Chapter 294: Fighting Zong Ge
Ding.
A clenched dragon claw hit Zong Ge’s forearm.
At that moment, the dragonman youngster and Zong Ge were fighting in the Love Triangle’s training room
Zong Ge was a weapon great master, he was capable of using almost every type of weapon in a menacing fashion. Compared to his weapon mastery, his unarmed combat was undoubtedly a bit worse.
Even so, Zong Ge’s hand to hand skill was very solid he was steady and struck hard, simple and effective. Those traits matched each other and had a militaristic style.
The Gold Silk Chainmail and the Grand Arena Medal were being worn by Zong Ge.
Zong Ge was mainly defending against the dragonman youngster’s assault.
The dragonman youngster’s every attack had penetration power!
After some fighting, the dragonman youngster stopped attacking.
Zong Ge stared at him and asked, “What’s going on?”
The dragonman youngster pointed at his nose, “Your nose is bleeding.”
Zong Ge nonchalantly wiped it clean, replying boldly, “An insignificant injury not worth mentioning. Continue!”
The dragonman youngster shook his head, “Internal injurie are difficult to judge from the outside, you better rest for a bit first.”
Zong Ge didn’t insist on it.
He stood in place, drank a potion and smeared some other medicine across his body.
The medicine had decent effects.
Zong Ge felt his chest tightness and short breathing quickly dissipating after using the medicine.
His external superficial injuries also visibly recovered.
This medicine had been quickly refined by Zi Di this morning to protect against penetration power.
Before the dragonman youngster started sparring, Zong Ge had taken some medicine that helped protect his internal organs.
After Zong Ge took the medicine, he sighed, “I have taken at least three dosages. Penetration power really is strong; the Gold Silk Chainmail is practically useless. It’s no wonder so many people rush like ducks for this battle qi technique and spend loads of energy and time pursuing it constantly.”
Zong Ge had little grasp of battle qi techniques.
The biggest reason was his age.
He was still very young.
He was already a weapon great master and had become an excellent general. His life level was close to the gold level, with his silver battle qi already having a trace of gold luster, he was tantamount to being a half step into the gold level.
These were already immense accomplishments.
Of course, Zong Ge’s bloodline also had a significant impact on this.
The vast majority of people in this world could not reach his pace, no matter how much time and effort they put in.
Bloodline talent decided one’s life.
Many things decided by birth could not be done through hard work.
In such a world, if things like the Bloodcore or the Bloodline Purification formation were exposed, it would stir up incomparably huge trouble.
Zong Ge was also a very hard working person.
He certainly knew the benefits of battle qi techniques. But he had to spend a lot of time and energy training to learn one.
Zong Ge chose to spend his time and energy in more productive areas.
His choice was very sensible.
Generally speaking, those pursuing battle qi techniques were those who had reached the limits of their individual strength, those who had unearthed all of their potential.
Under those circumstances, they pursued battle qi techniques because it was a possible way of getting stronger.
Zong Ge was nowhere close to pursuing battle qi techniques.
Of course, when he learned the dragonman youngster had quickly grasped penetration power through the Grand Arena Medal, he was moved by it.
Because the learning cost a fighter paid for this was extremely cheap!
If one only needed to pay a small price to learn penetration power, was there no reason not to?
After Zong Ge rested, the two continued sparring.
“The accumulated experience should be enough; you can use it now.” Not long after, the dragonman youngster stopped again.
According to his directions, Zong Ge sat cross-legged on the floor and began to use the Grand Arena Medal.
A moment later, he opened his eyes.
His eyes flashed with inspiration.
“Interesting, so this is how using the Grand Arena Medal feels…”
This was Zong Ge’s first time using the Grand Arena Medal, it felt rather novel.
“How is it?” The dragonman youngster asked.
Zong Ge pursed his brows, “There is a lot of experience, mainly made up of penetration power, but I cannot grasp it.”
The dragonman youngster smiled, unconcerned, “If the first time doesn’t work, then we can test it several more times.”
However, the following tries all failed.
“How strange, why was I able to succeed on the first try?” The dragonman youngster felt perplexed.
“It doesn’t matter how many times I fail, not even 10 times. As long as I try enough, I will succeed eventually.” Zong Ge greatly coveted penetration power.
Following this…
“Another try!” Zong Ge firmly wiped his bloody nose.
Zong Ge began to bleed from his eyes, ears, nostrils, and mouth.
“Another…cough, cough.” Zong Ge spat out blood.
Despite so many tries, he was still unable to control penetration power.
He certainly absorbed experience pertaining to penetration power, but for some unknown reason, he could never get it.
“We have tried so many times; it shouldn’t end like this.” The dragonman youngster’s brows creased.
“He continued to hypothesis, “Could it be because I didn’t use my full strength?”
The most obvious difference between their sparring now and the heroic duel was that Xiong Ju and the dragonman youngster were truly fighting with everything they had.
While during this sparring, the dragoman youngster held himself back, worried that he’d hurt Zong Ge.
“Maybe, the Grand Arena Medal is dependent on the intensity of the fight?” The dragonman youngster thought of a possibility.
“Makes sense.” Zong Ge muttered, “The god who made the Grand Arena Medal, Serene Fury, belongs to the demon race. He has battle clerics, and his sect’s doctrine always reveres fighting with your enemy with your full strength. Our spar was not that intense.”
From its nature, the Grand Arena Medal was no ordinary alchemy treasure, rather it was a sacred tool.
Sacred tools were similar to divine artifacts; they were the gods’ (or the clergy’s) and were made from divine power.
Of course, some included alchemy technology, but the core of them was divine power and divine spells.
In the vast majority of circumstances, only a clergy using divine power of their church could use a sacred tool.
Divine artifacts were more stringent with their usage. Normally, one needed a god to bestow their permission or otherwise be a pope. Red clothed archbishops or other types of high ranked clergymen could not use one as they wished.
The survivors were in a special situation.
They had two divine artifacts, the Mermaid Fairy Tale and the Greed Jade Gold Coffin. (The Bloodcore was uncertain.)
The gods behind these two divine artifacts were either fallen or were on the brink of doing so. Their control of these divine artifacts were at its lowest point.
The survivors had dug into this loophole and were able to utilize these two divine artifacts.
The reason why they could was due to War Merchant.
Without that legend level great grandmaster alchemist leaving behind his foundation, the survivors would have found it incredibly difficult to use these divine artifacts.
Even so, they were never able to display the divine artifacts’ true power.
Returning to the Grand Arena Medal.
It was a very special sacred tool. Its creator, the demon god Serene Fury wanted this sacred tool to be given to outsiders.
Zong Ge thought that since the Grand Arena Medal came from Serene Fury, it would reflect the demon god’s disposition, doctrine, and clergy, among other things.
Serene Fury encouraged fighting with everything one had and was certain to loath fraudulent fisticuffs.
Serene Fury would not have enjoyed the dragonman youngster’s and Zong Ge’s spar.
Perhaps, this was the reason for the Grand Arena Medal’s low efficiency.
His conjecture had logic to it.
“We can actually fight to validate that theory.” Said Zong Ge.
That sentence caught the dragonman youngster’s interest.
The two looked at each other, both seeing the other was eager to give it a try.
On Mystifying Monster Island, the two had competed with each other, but never had a real scrap against the other. Because survival was the main focus and beating each other up would cause stupid internal friction.
After escaping Mystifying Monster Island, despite constantly fighting, the dragonman youngster and Zong Ge never had an actual spar with each other.
They had a complex relationship.
They were comrades and also rivals.
They both held high positions and had to consider the team (despite Zong Ge not having good prospects for the survivors). They didn’t want to fight each other rashly, for no matter who won or lost, it would have a negative impact on the group.
The dragonman youngster took a deep breath, enduring the battle intent in his heart, “Speaking of which, we really didn’t use our full strength during this spar.”
The dragonman youngster’s progress was quick and violent, but Zong Ge’s arm had been healed, and his battle qi cultivation was distinctly higher by a bit more. The latter’s battle qi had a gold luster within it.
The dragonman youngster did not know as many battle skills as Zong Ge.
The dragonman youngster had outstanding defense, and his current final form fundamentally changed his speed, while Zong Ge had that pair of mysterious short spears that were most certainly not ordinary.
Everyone, including the dragonman youngster guessed that those short spears were Zong Ge’s trump card, and using them had a high price. The short spears were filled with a mysterious character. Even in the most critical moments on Mystifying Monster Island, no one saw Zong Ge fighting with them.
“Yep.” Zong Ge gazed into the dragonman youngster’s eyes, not covering his own battle intent.
“Regrettably, there isn’t an appropriate place for us to have a real battle here.” Zong Ge looked around the training cabin with frustration.
Although the Love Triangle’s training cabin had carefully selected materials and was a hidden place, if the dragonman youngster and Zong Ge fought here, it would destroy it beyond recognition.
In fact, the entire Love Triangle would be unable to withstand it.
It was only an iron level magic ship.
“Snow Bird Harbor has many dueling arenas; we can contract one for a private battle.” But when Zong Ge said that he shook his head.
It wasn’t appropriate to do that in their current situation.
The Bayonet Gang was the local tyrant here, and they were surely paying very close attention to the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, and they were constantly making discreet inquiries on the important members of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.
If the two really did have an all-out fight in a dueling arena, then the Bayonet Gang would almost certainly learn that the dragonman youngster could control penetration power.
