Chapter 157: Sisters Recognize Each Other

“Boss, open the door now!” The dwarf Men Shi banged on the hotel door, behind him a raggedly dressed group of dwarfs looked flurried and dispirited.

A window on the second floor opened and the hotel manager showed his face, “Stop knocking, this is an emergency, the door has already been barred, we’re closed. Get out of here!”

The fishmen attack had worried the island inhabitants very much, and one after the other, they took defensive measures.

Men Shi exploded in anger, “I already reserved the rooms, I paid the fee!”

The hotel manager answered back, “I’ll refund you, how much?”

The dwarfs’ expressions changed.

Men Shi coldly snorted, he needed to give his people time and space to breathe and rest.

“My stuff is still in the rooms, this is an emergency, now is not the time to abide by the rules!”

With this in mind, Men Shi decided to threaten the hotel manager.

“If you won’t open the door, we’ll break it down instead!”

“Or we’ll just lure some fishmen over to demolish your inn!”

The hotel manager stiffened.

The moment Men Shi raised his war hammer to smash down the door, he held out his hand, “Stay your hand, I’ll let you in. Just be quick!”

The moment the door cracked opened; the dwarfs flooded into the hotel.

“If the fishman attack this place, I ask you to help us protect this place dwarven friends.” The hotel manager squeezed out a smile, “The price can be discussed.”

“We’ll discuss it later.” Some dwarfs replied.

After being trafficked by a human captain, they questioned the honesty of humans.

After assigning rooms, Men Shi prioritized arming them.

“What are these things?” The dwarfs weren’t pleased with these weapons.

“My grandmother’s braids are sturdier that these!” The dwarfs’ blunt nature caused them to grumble at once.

Men Shi shook his head and sighed, “Just made do, it’s better to have them.”

These weapons were very crude.

The hammers were obviously tools, not weapons.

Apart from them, there were bent one hand swords, chipped cutlasses, shabby daggers, and even a prosthetic iron arm hook. These were obviously equipment pirates had thrown out.

The dwarfs stopped talking, they firmly remembered their appreciation to Men Shi.

Although these weapons were rubbish, in the current situation, they still gave them some sense of security.

“Lord Men Shi, what are we going to do?” A dwarf asked.

Men Shi muttered to himself, “We will hide in this hotel. We won’t go outside unless it is absolutely essential. Let the humans and the fishmen duke it out, this does not concern us dwarfs.”

The dwarfs nodded.

Although they had a bit of weaponry, they didn’t have any armor.

Armor was far more expense than weapons, therefore Men Shi couldn’t afford them.

As the dwarfs gained a stable environment for the time being, Zi Di, Cang Xu, and a group of people entered a big house.

Although the house was spacious and luxuriously decorated, no one was inside.

The house had the Flint Merchant Alliance’s symbol inside it.

Zi Di guessed that this might be the Flint Merchant Alliance branch manager’s house.

The branch manager was trapped inside the auction hall, and the house’s servants and attendants had fled without a trace.

After all, this place was quite close to the port.

The port was one of the fishman’s main targets.

Even inside, Zi Di could still hear the sounds of fighting from the port.

Ordinary servants and attendants naturally wouldn’t dare to stay in such a dangerous place.

Through scouting puppets, Cang Xu discovered this place and through a broken door, came in and made this their temporary base.

Cang Xu was responsible for standing guard.

A few scouting puppets under his control was quietly approaching the port.

Cang Xu quickly obtained first hand intel.

The port was in a bad state; however, it wasn’t that terrible. Especially compared to the already captured light cannon turrets.

The fishmen already forced their way into the port.

It seemed this was no surprise to Cang Xu.

Even though he wasn’t a military officer, he had reckoned this would happen.

Because the port was accessible from all sides and had no terrain to defend it.

If the port had numerous obstacles, it greatly inconvenience the daily shipping of goods and movement of people.

The humans left on the port had retreated into their ships or took the high ground on the deck in defensive positions.

Like ants, the fishmen climbed the ships like city walls in a surging and unending offensive.

They were headed by a silver level spiky fishman.

He had a plump physique, white gray fish scales where many black spikes naturally grew from.

This gave him an innate secondary armor that could painfully stab any enemies fighting near him.

The fishman was extremely angry and was shouting constantly. As a number of fishmen were climbing, they were struck down and lost their lives. But as one fell, another replaced them, stepping over the corpses of their dead comrades to battle.

As their leader, the spiky fishman fought at the head of his troops and was the first to charge ahead.

“Defend, we must defend!”

“We must persevere until the captain and the others return!!”

“If you don’t want to die, then fight like you don’t want to!!”

The sailors inside the ships were also red with killing intent.

The ones most heavily under attack were the magic ships.

There were many magic ships anchored at Two Eyes Island’s port.

Most of them belonged to the five great merchant alliances, each merchant alliance representative had been provided with a bronze level magic ship. However, these magic ships were mainly used for commercial trade and were focused on loading capacity and speed.

The truly strong bronze level magic ships were the White Bandage and the Iron Lump. These two ships belonged to mercenary corps who depended on their military power to make a living, thus, their combat display far exceeded that of the merchant alliance ships.

The fishmen obviously knew a lot of information.

They focused their offensive the most on the White Bandage and the Iron Lump, with the spiky fishman launching several attacks on the White Bandage.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ships were also under attack; however, they weren’t the fishmen’s main target.

Perhaps because the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps only had ordinary ships.

The mercenaries defended the ships, holding a big advantage due to their commanding position.

Because the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ armory had large amounts of alchemy crossbows and firearms, they had set up a sharpshooter team a long time ago. Zong Ge’s desire for a sharpshooter team was so strong that he even took out the Arrow Storm Battle Qi technique and Bullet Hail Battle Qi technique for that purpose.

But unfortunately, talents were difficult to find.

Due to a lack of suitable people, the two shooter battle squads were just plans and imagination. There were so few people that daily training requirements couldn’t be fulfilled.

Under these circumstances, the dragonman youngster was forced to make up the numbers with “inferior people”. They weren’t able to form a sharpshooter battle squad, but they were able to have ordinary archery teams.

Of course, Zong Ge didn’t forget to help these people during training.

Now, these people were displaying their formidable battle strength.

Even though they used ordinary arrows and ammunition, many slain fishmen laid sprawled out on their backs.

Often mid-charge, fishmen were shot dead.

While the magic ships had sides filled with climbing fishmen, and occasional fishmen charging onto the deck, the top half of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ hulls were all clean. At most, the fishmen were able to climb halfway before being shot dead.

Upon surveying all of the ships at port, one would find the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was in the best shape.

This information from the scouting puppets let Cang Xu relax for the time being.

“The situation is still alright.”

“But I must preside over the situation as soon as possible.”

“The Commander, Zong Ge, Tripleblade, Lan Zao, Zi Di, and I are not with them.”

“The only ones there, such as Mu Ban, Bai Ya, and the others only have meager strength.”

“Without a true leader to preside over the war situation, if the situation goes south, morale will easily collapse, leading to flight and surrender.”

“I wonder how Zi Di doing over there?”

“If it really is Qing Xin, it would be better if our side had a silver level magician.”

“No, even an iron level is a rare strength that can help.”

Cang Xu’s eyes flashed with expectation.

Inside the master bedroom, there was only Zi Di, and the middle aged women suspected to be Qing Xin.

“Master.” The middle aged woman dutifully came to the room, “You summoned me, where do you want tidied up?”

This was only an excuse.

Zi Di had been looking for a chance to privately speak with “Qing Xin”.

As she gazed at the woman, Zi Di couldn’t help but be somewhat nervous.

For one, she was worried that her hopes would be for naught, that the other person was just a stranger that looked like sister Qing Xin, nothing more. Second, she was also worried at the state of Two Eyes Island.

“The present situation is unknown, and time is short. I must decisively act, the more time I fight for, the more opportunities I will have.”

Zi Di decided to cut through the tangled hemp.

She gazed at the woman before her and directly asked, “Are you Elder Qing Xin?

The woman was flabbergasted and puzzled, but there was no shock to it, it all looked natural.

She cautiously replied, “Mas, master, what are you saying?”

“You must be mistaken.”

“I am called…”

Zi Di interrupted her, “I am not interested in hearing your lies.”

She took out a wisteria secret order.

The wisteria secret order represented her current identity – a level seven elder of the Wisteria Merchant Alliance, a remarkable identity.

When the woman saw this secret order, her expression fluctuated slightly.

Zi Di also knew what she looked like right now.

In their eyes, she was hooded and masked, a mysterious figure that was hard to trust.

She put the secret order into the woman’s hand.

“Elder Qing Xin, you are a magician. I know that even if you don’t have the relevant alchemy device, you can discern the authenticity of this secret order. I purchased them all because of you.”

“If you are Qing Xin, I am your friend, not your enemy.”

The woman forced to take the wisteria secret order was at her wits’ end and frantically shook her head, “Master, I’m really not…”

Zi Di interrupted her again, “You don’t need to say so much.”

“I have more important matters to attend to.”

“You can privately inspect if this secret order is real.”

“I long for your trust, but I cannot tell you my true name right now.”

Zi Di couldn’t expose herself, despite her understanding that identifying herself as Zi Di would surely gain Qing Xin’s trust.

But that was too risky to do.

Things concerning Mystifying Monster Island could not be revealed.
