Chapter 188: Fighting a Gold Level
“Take care, the Vinegar Jar Pirate Commander is coming towards you.” Zi Di transmitted to the dragonman youngster.
The Deep Sea Monster Fish’s detection methods were numerous and outstanding.
Zi Di’s flow of information was faster and more accurate than even Hun Tong’s.
Er Gua Zi’s move was an abnormal trend that Zi Di noticed.
The latter immediately sent the warning call to both the dragonman youngster and Zong Ge.
Chi Lai had just joined and didn’t receive such treatment.
“Understood.” The dragonman youngster was calm within the Vinegar Jar.
Er Gua Zi doing this was within his expectations.
The dragonman youngster had surmised that this would be the outcome of using the Spurting Smoke Dragon bloodline and using his full strength.
“At this point in the fight, the fishmen don’t have many hidden cards left.”
“Thus, when I kill them, they will begin to collapse.”
“The Vinegar Jar is their flagship, and if the fishmen crumble here, we humans will be the winner of the port battlefield.”
“The fishmen’s gold levels won’t stand idly by.”
“The one most likely to rush over will be Er Gua Zi!”
When Sheng Ming imperial lords made war, there was a mutual understanding that battle would normally happen between those of the same level.
Gold levels would fight gold levels, and silver levels would fight silver levels.
This was an unspoken rule.
If the strong preyed on the weak, and bullied the lower levels, it would cause people to hold them in contempt.
But now, there were no countries here, and both sides were different races, thus, this battlefield understanding was unheard of.
In this tight battlefield, anyone would fight anyone.
In fact, during this battle, the humans had the most battle results when the strong bullied the weak.
The biggest contributor in this aspect was Yan Ding.
Many fishmen had died by his hands, and the old clan elder loathed that he could only wearily defend.
Consequently, Yan Ding took the initiative to attack.
Now, the dragonman youngster was wantonly wrecking the Vinegar Jar and the silver level fishmen were a precarious pile of eggs. If Xi Dai Zi was killed, the fishmen would likely flee in defeat.
In these circumstances, it wasn’t strange that a gold level fishman was provoked over.
The dragonman youngster returned to the hole in the ship.
Er Gua Zi was very fast and had already arrived at the port.
Behind him, Song Shou was in close pursuit.
Seeing Er Gau Zi’s target was the Vinegar Jar, and the conspicuous dragoman youngster in it, Song Shou shouted, “Get out of the way!”
“You can’t escape! Long Fu!”
“It’s my fault that I allowed you to rampage for so long.”
Er Gua Zi malevolently used the human language to express his cold killing intent.
The dragonman youngster in the hole extended a finger, attracting Er Gua Zi’s attention.
He had no intention of evading or fleeing.
This arrogant attitude caused Er Gua Zi to blankly stare for a moment.
After reacting, Er Gua Zi flew into a rage.
He roared, and his speed increased sharply as he used a battle skill in that instant.
Five water blades of incomparable sharpness condensed on the spot and were launched at the dragonman youngster with lightning speed.
The dragonman youngster was calm and fearless.
This was not the first time he had encountered a gold level enemy.
“Let me see what makes you different from Rou Zang!” He shouted as he jumped from the hole.
Battle skill – Surge!
Bloodcore transformation – Spurting Smoke Ring Mounds!
Battle skill – Demolition Fist!
These three combined made him a ferocious predator who smashed through the water blades and charged at Er Gua Zi.
Bang!
The two people met each other and exchanged furious blows.
The dragonman youngster was thrown back.
Er Gua Zi took several steps back.
The difference in strength was obvious at a glance.
However, the dragonman youngster did not fall to the ground, his feet’s nails scrapped into the ground, plowing two long scars into it as he used the friction to counteract the force of the impact.
His dragon tail swung as the dragonman youngster once again held up his head high.
He spat out blood, as readily and unperturbed as if it were just spittle.
Upon seeing this, Er Gua Zi’s eyes couldn’t help but contract, revealing a trace of bewilderment.
“This guy has really hard scales.”
“He isn’t even a peak silver, yet he has such battle power…”
“He is totally able to cross blades with gold levels.”
“To surmount a level difference in battle, what is his bloodline?”
An iron smell permeated his oral cavity.
The dragonman youngster knew this was the taste of blood.
“Not bad.”
“How interesting!”
The mutual clash, slight disadvantage, and bodily wounds instead served to stimulate his battle intent further.
If this was a one on one duel, he would have desired to continue fighting feverishly.
However, he was a leader, the commander of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.
The young man never forgot that he shouldered the mantle of leadership.
“I should retreat!” The dragonman youngster deeply glanced at Er Gua Zi before jumping away and swiftly withdrawing.
Er Gua Zi stared blankly again and immediately pursued.
“No need to run, Long Fu!” Song Shou yelled.
He had warned the dragonman youngster to prevent Er Gua Zi’s blades from slaying one of the human’s silver levels and causing morale to tumble.
His shout now contained his astonishment he felt upon witnessing the ground shaking result of the clash between the dragonman youngster and Er Gua Zi.
“If he cooperates and serves as the meat shield to deal with Er Gua Zi, I’ll hold the advantage!”
But the dragonman youngster replied candidly as he retreated, “Lord Song Shou, Feudal Lord Hun Tong has ordained us with a more important mission!”
After Er Gua Zi pursued him for a bit, he gave up chasing the dragonman youngster.
Because Song Shou was nearby.
If he kept pursuing, getting farther from the Vinegar Jar, what would Song Shou do?
Er Gua Zi was forced to defend his flagship.
He had to protect his underlings and give the three silvers a chance to take a breath.
If the silvers were slain by the enemy, then that would greatly affect the battle between the gold levels.
By the Vinegar Jar, Er Gua Zi and Song Shou fought a fierce battle.
“Move now!”
“Two gold levels have altered the battlefield.”
The surrounding fishmen and humans all got out of the way.
Gold level fighters had vast repercussions and brought disaster, losing one’s life as collateral damage was a true injustice.
At this moment, both sides were thrown into chaos at the same time.
Both sides began to evacuate the battlefield as if by prior agreement.
The dragonman youngster seized the opportunity to order the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps to assemble and start breaking out of the battlefield.
The conditions were all right.
They easily broke away from the battle’s front line, only paying a small price to do so.
When the fishmen retreating to the rear saw the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was acting abnormal, they immediately charged them again.
This time, they were stopped by three silver levels, the dragonman youngster, Zong Ge, as well as Chi Lai.
Xi Dai Zi, Peng Ding Zi, and the fishman knight had been beaten senseless by the dragonman youngster. They had withdrawn to the Vinegar Jar to heal and were unable to fight.
After a hundred of the remaining fishmen vainly tossed their lives away, they no longer dared to pursue the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.
“Damn it.” When Er Gua Zi sensed this, he suddenly realized he had been exploited.
He couldn’t extradite himself now.
His hands and feet were more tied up now too.
Because the Vinegar Jar was nearby.
Every time he attacked, he was more worried that he’d cause friendly fire.
“Finally got out of the port.” The dragoman youngster sighed, he decided to reverse the Spurting Smoke Dragon transformation, and the ring mounds all faded away into nothing.
“This is the right decision. We don’t need to shed blood for Hun Tong.” Said Zong Ge.
“That was a gigantic meat grinder, no amount of lives will satisfy it.” Chi Lai agreed.
“Continue moving and follow me.” The dragonman youngster waved his arm at the front of the troops.
He lamented greatly, and although he didn’t have time to count the corps’ losses, a rough sweep found that a good number of them died at the port.
Zong Ge walm, and he was actually somewhat happy.
To him, these losses were acceptable.
“Hard training is no substitute for true combat.”
“This was a rare baptism.”
“After this battle, the entire mercenary corps will look completely different.
“Through many fights like this, large quantities of elite troops will distinguish themselves.”
The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had broken out, causing Hun Tong to slyly applaud them.
“These people really are worth putting expectations in!”
“That youngster Long Fu had a hidden skill, what is that final form?”
“He quickly turned back to his usual appearance; it seems that form cannot last for long. Perhaps the repercussions of doing so aren’t small, how much military power does he have left, is he able to destroy the fishman magician’s casting?”
Besides misgivings, Hun Tong’s opinion of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps shot up.
In fact, when he contacted Long Fu, he had been prepared to be rejected.
But now, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps decided to break out of the port and abandoned their ships. This kind of conduct undoubtably put all of the pressure on Hun Tong; they would live or die on the new island.
How could Hun Tong not have a good opinion of them?
He didn’t know what the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps knew, they had the Deep Sea Monster Fish hiding on the seafloor, monitoring the battlefield.
The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had also stolen a magic ship.
The Iron Club Mercenary Corps’ flagship, the Iron Lump!
After a few tries, Cang Xu had a tentative grasp of how to operate it.
The Iron Lump circumvented the ocean battlefield and was about to land on the new island.
Qing Xin fell onto a roof after being hit by Hu Li’s hurled tuning fork.
She was scared white, her spirit power was nearly depleted, and she only had some of her magic power left.
Hu Li ribbited at this loudly but continued to attack Men Shi.
Under Hu Li’s protection, the Applaud battle squad did an emergency retreat.
Men Shi had every dwarf’s failing, he couldn’t move as fast as Hu Li, and was forced to watch on helplessly as the battle squad left as he fought Hu Li.
“This can’t continue.”
“That magician is nearing collapse!”
Men Shi was fretful.
Despite it being a two against one, how things ended up made him resentful.
But nothing could be done.
The female magician had no equipment, and wasn’t in good condition, barely able to fight to begin with.
There wasn’t room for him to play to his strengths either.
Although he adopted a strategy of attacking what the enemy had to protect, Hu Li was able to deal with both people through ridiculous jumps and perfectly expressed his battle strength.
Men Shi knew things were anything but reassuring, yet he couldn’t find what to do.
“Have o beat them back.”
“Recklessly retreating is bound to cause the pirates to run us down.”
“The damage won’t be small.”
“Damn it! That slippery frog is jumping all over the place!”
“Where is Feudal Lord Hun Tong’s troops? Why hasn’t anyone helped us yet?”
As Men Shi incessantly fumed, the dragonman youngster led his troops in a grandiose attack.
“Humph, pirates!” The dragonman youngster found it difficult to quell his fury as he jumped right into the frogmen pirates.
Bang, bang, bang.
With a few fists, the frogmen were decimated.
Hu Li protected the battle squad, but not the ordinary pirates. Upon seeing this, he angrily ribbited, “The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps? Why are you meddling in another’s business?”
“This isn’t another’s business. Murderous and looting pirates are the enemy of justice!” The dragonman youngster was solemn, “The only thing you can blame is that you’re in the way of our advance.”
“That’s right! Killing these pirate dregs is the correct course of action.” Chi Lai praised loudly, and for a moment, he felt that the dragonman youngster was to his liking.
