Chapter 192: Shi Fa’s Sacrifice

The subterranean depths.

An expansive underground space.

The cave’s four walls, ceiling, and floor had all kinds of magic runes drawn into them.

These magic runes made up a temporary magic formation.

Some runes were bright and some were extinguished, the magic formation’s radiance moved like the ocean tide, traveling up and down, appearing and disappearing.

The one presiding over this magic formation was the purple scaled fishman.

While the actual caster was Shi Fa.

He still looked human, and at this moment, his brows were tightly wrinkled, his eyes were tightly shut and sweat from dripping from the tip of his nose.

He was using everything he had to maintain the magic; it was very difficult.

While the purple scaled fishman controlled the magic formation, her spirit connecting with Shi Fa to assist him as best he could.

The was the first time Shi Fa had used this magic and was depending on the purple scaled fishman’s spirit connection to construct the magic model and maintain its continued operation.

“A few magic traps have been activated.” The purple scaled fishman quickly communicated to Shi Fa through their spirit connection.

Shi Fa was alarmed, “The enemy has emerged so fast?”

The purple scaled fishman consoled him, “Not as close as you envision. I have many magic traps augmented by the Drifting Bottle spell.

“These magic traps are like a message in a bottle, they are unlikely to stay in place, and will instead move slowly about, spreading around in a disorderly fashion.”

“This will hide the magic traps better and will also guard against enemies sneaking in from any direction while covertly approaching them.”

When Shi Fa heard that, half his concerns were relinquished, then he asked, “Who is coming?”

He knew the magic traps and this magic formation were connected, and when one of them were triggered, they would bring back information.

These included the enemy’s appearance, and lots of their life aura and sounds.

Putting these pieces of information together, one could construe intelligence on the enemy.

“Take a look.” The purple scaled fishman shared the information through the spirit connection.

Shi Fai’s glabella knotted, “Shit.”

His heard gushed with strong fear, “Its actually the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps!”

“Ignoring the gold levels, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps is the worst foe.”

“Our arrangements cannot stop him.”

The purple scaled fishman nodded, expressing acknowledgement, “I also think that too.”

They were the most crucial fishmen right now.

Naturally, they were given precious information too.

The dragonman youngster’s performance at the port battlefield, the devastation of the Vinegar Jar, and his cowering of the three silver level fishmen were known to them.

The dragonman youngster was a most thorny existence to the two magicians.

Because his red dragon scales not only protected him from physical attack but also magic too. It was an exceedingly outstanding composite defense.

Ordinary magic merely tickled the dragonman youngster.

What also truly threated the magicians was the dragonman youngster’s speed.

“His final form gives him too much strength and speed.”

“This is also the underground.”

“In terms of moment, we are no match for him.”

“If he discovers us, fleeing is nearly hopeless.”

The purple scaled fishman sighed her analysis.

Shi Fa nodded, “I have spoken to Long Fu, he is an outstanding leader and has a tenacious determination.”

“Hun Tong hiring them to stop us is indeed a wise decision.”

The dragonman youngster hadn’t even arrived, yet he had brought immense pressure on them.

The purple scaled fishman exposed her helplessness. At that moment, she had a premonition of defeat, “What to do? Our magic just activated.”

“Then speed it up!” Shi Fa glared.

The purple scaled fishman shook her head, “This is as fast as it can go.”

“No, it can still go faster!” As Shi Fa said that his nostrils began to leak blood.

The purple scaled fishman’s heart shook, “If you do that, you will destroy your foundation, after this casting, you will become a cripple!”

Shi Fa’s face blossomed a smile, “So what?”

“Since the moment I became a spy, I have been prepared to make sacrifices.”

“I have also thought about how I would sacrifice myself.”

“My identity was discovered, I was surrounded, I failed to break out, and then I died.”

“Perhaps it would be during war, I would sacrifice myself to establish an advantage on the front lines, or to destroy the enemy’s provisions.”

“It was also possible that I would never be used my entire life, I would die of old age as a nobody, my true self buried in the earth and covered by dust.”

“This is amazing, my battle companion!”

“I was most afraid of dying of old age, because that would the most worthless sacrifice.”

“At this important moment, I was used, it is my good fortune.”

“Under such urgency, I have to sacrifice myself! Doing so will increase the success rate of the operation. If sacrificing a minor silver level like me can accomplish our goal, then it would be worth it!”

The purple scaled fishman looked at Shi Fa, somewhat flabbergasted.

To be honest, although she knew spies needed to do all kinds of tricks, Shi Fa’s act of massacring fellow fishmen to obtain humanity’s trust was something she was wary of and despised.

But at this moment, those feelings and attitude was swept away.

It was superseded by admiration and emotion!

“My friend!” The purple scaled fishmen choked out, “First look for the cemetery.”

“Hai Ping was once buried there. At the time, he concealed his identity, and no one knew who he really was.”

“It has been too long, and with the coral cage ball tree’s constant growth, his grave vanished without a trace.”

“But the cemetery is a starting point, there should still be a bit of a trail left behind.”

“Even if it is the most minute trace, with this magic, it can reveal clues.”

“As long as we find a trail, we can trace it through and determine his exact position.”

Shi Fa nodded heavily, “Understood!”

Magic power surged continuously like an incorporeal tide that rolled through the entire cemetery.

There was a silver level hiding in the graveyard.

It was the grave robbing and funerary object stealing Hong Zhu.

The magic power horrified Hong Zhu.

“Why is the fishmen’s large scale magic targeting the cemetery?”

“It seems it is some kind of position searching magic?”

“I can’t stay here any longer.”

Hong Zhu didn’t know what the fishmen were really planning, but since they were searching the cemetery, this place was likely to become a new battlefield.

After Hong Zhu said that she left.

Despite knowing there were still lots of funerary objects left buried in the ground.

But she knew when to stop and could restrain her avarice.

Hong Zhu was a senior adventurer.

She had experienced many traps.

Although many traps were very rudimentary, they could trick people because they exploited human greed.

Hong Zhu’s sneaking ability was very high, and she left the cemetery without incident.

She gazed into the distance and saw the Vinegar Jar wreaking havoc in the city guard barracks.

“The city guard barracks has been destroyed?”

“The situation outside has gotten this bad?!”

Hong Zhu’s heart suddenly sank.

She had been in the cemetery by her lonesome, wantonly plundering the cemetery, unaware of the battle’s progress.

She also thought that the city guard had been wiped out and wasn’t aware that the auxiliary commander and pharmacist had left with most of the soldiers beforehand.

“The port battlefield only has two gold levels fighting in it!”

“The fishmen hold a huge advantage.”

“It’s no wonder their large scale magic went without a hitch, no one came to stop them.”

“Two Eyes Island is in danger!”

“But how should I leave?”

Hong Zhu judged that Two Eyes Island’s future was bleak.

She was a loner and immediately thought of running off.

But how to escape?

She didn’t have a ship.

Even if she did, the port had been destroyed already.

Even if she was fortunate enough to still have said ship, Song Shou and Er Gua Zi were fighting fiercely at the port, and Hong Zhu didn’t dare get near them.

Hong Zhu couldn’t think of a good way to get out for the time being, and was forced to sneak to the coastline first, then play it by ear.

Hu Li deeply sighed.

“These humans cannot be counted on!”

“The grand Two Eys Island’s barracks has surprisingly been wiped out.”

“Where are the barrack’s defenders? Instead of fighting, they retreated, they really lost face for the Sheng Ming Empire.”

Hu Li cursed loudly.

Naturally he didn’t consider it from the human’s point of view, rather it was because the hollow barracks was unable to weaken the Vinegar Jar.

This caused the Vinegar Jar to maintain its prior condition, giving him no gaps he could get into.

He had been tailing the Vinegar Jar, and when he saw it charging the barracks, he was inwardly happy.

As a result, mutual losses didn’t occur, and his plan to seize the Vinegar Jar was once again postponed.

“Boss, our plan to steal the Vinegar Jar a bit unreasonable.”

“Yea, boss. That ship has three silver level fishmen inside, and the amount of fishmen in there outnumber us greatly too!”

“We can still rob other places!”

His pirate underlings were grumbling.

Since coming ashore, although the Applaud Pirates had plundered some things, their earnings couldn’t compare to the other pirate groups.

Their commander was dedicated to stealing the Vinegar Jar yet never found a chance to.

This in the eyes of the other pirates was him wasting a big opportunity to get rich!

Hu Li looked about, “You guys are short-sighted!”

“Just do what I tell you to do.”

“Otherwise, I will kill you!”

Hu Li suddenly erupted with vicious power, shutting up the other pirates immediately, none daring to speak any longer.

“Hahaha, too fine, I have never done such robbery.”

“Two Eyes Island is so rich; this has been a wonderful experience. It would be amazing if every island looting was like this.”

There were pirates roaming everywhere through Two Eyes Island, some were in groups, some were alone, and all were in ecstasy.

They had a truly ample harvest.

Of them, the Lightning Pirates and the Stench Pirates were among the strongest.

After the two pirate groups left the church, they met at the city government building gate.

“You again!” Yang Cong Tou glared.

“Hey old Yang Cong Tou, you aren’t late this time.” Dian Wan made fun of him.

Yang Cong Tou coldly snorted.

The pirates had nearly plundered everything on the new island.

Some places they decided to avoid.

For example, the Flint Store had the silver Ku Feng and Mei Ban working together to protect it, a truly hard nut to crack.

After calculations, the most enticing place left was the city government building.

Dian Wan sternly said, “Since I robbed the last two places first, as my senior Yang Cong Tou, I’ll allow you to enter this one first.”

The city government building was right in front of them, but Dian Wan suddenly declined to go in modestly.

Yang Cong Tou gave a dirty look, “That’s enough! Hun Tong is a sinister person; I don’t believe his city government palace doesn’t have defenses. You want us to attack first, allow you to pick up the pieces after us?”

“Time is limited, in short, we either cooperate or I’ll throw you in first!”

Dian Wan laughed, “I have long wanted to work and fight with you together!”
