Chapter 173: Plundering and Defending

Iron anchors entered the water.

Sails were put away.

Pirate fleets slowly stopped.

Landing skiffs were released, each one packed with pirates.

Because this wasn’t the port, there were few places to dock ships.

The pirates were familiar with such circumstances.

Because they often stopped by uninhabited islands to rest, and scrounge up as much potable water, food, and other supplies as possible.

The animated pirates came ashore.

They met barely any obstructions along the way.

Two Eyes Island’s defenses were almost all entangled with the fishmen.

This was indeed a rare golden opportunity to plunder!

“You’re finally here. Follow me! Now!” Dian Wan was impatient.

On the other coast.

Yang Cong Tou also linked up with his underlings.

“Boss, which store will we loot?” An underling asked.

Yang Cong Tou shook his head, “We are not robbing a store. You have no ambition! We will rob the richest place!”

“The city government palace?” The underling inevitably hesitated, “If we besiege the government palace, what will we do if Hun Tong comes? Qi You won’t stop him for us.”

Yang Cong Tou shook his head, “The city government palace doesn’t have as much money as the Wealth Church.”

“The church priest has led his underlings to help the defense of the city guard barracks.”

“Now, that place is empty.”

“Robbing that place won’t provoke Hun Tong.”

The underlings’ eyes gleamed, and they roared, “You’re brilliant boss!”

The Stench Pirates aggressively rushed towards the Wealth Church.

“Defend, defend!”

“Defend the store, I’ll give everyone that does three month’s pay.”

The Secret Medicine store manager shouted as he attempted to organize a defensive line.

But pirates with swords held high were streaming in.

To engage in oceanic trade and transportation, the merchant alliance servants and salespeople of course had battle strength.

But they weren’t the main fighting force and were in charge of daily operations.

They were also far fewer in number compared to the pirates.

The Secret Medicine Store beat back three waves of pirates, but it came at a high price. Not only were their personnel gravely depleted, but their morale was quickly falling.

They were not an army and hadn’t trained that much. The bitter battle and casualties inflicted on their fellows brought anxiety and panic to the survivors.

Eventually, the fourth wave of pirates was the far more reputable Applaud Pirates.

Faced with the frogman Hu Li leading the charge, the Secret Medicine Store’s defensive line voluntarily crumbled.

The assistants inside the shop fled in the face of battle, actually giving the pirates a better opportunity. Before long, they were chased down and killed.

“Crew, grab it all for me!”

“Open your big eyes, search well.”

“Don’t let a single potion slip by.”

“This is all money.”

Hu Li burst into laughter.

The Secret Medicine Merchant Alliance was one of the six great merchant alliances of the empire; they mainly engaged in magic medicine.

Every bottle of medicine was of guaranteed quality.

These were always fitting things to steal.

Because medicine was small and light, yet very valuable.

After the pirates stole them, they could either use them or sell them.

The marketplace always had a high demand for magic potions.

The Secret Medicine Store had fallen into enemy hands!

This information was transmitted to the other stores, causing the remaining four big stores, especially, to panic.

The Flint Store had comparatively fewer pirates attacking it.

For one, as one of the six great merchant alliances, they had top of the line defenses.

It was a difficult and big bone for the pirates to gnaw on.

On the other hand, they should be grateful for what they sell.

The Flint Merchant Alliance mainly engaged in the mining, transportation, and sale of ores.

These things were heavy and difficult to transport.

If the pirates stole them, these ores would be a burden that required people to keep watch over them.

Finally, their merchant alliance representative had gotten a cultivator’s aid.

The gunman Mei Ban!

A large group of pirates charged the entrance of the Flint Store.

The leading pirate was iron level.

“Boss, you have something on you.” An underling stated.

“What thing?” The pirate boss wiped his face, there was nothing on it.

“A bit of ash, it looks like a spot,” Replied the underling.

After the pirate boss heard this, he immediately changed color, “Oh no!”

Ding.

A moment later, his head exploded like a falling watermelon.

Red and white splashed everywhere, including onto the stupefied pirates around him.

The gunman Mei Ban had killed the pirate boss from the top of the building, where he did his utmost to conceal himself.

His weapon was a long rifle.

The rifle had an excellent targeting device.

When he killed the pirate boss, the other pirates reacted by immediately fleeing in disarray.

Mei Ban didn’t chase after them.

He was saving his bullets as much as possible.

“Under the circumstances, I shouldn’t show off.”

“As long as the Fint Store is well protected.”

Common rewards wouldn’t move the silver level loner.

But the Flint Shop representative was willing to pay a rare ore.

Mei Ban needed that ore to refine a special bullet.

Mei Ban reloaded on ammunition and surveyed the perimeter.

He quickly noticed something abnormal at the Wealth Church.

Dian Wan was charging into the Wealth Church with his pirates.

“Alas.” The Fertile Land priest sighed as he stood in the church gate, “Trouble still came, if I had known earlier, I would have gone with the Wealth priest to help the barracks.”

After the auction hall trap was broken, the Fertile Land priest didn’t join the battle.

He decided to stay at the Wealth Church to recuperate.

The Wealth church priest needed to protect his parish and had to go to war, but the Fertile Land priest had no such responsibility.

The Wealth priest tried to persuade him to join the battle, but the Fertile Land priest refused.

He stated that he could help the Wealth priest take care of the church.

He didn’t anticipate what was happening now.

He had just fought alongside these pirates to break out of the auction hall trap, but now they were on opposite sides.

“Old Fertile Land chap, I don’t want you to die, move aside. This is not your church!” Dian Wan threatened him.

The Fertile Land priest took out his sacred hoe and held it in his hand, “Young man, don’t be so brash. You got quite the guts to ransack a church, to be an enemy of the Gods!”

Dian Wan cackled, “The Gods are indeed great, but the great Gods’ gaze won’t linger on this small church located on this remote island.”

“If you don’t run, I’ll attack!”

The Fertile Land priest sighed and strictly replied, “Then come. No matter what you want to do, you’ll need to get past me first.”

Dian Wan chuckled, raised his fists, and rushed forth.

His two fists crackled with lightning as he engaged the Fertile Land priest in close quarters combat.

Although the Fertile Land priest was a cleric, he wasn’t skilled in close quarters combat.

He relied on divine spells to increase his bodily essence and used the sacred hoe to withstand Dian Wan’s fists.

For a moment, both sides were equally matched as they fought each other.

Dian Wan hurriedly cried out.

The first mate behind him led the pirates around the two fighting to storm the church.

The Fertile Land priest could only watch on helplessly.

Dian Wan stopped him, and his hands were tied.

The wandering ronin Ku feng was walking an empty street.

In days past, this street weaved and streamed with people. But now, only Ku Feng and a store assistant were traveling through it.

The store worker was persistently beseeching Ku Feng for his help, “My Lord, please help, save our store.”

“Your strength can stave off most of the pirates.”

“The boss said to name your price!”

“We have no other options…”

But Ku Feng shook his head, “You saw the corpse.”

“That was the city guard commander.”

“The fishman who beheaded him is an expert, one who uses a rare and peculiar blade skill.”

“I must find him!”

To Ku Feng, mercenary mission rewards were just how he earned a living.

His true pursuit was improving his skill with a blade.

“If I fight this strong fishman, my blade skill can improve.” Said Ku Feng.

When the store employee saw his determination, he had no choice but to say, “I know where the fishman is.”

“Oh?”

“But Lord Ku Feng!” The store employee gazed at Ku Feng, “You have to promise that after you beat the fishman that you’ll accept our offer and protect our store.”

Ku Feng sneered and refused, “They are a silver level, a very conspicuous expert.”

“With a small inquiry, I can find out where he is.”

“I don’t need to agree to defend your store.”

The store employee turned white and was forced to say, “Lord Ku Feng, my mistake.”

“I will tell you that the fishman is at the city guard barracks.”

This response actually caused Ku Feng to respect the former somewhat more.

Ku Feng left this behind, “I will go to him at once. If I have time, I will hurry back to you.”

As he watched Ku Feng leave, the store employee shouted, “Lord Ku Feng, please return soon.”

“The barracks is over there, they have the Lord Priest and his people providing assistance, along with the light cannon tower, they are winning!”

When Ku Feng heard this, his footsteps accelerated.

He was a bit worried about the fishmen.

He didn’t want the fishman blade expert to already be dead by the time he got there.

The barracks battlefield.

Hong Bo gasped for air; his body cut all over.

He looked around, fishmen growing increasingly sparse.

Ever since the Wealth Church priest intervened, the fishmen were losing.

The battle damage between the two sides changed severely, and the fishmen were suffering disastrous damage.

This was the value of clerics!

On the battlefield, healing divine spells could fix many injuries on the spot.

In addition to this, there were also many buffing divine spells.

Furthermore, clerics didn’t just bring divine spells to the front lines.

There was also morale!

One healing while their enemies weren’t created an immense psychological advantage.

By contrast, the fishmen were watching human fighters they had maimed through untold hardships return, vigorous and ready to kill. Even though their will was steady, they were discouraged and wavering.
