Chapter 167: Hun Tong’s Maneuver

Commander Tie Bang and Beng Dai stormed the port side by side.

They were a step slower than the merchant alliance representatives.

That was because Hun Tong had them stay behind to give them a mission.

The mercenary corps also had their respective encampments on the new island. They had also spent time converging with their people.

One knew that mercenary corps were not regular armies.

Take the soldiers in the city guard barracks, they were rarely able to freely leave the barracks.

But mercenaries were different.

Under normal circumstances, these mercenaries had their respective lives and could freely travel between the various regions of Two Eyes Island. Some trained, some indulged in wine, woman, or maybe gambling.

Only when the mercenary commander convened them would they assemble together and operate together to complete a mission.

The city wall guard barracks always had soldiers garrisoning and training in them, while mercenary corps encampments only had a few people left behind in them. Besides the mercenary corps members, there were also some old or disabled mercenaries or family members there too.

The two commanders did their best to marshal their people, then hurried to the port after the merchant alliance representatives arrived there.

“Damm it!” Commander Tie Bang grimaced.

“My White Bandage…” Commander Beng Dai gnashed his teeth.

The two were in a more awkward situation than the merchant alliance representatives.

The merchant alliance cultivators were able to barely jump over and fly the short distance to their fleets to provide aid.

While the two mercenary corps’ ships were farther from the port,

Because the Iron Lump and the White Bandage were both magic ships, they were able to forge ahead and resist many magic traps, thus they were able to free themselves from the harbor.

But the Vinegar Jar Pirates’ commander didn’t let them slip away.

He personally acted and slaughtered the crew of the White Bandage first, then annihilated all of the humans on the Iron Lump next.

If the two mercenary corps’ ships didn’t leave port, the two commanders would have been able to help their people.

But their decision to head towards the ocean actually caused them to cut the distance between them and their enemies, thus saving their enemies’ time.

“What should we do now?” The two commanders stood together and were at a loss for a moment.

Er Gua Zi had displayed his gold level strength, and with just his power, he had effortlessly taken both of their flagships.

Commander Tie Bang and Beng Dai were only silver levels, and didn’t want to fight Er Gua Zi.

“Those wretched fishmen pirates. Since they stole our ships, we will steal theirs!” Commander Tie Bang was steaming with anger as he gazed at the Vinegar Jar stranded aground in the port.

“Possible! Er Gua Zi will be Lord Hun Tong’s to handle.” Commander Beng Dai nodded, he shook his arm and shouted as he and Commander Tie Bang charged the Vinegar Jar together.

Hun Tong had come to the port; however, he didn’t join the battlefield.

He looked towards the ocean, sharply gazing at Er Gua Zi.

Hun Tong was a gold level cultivator, and based on his strength, if he wanted to, he could rush the port and sweep away the Steel Bone Knight fishman, the spiky fishman, and the others there.

But he didn’t do that.

“If I save those mercenary and merchant alliance ships, they will want to leave port.”

When that happens, the enemy’s pressure will focus on me.”

“Even if I hire them to do battle, that will waste resources.”

“Instead of that, it would be better to slow the pace and allow the port battle to persist.”

Hun Tong naturally schemed for his own benefits.

He wasn’t worried about the port.

The dragonman youngster and Zong Ge were sufficient enough for the fishmen to chew on.

There were many merchant alliance cultivators that were also aiding.

As feudal lord, Hun Tong naturally had a higher vision than others.

He had to keep the overall situation in mind.

This was his responsibility as leader!

The Vinegar Jar Pirates have appeared.”

“What about the Blue Green Coral fishman clan?”

“Their old clan elder is also a gold level!”

Hun Tong didn’t plan to act immediately.

The enemy hadn’t gone all out yet, and so he kept watch from the rear.

The current situation was somewhat subtle.

The auction hall trap had been shattered, and the humans who had broken out were not just merchant alliance people and mercenaries, but also pirates.

Ordinarily, these pirates would abide by Two Eyes Island’s laws.

But now that the auction was finished, and Two Eyes Island was inn turmoil, would these pirates behave themselves?

If these pirates attacked Two Eyes Island, then they would be an enormous problem!

Therefore, after breaking out of the auction hall, Hun Tong negotiated with the others.

The focus of these negotiations was the pirates.

Hun Tong’s words of profound meaning used both soft and hard tactics.

Dian Wan, Hu Li, and Yang Cong Tou sank into silence.

But when met with Hun Tong’s proposal, Qi You burst into laughter, pointed at Hun Tong, and shook his head, “No, no, no, Feudal Lord Hun Tong, you can’t control us.”

“Who are we?” Qi You looked behind him, at the pirate commanders next to him.

His voice roused them, “We are pirates!”

“We are not some merchants bent solely on profit.”

“Nor are we those willingly mercenary dogs!”

“Hehehe.”

“We are pirates.”

“We are free.”

“Did you really think you could restrain a pirate’s freedom? Have them obey your orders?”

“Even a king wouldn’t daydream of such a thing!”

“Wrong, Qi You.” Hun Tong deeply sighed, “This is merely an invitation from a friend.”

“I am inviting you to be my guests.”

“Just like the innumerable times you have come ashore here.”

“As everyone can see, I have come across some small inconveniences…”

“Small inconveniences?!” Qi You interrupted Hun Tong.

The gold level pirate boss stared at Hun Tong with deep blue eyes, his gaze exposing his ridicule and sarcasm.

“I don’t believe this is a small inconvenience.”

“If I were you, I’d act personally, instead of talking big here.”

“Speaking with us will do nothing.”

“Your enemy is before you, my adorable feudal lord.”

Hun Tong and Qi You looked at each other, their gazes crashing with imperviable sparks.

Hun Tong could see Qi You’s greed and restlessness.

He could restrain Dian Wan and the other silver level pirates, but his power was not enough to deter Qi You.

These pirates were like a time bomb.

Hun Tong didn’t want these pirates to be a knife in his back while he dealt with the fishmen.

Thus, Two Eyes Island’s feudal lord raised his head and laughed.

He appeared to look down at Qi You, and replied with deep intent, “It seems we have differing opinions of our situation.”

“Although I am disappointed, I am not surprised.”

“Do you know why?”

“Because you are not me.”

“Now, as Two Eyes Island’s feudal lord, I shall let you see what the situation truly is!”

After saying that, he softly floated into the air.

He had a gold level flying skill, so doing this was quite easy.

As he floated in the air, he took out a portable flare gun.

It was a silver level weapon.

Inside it was a signal flare.

Hun Tong raised the gun and shot it into the sky.

Whoosh.

After sharply screaming through the air, the signal flare exploded in the sky into a bright yellow firework that was exceptionally striking.

“The signal!”

“Open the magic power reservoir.”

“Raise the turrets!”

After receiving this signal, some surfaces of the new island opened wide and pure white towers slowly rose from underground.

Light cannon turrets appeared in the highlands, the port, and in the middle of the barracks!

The pirates changed color.

As it turns out, Hun Tong hadn’t just built a single light cannon turret.

It was just a pretense.

It was a trap that befuddled the enemy.

The fishmen had attacked it, but they didn’t know that there were other light cannon turrets hidden underground elsewhere.

The towers were slender, and at their peak was 3 meter long cubes.

There was an eye on every single one of its sides.

On top of the cubes was a prismatic lens the height of an adult man.

When the light cannon turrets finished rising, the prismatic lens began to absorb light, and when the light elements concentrated, the prismatic lenses began to glisten with light.

“Lgmanan”

“Mglgml”

“Galmnnnalmgamllnga”

The fishmen detected the turrets, causing them to shout one after the other, some were angry, but many more were panicking.

After a dozen seconds, the prismatic lenses stopped absorption.

The light elements imbued the cubes.

The cubes’ closed eye patterns suddenly glistened with light.

The closed eyes then suddenly opened, and from the depths of their pupils, light rays shot out!

The incandescent light rays were blinding.

A light ray targeted the ground in front of the barrack’s gate, cutting a scorching black line through it that extended a dozen meters.

All fishmen in the line were vaporized, not even their skeletons remained.

Light rays weaved through the port, causing devastating casualties to the fishmen.

Light rays also hit the Vinegar Jar Pirates’ ships, blowing up parts of three ships and sinking three in an astonishing military success.

The many chaotic battlefields sank into stillness at the same time.

Both friend and foe were somewhat stupefied.

Hun Tong’s display of his defenses amazed most people.

The feudal lord had hidden himself too deeply.

“Two Eyes Island will prevail!” One Eye gazed at the light cannon turrets’ great might from a distance, his eyes were bright with the firm belief of victory.

He had just been on the new island, but through a short distance teleportation formation, now found himself on the old island.

Two Eyes Island had a new and an old island.

The new island had just finished rising, and the old island had sunken by two thirds.

Hun Tong’s patrol feel wasn’t on the new island, rather it was on the old island.

Hun Tong hadn’t done this intentionally.

Instead, it was convention.

This happened because the new island’s port was used to welcome everyone that joined the auction.

The patrol fleet was stationed at the old island to also guard against upheaval that occurred in the new island.

Deploying troops like this was undoubtably wise.

The Vinegar Jar Pirates had to choose between the new and the old island.

When they chose to assault the new island, the patrol fleet at the old island was safe.

When upheaval occurred on the new island, the patrol fleet immediately detected it.

By the time One Eye arrived at his flagship, the entire fleet was ready and waiting!

“The enemy ships are all caught up in the fighting.”

“Attack!”

“We shall utterly defeat them!!”

One eye bellowed.

With vigorous morale, the patrol fleet gallantly sailed from port and charged towards the new island.

When this power joined the battlefield, it was bound to tip the scales of victory fiercely towards them.
