Chapter 230: Magic Medicine Blood Measurement - Part 1

There has always been a lack of efficient and accurate bloodline testing methods.

But there weren’t none.

The simplest method was visual assessment.

The principle wasn’t complicated, different bloodlines generally had different external characteristics.

For example, an elf bloodline usually gives people long pointed ears and a pretty appearance.

A dwarf bloodline often made a person short, increased their muscles, and gave them a preference for alcohol.

People with the Sacred Temple bloodline usually had a pair of beautiful silver white eyes. Those with a high bloodline concentration even had a pair of snow white wings sprouting from their backs.

Visual assessment was simple to understand but had too many flaws.

Many kinds of bloodlines didn’t have any visible external traits, or even any external traits at all, making it easy to bring about misjudgments.

Bloodline concentration was also a factor that made the accuracy of visual assessment shaky.

A high bloodline concentration had distinct external characteristics.

Furthermore, bloodline characteristics were liable to be concealed deliberately.

Historically, there was an elven fourth prince who obviously had formidable talent, however he pretended to be weak and concealed his bloodline traits. While the enemy was slacking over, he covertly cultivated until he was able to take the title of emperor in one stroke.

In addition, different bloodlines had similar traits, this was also liable to cause misjudgments.

Visual assessment was not reliable, but with battle qi techniques, meditation methods, and other bloodline measurement methods, the degree of accuracy could become much higher.

If a lifeform cultivated some battle qi technique or meditation method to special success, they usually could deduce their bloodline.

However, in practice, this method’s efficiency was just passable.

First, a lifeform usually didn’t have just one or two cultivation methods that was suitable for them to cultivate.

Sometimes, because of circumstances, limited choices, or other external reasons, a cultivator wouldn’t be able to test which cultivation method suits them the best.

This verification method needed too much time dedicated to cultivation to get a result.

Every organization and power consciously circulated their own battle techniques and meditation methods. (This was also why War Merchant could so easily collect so many battle qi techniques and meditation methods.)

The most accurate methods were controlled by the Life God Church.

This church had special divine spells such as Bloodline Quality Detection spell, Boodline Type Detection spell, among others.

These detection results were very precise.

There will be errors only occasionally.

The shortcoming of this method was that it was too costly!

This level of divine spell could not be used by ordinary clergyman.

Divine spells consumed divine power, and whenever a church priest used a divine spell, they needed to be compensated.

Sometimes, even with loads of money, one still can’t hire a cleric.

The most classical example was pirates.

The Pirate Throne had been vacant for a long time, and without a Pirate God, pirates didn’t have ship priests following them, and without clergy support during naval battles, they lacked timely healing.

A cleric’s power came from their beliefs, and at the same time, their beliefs and doctrine was also the framework of their conduct.

Visual assessment, cultivation results, and divine spell testing, these were the three mainstream detection methods of the present age.

Of them, the second was the most widely used.

Because its cost and accuracy rate was between the other two methods, and in actual testing, they were the most cost efficient.

The method Zi Di was using now was medicine testing.

When different bloodlines met different medicine, they would react differently. For example, when fire attributed inclined bloodlines encountered a water path magic medicine, they would often react violently.

The detection principle was quite simple, but practical application was always complex.

Take a fire attributed bloodline, some unconventional bloodlines would also react when encountering water path magic medicine. If viewed on the basis of this singular test result, one’s judgement would veer greatly in the wrong direction.

Anyways, Zi Di was not only using medicine testing, but she had also done a great deal of investigation in advance.

Such as what cultivation results the survivors had.

She also inquired into their families, ancestors, and if there were any cultivators in them, if there were, the bloodline of later generations was usually related to them.

She also investigated the survivors’ respective living environment. Bloodlines also had a distribution area.

It seemed bloodline testing was an extremely challenging undertaking with a tremendous workload, but in actuality its scope was small.

Zi Di officially began the medicine testing.

She operated the alchemy formation and produced prepared medicine.

The medicine quickly spread through the formation, turning the silver colored mist green.

Ten seconds later, four balls of blood reacted.

Tripleblade’s blood became a frozen kernel that resembled a small grape.

Mu Ban’s blood was dyed green.

Zi Di’s blood emitted a red light.

Cangn Xu’s blood quickly evaporated, turning the surrounding light mist a dark green and his blood became an ash gray liquid.

Zi Di didn’t need to take notes, the tower spirit was recording the scene.

Zi Di’s eyes narrowed as she analyzed it to herself.

The testing medicine she just added was a wood attribute testing medicine, full of life energy.

The four balls of blood that reacted had a bloodline partial towards the wood attribute.

Of course, their respective blood changes also represented the enormous difference between their inclinations.

“My blood was specially extracted from my corporeal body; it is my life information while I was living. I indeed have talent in medicine refinement; I simply found out when I tried during magic college.”

“There are too many bloodlines good at refining medicine, but I am also talented in the barbarian race’s herbal medicines too. Calculating this in, my bloodline containing the wood attribute is very logical.”

“As for the red light, could it be that it also contains a fire attribute?” Zi Di speculated inwardly.

After she turned into a ghost, her corporeal body had been frozen and kept safe.

Thus, extracting a blood sample for this test was quite easy.

“Cang Xu and I are in different situations; his body has undergone necromantic transformation and become a living dead person. His blood was changed as a result and has much more negative energy mixed into it.”

“The ball of ash gray liquid remaining is blood full of negative energy and the portion that evaporated previously dissolved into the wood attribute medicine, this is proof his transcendent bloodline is partial towards the wood attribute.”

The part of Cang Xu’s blood brimming with negative energy still hung in the air, but it repelled the green mist, creating a blank space where there was no mist, they were incompatible and entirely different.

“Mu Ban having a wood attribute bloodline is also rational. He is a carpenter, and is good at building wood products, this is one of the incarnations of his talent. Hu Ban has a transcendent bloodline, but its concentration is too low and cannot reach even the lowest criterion. Therefore, he has ever been an ordinary person.”

“As for Tripleblade, I didn’t expect he would also have a wood attribute. Based on his background investigation, he cannot trace his ancestry, for he has been drifting around since childhood.”

Zi Di operated the alchemy formation.

Very quickly, the green mist was eliminated and replaced with the original silver colored mist.

Zi Di moved to remove Cang Xu’s ash-colored blood and switched in new blood.

She waited for a few minutes until Mu Ban’s, Tripleblade’s, and her own blood reverted to their original state, the continued to add in testing reagents.

This time, Zi Di used a water attribute testing dose.

Soon after, the silver mist turned light blue.

Zi Di’s, Cang Xu’s, and Zong Ge’s blood didn’t respond.

Tripleblade’s blood changed again, his liquid blood turned into a pile of dust, white as flour.

Lan Zao’s blood looked like an inflated balloon; the volume inside it doubled within a few seconds.

The big guy’s blood ball reacted the most severely, it emitted a strong yellow light that repelled the blue mist greatly.

This was too much for Zi Di’s eyes to take in.

“My blood didn’t change; it seems that my prior speculation that it contains the fire attribute is not correct.”

“Tripleblade’s blood changed again, this proves his bloodline contains the water attribute, amongst others, the ice attribute cannot be ruled out either.”

“I didn’t expect Lan Zao’s bloodline to change so much, this indicates that his bloodline contains a strong water attribute, at least of iron level quality. But the concentration isn’t high, the bloodline is badly damaged, leading to his strength to be limited to the bronze level.”

“Thie big guy, this person…”

Finally, Zi Di focused on the big guy’s blood ball.

The big guy’s blood emitted a strong yellow radiance that repelled the surrounding light blue mist far away.

“This intense reaction indicates that his bloodline is at least gold level. The bloodline rejecting the wat er attribute medicine, so it is very possible that it has a strong earth attribute.”

Zi Di had predicted the quality of the big guy’s bloodline.

Not long after the survivors escaped Mystifying Monster Island, they had used all sorts of battle qi techniques and meditation methods.

When the big guy was cultivating, he displayed an extraordinary cultivation talent.

Based on his battle qi produce efficiency when using a battle qi technique, the dragonman youngster deduced that his bloodline was at least gold level.

As for a more accurate quality assessment, it couldn’t be determined.

However, the big guy didn’t have a sudden rise.

His intelligence was very limited, and when he cultivated battle qi, he couldn’t understand battle qi circulation and failed every time, injuring himself.

The dragonman youngster and Zi Di thought of many ways to address his cultivation problems.

Before on Snake Rat Island, they had looked for an intelligence potion but failed.

After obtaining the Magic Medicine Bathtub, t he survivors’ medicine refinement capability greatly swelled, and Zi Di personally mixed some intelligence potions.

But after they were given to the big guy, the results were very bad.

Although the intelligence potions were all low level, they illustrated how deep the big guy’s gap in intelligence was.

After this method failed, Zi Di suggested that they use the Soul Send spell to enter the big guy’s body and control him to help him complete one battle qi circulation.

But later on, when Zi Di really cultivated the Soul Send spell, she noticed that method wouldn’t work.

The user of the Soul Send spell, the ghostly Zi Di, would forcefully dominate another lifeform’s body.

During that period, negative energy would erode the target, and they wouldn’t be able to circulate battle qi.

The big guy’s battle qi cultivation originated from life energy, and like how water couldn’t mix with fire, negative energy rejected life energy too strongly and couldn’t coexist with each other.

Not only that, but negative energy would harm the big guy.

After failing time and again, the dragonman youngster and Zi Di could only let it go for now and wait for a suitable chance in the future. Such as when the survivors were able to produce higher level magic medicine.
