.

The blood-tinged water was swallowed whole, only to be expelled as colorless seawater.

“This sea beast didn't even spare the blood...” The fishman youngster witnessed this detail, once again feeling the sheer savagery of the saint level sea beast.

Having finished its hunt, the saint level sea beast retreated back into its lair. Just as the fishman youngster had seen before, it curled into a snow-capped mountain.

Soon, the waters within the Ocean Mother Nest grew still once more, as if the bloody slaughter had been nothing but an illusion, as if it had never happened at all.

A chill gripped the fishman youngster's heart.

He grasped a harsh truth - the saint level sea beast sharing his chamber was no helpless, innocent, curious little creature. It was a cunning, vicious predator, a being standing at the apex of the food chain.

“One could say it is the master of this Ocean Mother Nest.”

“Regardless of the origin of the teleportation mechanism, this saint level sea beast has fully adapted to this environment.”

“It was nurtured here, grew here, fought here, and was tempered time and again here. Ultimately, only it survived.”

“Or perhaps... it, like me, was also teleported here?”

The fishman youngster pondered for a moment before venturing to use his transcendent talent, Mind's Eye, on the saint level sea beast once more.

Through the circular porthole, he glimpsed the creature's mental landscape again.

The volcanic shape remained unchanged, but now the crater erupted with vast flows of magma.

The deep black that had pooled at the volcano's base had nearly all transformed into a deep crimson.

In the upper half of the crater, the original deep red had faded to a lighter crimson.

Near the crater's rim, the once-red hues had even shifted toward a faint yellow.

Witnessing this mental landscape, the fishman youngster simultaneously sensed the saint level sea beast's current state of mind.

It was the faint pleasure and relief of venting accumulated hatred and fury after a brutal slaughter.

There was also the lingering dissatisfaction of not being fully sated!

“This saint level sea beast's nature is undoubtedly savage and tyrannical!”

“The Ocean Mother Nest could provide ample nourishment for its growth, yet it remains unsatisfied.”

“Having tasted the savory flavor of blood, how could it possibly settle for bland, insipid fare?”

"In its normal state, it curls into a ball, sinking into slumber, waiting for the teleportation mechanism to activate. The moment a living creature is transported in, it launches its attack without delay. While feasting to its heart's content, it also vents its inner savagery, hatred, and other negative emotions."

Having confirmed the saint level sea beast's nature, the fishman youngster had completely abandoned any notion of taming it.

It was impossible to tame.

The fishman youngster was only silver level, not even reaching gold level. Though the Deep Sea Monster Fish was a gold level magic ship, its strongest ability was stealth and concealment. If it were to engage in actual combat against a saint level sea beast, the ship's combat prowess alone was negligible.

When the fishman youngster had acquired the transcendent talent of the Affinity Aura, he had felt a flicker of secret delight.

This ability could also be applied to the saint level sea beast, potentially increasing his chances of subjugation.

Now, that seemed utterly impossible.

To subdue a sea beast of such nature, one had to deliver a brutal beating, forcing submission through sheer strength.

Even then, it would only be physical submission, not mental, leaving significant risks.

Merely expressing affection, or attempting to lure it with benefits, was virtually impossible.

Of course, if the fishman youngster had a master magician by his side, employing potions, magic formations, or other means, taming it might not be entirely out of the question.

But unfortunately, the only magician currently with the fishman youngster was Zhong Yong. He was merely a fishman, a silver level alchemist at best.

“We must leave this place immediately!” the fishman youngster sighed inwardly, acutely aware of the perilous nature of this Ocean Mother Nest.

He hadn't yet deciphered the teleportation mechanism, but he knew for certain that once a transfer occurred, combat would likely erupt within the Mother Nest.

Though the Deep Sea Monster Fish was well-camouflaged and had evaded detection by the saint level sea beast, the space within the Ocean Mother Nest was finite.

Should fierce fighting break out, the Deep Sea Monster Fish would likely be caught in the crossfire.

If this magic ship were to be destroyed, the fishman youngster's tears would run dry.

"To be on the safe side, we'll need to use the Deceptive Disguise spell to alter the appearance of the Deep Sea Monster Fish.

To the uninformed observer, the Deep Sea Monster Fish would appear as nothing more than an ordinary underwater rock formation

Yet in this environment, the submerged rock stood out starkly against the surrounding sea of pearls, appearing utterly out of place.

Though it had temporarily deceived the saint level sea beast, it offered no lasting security.

What if, in the future, boredom drove this saint level sea beast to toy with the reef?

The fishman youngster harbored another concern: if the teleportation mechanism activated again, might intelligent transcendents arriving through it notice something peculiar about the underwater reef and uncover a fragment of the truth?

“If disguised as a pearl, it shouldn't be a single massive pearl, but rather a cluster of tiny pearls,” the fishman youngster decided.

This teleportation and massacre had given him a solid scare.

Still, he hadn't come away empty-handed.

The saint level sea beast had revealed its true form, and the fishman youngster quickly obtained its intelligence from the tower spirit.

It was a Snow Pear Octopus.

Gentle in nature, it subsisted on feeding upon schools of fish in the sea.

In terms of its bloodline, saint level was not its limit. If its bloodline concentration reached a certain threshold, it could ascend to become a legendary level transcendent life form!

The Snow Pear Octopus bloodline was legendary in itself. Yet, historically, any legendary Snow Pear Octopus that had ever existed was at least 1,500 years old.

Judging by its size, the one currently in the Ocean Mother Nest was only around sixty years old.

By the Snow Pear Octopus's standards, it was still a child.

The Snow Pear Octopus's hunt caused significant turmoil. Amidst the relentless churning of the sea, the Deep Sea Monster Fish's hull shook violently.

This disturbance forced Zhong Yong to halt his alchemy temporarily.

The fishman youngster seized the moment to enter the alchemy cabin and relay the latest developments.

Zhong Yong was utterly stunned.

He too possessed knowledge of the Snow Pear Octopus.

Truly befitting a magician of vast learning.

“The Snow Pear Octopus is an exceptionally rare marine creature.”

“It's not typically documented in standard texts.”

“The most memorable book I recall, The Complete Guide to Raw Cuisine, happened to feature a description of it in its later pages.”

"The text records that MasterChef Guo Ren once hunted a Snow Pear Octopus. He sliced the octopus's tentacles into thin, edible slices. Snow Pear Octopus slices are incredibly delicious! The texture is crisp yet slightly chewy, with a flavor that combines the savory richness of seafood alongside a refreshing, fruity sweetness."

“MasterChef Guo Ren directly declared it one of the world's finest ingredients.”

After hearing Zhong Yong's explanation, the fishman youngster was speechless.

“How does this connect to ingredients?”

His curiosity piqued, he inquired about MasterChef Guo Ren's identity.

Zhong Yong explained, "MasterChef Guo Ren is the most renowned snow elf magic chef in the history of the Ice Sculpture Kingdom. He's a legendary figure with unparalleled knife skills. His defining battle occurred at the saint level. Within three seconds, he sliced an opponent of equal level into countless thin slices."

"He cherishes peace and isn't bloodthirsty. His greatest passion is creating culinary masterpieces, always identifying as a magic chef. His cooking skills rank among the world's finest, with sashimi being his specialty."

The fishman youngster sighed, “Using Snow Pear Octopus as an ingredient is possible because MasterChef Guo Ren is a legendary magic chef.”

“But here, we are the ingredients for the Snow Pear Octopus.”

Seeing the fishman youngster's troubled expression, Zhong Yong couldn't bear it and offered comfort: “I previously briefed the commander on intelligence regarding the Ocean Mother Nest.”

“Now it seems the actual situation differs greatly from my earlier report.”

“This place is unsafe; it's absolutely no place to linger!”

“Breaking through the Mother Nest and escaping as quickly as possible is the wise course of action.”

The youngster frowned. "But shattering it will create a commotion that will surely provoke the saint level sea beast. We'll be the first targets."

“Not necessarily,” Zhong Yong replied thoughtfully, “It depends on the results from the dual-eared reconnaissance puppets I've refined.”

"If we detect that powerful sea beasts inhabit the area surrounding the Ocean Mother Nest, then even if we shatter the nest, waking and enraging the saint level sea beast, we might still have a chance to escape."

The fishman youngster's eyes lit up at this.

Zhong Yong's proposed plan held some feasibility.

Using the Anti-investigation and Prophecy spell and Deceptive Disguise spell, the Deep Sea Monster Fish could disguise itself. Then, the fishman youngster could command alchemy puppets to perform explosive tasks.

The Snow Pear Octopus's nature was savage and tyrannical; once its lair was destroyed, it would inevitably plunge into a fury.

It would vent its rage, and at that moment, the sea beasts on the periphery became the most obvious targets for its fury.

As long as the two sides started fighting, the Deep Sea Monster Fish could take advantage of the chaos to escape.

"Now it all depends on the reconnaissance results. I hope this Ocean Mother Nest is teeming with sea beasts," the fishman youngster silently hoped.

While the fishman youngster on the ocean floor was troubled, Feng Lian on the surface faced his own worries.

The Divine Wind Pirates suffered heavy losses from the sudden attack by the Li Jian Clan leader.

After a swift retreat, Feng Lian immediately ordered a thorough investigation into the mole.

Yet after combing through every detail, even examining the unconscious Lan Zao, no evidence surfaced.

The investigation concluded that everyone was innocent.

After pondering briefly, Feng Lian summoned Bing Xiao and declared bluntly, “The Li Jian Clan leader Mian Li Cang hides vicious treachery beneath a gentle exterior, inflicting devastating casualties on our crew.”

“This debt of blood, I shall repay tenfold!”

“Every second of this hatred feels like torture.”

“Therefore, I won't be sending you to Flower Skirt Island personally.”

“It's not far from here. I'll give you three landing craft, more than enough to get you there.”

Upon hearing this, Bing Xiao instantly grasped Feng Lian's underlying meaning.

Feng Lian still suspected a mole among the Bayonet Gang members!

But he didn't state it outright.

Nor did he expend more effort investigating.

On one hand, it wasn't convenient for him to treat the Bayonet Gang members this way. On the other hand, he didn't have much confidence that any investigation would yield results.

The pirate crew had already given their all during the previous two thorough searches.

Therefore, for Feng Lian, the most hassle-free and effortless approach was to simply get rid of the Bayonet Gang members!
