Chapter 190: Shipwrecked Barracks
“Since that is so, we will go our separate ways! I still have my mission.” The dragonman youngster immediately took his leave.
“Commander Long Fu, please allow me to express my thanks in the future.” Qing Xin stated her gratitude to the dragonman youngster.
The dragonman youngster didn’t turn around, he simply waved his hand, “Don’t take it so seriously, I was merely passing by.”
Such forthright presence increased the Men Shi’s opinion of the young man.
A dwarf asked Men Shi, “What will we do next?”
Qing Xin gave an invitation to Men Shi, “Perhaps we can board the ship together.”
“It has already come ashore for us.”
The dwarfs were very interested.
Both had become slaves, then fought alongside each other, thus they believed Qing Xin.
Qing Xin looked at Cang Xu, “Excuse me, is there enough space for them on the ship?”
Cang Xu’s eyes narrowed.
He immediately sensed that this was Qing Xin probing into him.
If they really wanted to cause Qing Xin harm, they would likely refuse the dwarfs onto the ship.
After all, Men Shi and the other dwarfs had some strength.
“I didn’t expect that after while saving Qing Xin, I also gained some dwarfs too?” Cagn Xu was secretly happy.
This clan of dwarfs had lived alone deep in the mountains, they were innately simple and honest, their awareness was finite, and their grievances were obvious.
“Perhaps they will be the workers of Zi Di’s envisioned alchemy factory?”
The necromancer nodded on the spot, “The ship has plenty of space! Dwarven friends, we welcome you warmly!”
And so, the two groups parted ways.
The dragonman youngster continued to forge ahead.
Qing Xin, Men Shi, and the other people followed Cang Xu, seeing the Iron Lump when they arrived at the shore.
“Isn’t that the Iron Club Mercenary Corps’ flagship?” Men Shi was bewildered.
Cang Xu replied, “Commander Tie Bang lost his life and Commander Beng Dai was injured when they forced their way into the Vinegar Jar.
“Before that, the Iron Lump had fallen into fishman hands.”
“I commanded alchemy puppets to kill the fishmen and take it back.”
Men Shi’s look eased a bit.
Not everyone was Zi Di or Hun Tong who both knew the ins and outs of the entire battle.
While Men Shi had been fighting Hu Li’s pirate group, he had been ignorant of the state of the other battlefields.
He led the dwarfs, Qing Xin, and the other humans onto the Iron Lump.
The Iron Lump was dripping with blood, corpses were lying about, and there were sword traces everywhere, it was clear there had been a desperate battle here.
“Sorry, there wasn’t enough time to clean up these fishmen corpses.” Said Cang Xu.
The swordsmen guard puppets weren’t good at cleaning up battlefields.
They were good at fighting, and of they were forced to clean up this magic ship, they would damage it greatly.
Specialization.
Therefore, alchemy puppets were organized by categories and many types of models.
The basic maintenance puppets the survivors had were barely suited to clean up battlefields.
As for the deep sea salvaging puppets, they were made to bring back dead ocean beasts or gather seafloor coral and plants in the ocean.
But the basic maintenance puppets had been exposed and had since been used to maintain the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ordinary ships.
Zi Di was cautious and didn’t reuse those puppets here.
To avoid people associating them with the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.
Men Shi carefully observed the dead fishmen and quickly found that they were mainly slain by the swordsmen guard puppets.
The other surrounding battlefield traces also proved Cang Xu’s words – he had retaken the magic ship from the fishmen and not from the Iron Club Mercenary Corps.
The difference between these two things to Men Shi was like night and day.
Men Shi relaxed his mind and began to trust Cang Xu.
He said to a subordinate, “You guys go with Qing Xin first.”
“I am a little worried about Commander Long Fu.”
Destroying the fishman’s casting will be very dangerous.”
“I can’t help them, but I can guard places near them.”
“If Long Fu and the rest encounter danger, I can support them. If that happens, then I can repay their kindness while not helping Hun Tong at the same time.
When the dwarfs heard this, they all shouted that they wanted to go, so they could personally repay that kindness too.
But Men Shi refused them, “You are too weak, don’t be a burden!”
The dwarfs were aggrieved, but they were forced to concede to the facts.
Cang Xu didn’t anticipate Men Shi’s choice.
Men Shi’s wholeheartedness to repaid the debt of gratitude cause the necromancer to have a whole new level of respect for him.
“I don’t have any reason to dissuade you, Lord Men Shi.” Cang Xu said, “Please be at ease, your people will be safe on this ship.”
“We won’t be leaving Two Eyes Island completely either.”
“After all, the fishman main army and pirates are in the seas, it isn’t safe at all!”
“We will continue to observe and await the conclusion of this battle.”
“Truth be told, we think Hun Tong has a better chance, it seems he hasn’t used his full strength yet.”
Men Shi jumped off the Iron Lump and followed the road he had taken.
The Iron Lump slowly went offshore.
Meanwhile, another magic ship was also moving calmly.
It was the Vinegar Jar.
Xi Dai Zi had replaced Yao Guan Zi as the controller of this magic ship.
Er Gua Zi was fighting Song Shou nearby in a mighty battle.
Xi Dai Zi decided to move the Vinegar Jar from where it was and broke away from the port.
The Vinegar Jar staying here would only encumber Er Gua Zi and cause the latter to worry more as he fought.
Xi Dai Zi smoothly left the port.
Song Shou did try to stop it, but Er Gua Zi was stronger than him and entangled him.
Xi Dai Zi not only sailed off, but he also took the remaining fishmen at the port with him too.
Thus, the Vinegar Jar had three silver levels and about 250 troops in it.
The fishmen had lost far more troops at the port than the humans did.
The Vinegar Jar took these troops with it, then charged the city guard barracks.
The dragonman youngster clearly wanted to destroy the casting underground, but Xi Dai Zi didn’t choose to pursue them.
The dragonman youngster’s ferociously powerful “final form” had driven Xi Dai Zi into hiding and inflicted great wounds and terror onto Peng Din Zi and the fishman knight.
If he decided to pursue, wouldn’t he be throwing his life away when he fought the dragonman youngster?
Xi Dai Zi naturally didn’t want to commit this folly.
Concerning the underground casting matter, he knew some inside information about it.
“This isn’t our business.”
“The most important thing to us is retaking our homeland!”
“By eliminating the city guard barracks, we can wipe out a barrier to the main force.”
“In fact, this is the best way we can contribute at this time.”
Xi Dai Zi sighed to himself.
He never felt this powerless.
This kind of powerless frustration not only came from his prebattle wounds that made him incapable of displaying his entire strength but more came from the fact that the enemy was too fierce.
The dragonman youngster’s ring mounds had left a deep imprint on his mind.
“Even if I was at peak condition, I wouldn’t be able to defeat him.”
The Vinegar Jar’s movement was followed by many eyes.
The Applaud Pirates.
“Boss, the ship is escaping!” An underling shouted loudly.
Hu Li grumpily slapped their head, “Idiot, are you blind? It’s a big ship; you think I can’t see it?”
His good thing had been wrecked by the dragonman youngster, and now he was still feeling embittered and wronged.
“Boss, what are we doing next?” The second mate Bei Xiang asked, “I fear we have stolen the least amount of stuff.”
Hu Li didn’t treat his second mate as impulsively as the rest.
He restrained his bad temper, looked at the Vinegar Jar’s “beautiful” figure, and after pondering for a moment, still decided, “Catch up with the ship!”
“If I can steal that ship, will there be no island we cannot ransack?”
“You guys need to look at things in the long term!”
Hu Li didn’t give up hope on seizing the Vinegar Jar.
Meanwhile, Zi Di was using an alchemy device to inform the dragonman youngster.
“The Vinegar Jar has broken away from the port and is now charging at the barracks?” The young man’s gaze tightened, “A little strange, according to common sense, they should be coming to stop us.”
Zong Ge analyzed, “There are two possibilities.”
“First is that the fishman caster is self-assured, they aren’t worried at all that we can stop them.
“The second possibility is that it isn’t them.”
“If they were from the Blue Green Coral clan, then this branch clan would be extremely powerful.”
“With this kind of power, they wouldn’t have been slaughtered and expelled by Hun Tong.”
The dragonman youngster nodded, “So, they are actually different, causing their tactics to not agree.”
Upon saying that, the dragonman youngster looked at Chi Lai, “What do you think?”
Chi Lai pondered on it, then said, “I don’t suggest we help the barracks, despite our strength surpassing the fishmen in the Vinegar Jar.
“Regardless of whether our enemy’s goals are the same, preventing the magician from using their magic is absolutely more important right now.”
Chi Lai had just joined the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps, and still didn’t consider himself a part of them.
At the same time, he was a believer in the Justice God and felt strongly in walking the path of righteousness and was willing to sacrifice himself to do so.
However, in this first round of talks, the dragonman youngster had gained a deeper understanding of Chi Lai.
The dragonman youngster didn’t say much more, instead he waved his hand and shouted, “Speed up! Advance!”
Soon after, the barracks came into Xi Dai Zi’s view.
“There is only 27% left in the magic power reservoir.”
“More critically is that seawater needs to be replenished greatly, every water shell needs to consume a lot of it.”
“I have to reduce the bombardment frequency.”
“Let’s first try smashing in, use the Vinegar Jar’s defense to try breaking into the barracks.”
Xi Dai Zi looked boorish but was quite refined. After a spot of reflection, he drove the Vinegar Jar into the barracks’ gate.
Rumble.
The gate collapsed.
A light cannon beam came directly at it.
It was the barracks’ sole light cannon turret.
As for the barracks, it was nearly devoid of people.
Because Hun Tong had ordered that the entire garrison be dispatched with the pharmacist to disrupt the underground casting.
Only the light cannon tower was manned with a few people. With them controlling it, normal enemies couldn’t approach.
The light cannon hit the Vinegar Jar, but it only shook the hull and didn’t prevent it from moving forward.
Although the light cannon was penetrating and very accurate, it lacked kinetic energy.
Unlike artillery shells that had substance and impact force.
Xi Dai Zi was pleasantly surprised.
He didn’t expect the barracks to be so empty.
He continued to drive the Vinegar Jar in, and with a bump, knocked down the light cannon turret and all of the people inside to the ground, then proceeded to grind them underneath it.
“The barracks have been taken!” The fishmen’s morale went up.
Xi Dai Zi also took in a breath of joy, “Our flagship doesn’t have a traditional bow or aft, it looks like a water jar, thus, with the hole angled to be in the back, the light cannon can’t shoot into it.”
“If that wasn’t so, it would have been far more dangerous.”
