Chapter 142: Cooperation

“1,000 gold.” Zi Di shouted out the price.

In his room, Dian Wan’s eyes widened.

He felt his life flash before him.

The Lightning Pirates’ main goal this auction was that gold level healing potion.

For this reason, the pirates had prepared for two months and had accumulated the most gold coins Dian Wan ever had in his entire life.

He had been confident and ready to make a big showing here.

But before the bidding began, Zi Di’s high price of 100 gold seemed to instantly crushed him like a mountain.

Dian Wan clenched his fists, he turned red, and his heart welled with resentment and anger.

That price, how could he compete?

It was more than all of the cash he had on hand!

His preparations for this gold level healing potion were useless and even seemed somewhat ridiculous.

Dian Wan felt quite sullen.

Seeing his captain’s distressed expression, the first mate felt things were going bad and promptly held Dian Wan, “Captain, calm down, just calm down a little!”

“I…that dammed…room 21…I will…” Dian Wan fumed with rage, gnashing out curses intermittently through his teeth.

The first mate’s heart jumped, and he loudly warned him, “Calm down captain, this is not the sea. This is Two Eyes Island, and there are many gold level fighters here.”

“Ahh!” Dian Wan was hopping mad, he pushed away the first mate with shaking arms and clutched his head as hard as he could.

Despite his best efforts, his hedgehog like hair still remained tenacious and resumed their straightness soon after.

“1,100 gold” Bid Qi You.

Dian Wan was forced to give up, but Qi You wasn’t.

As a gold level pirate leader, he had started his career far earlier than Dian Wan and had far more money than the latter.

Zi Di immediately followed up with a fierce offensive, “1,200 gold.”

Qi You coldly snorted and wouldn’t be outdone, “1,300 gold.”

Zi Di continued to raise the price without hesitation, “1,400 gold.”

Qi You’s eyelids throbbed, and he hesitated, Zi Di always raised the price by 100 gold, and her voice was very steady. It gave people a feeling that it was neither too fast nor slow, causing Qi You to feel like he was confronting an imperial army. They were calm, steady, and had the style of a regent.

But the hesitation was temporary and Qi You still planned to continue bidding.

The price still hadn’t reached his bottom line yet.

One of his main golds this auction too was that gold level healing potion.

It was something crucial to ensuring his survival as well as recovering the initiative in a deadlocked battle that could tip the scales towards victory, it was invaluable!

Anyways as Qi You wanted to speak, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ room 14 suddenly bid, “1,450 gold.”

Qi You blankly stared.

In the great hall, many other guests were the same too.

“The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps is joining this auction too?”

“Do they not have a gold level? Why are they interested in this level of potion?”

“During the beast tide, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps earned too much. They have so much money!”

In room 1, Song Shou asked, “I heard the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps is the most popular mercenary corps here? But aren’t they actually arms smugglers?”

Hun Tong smiled, and he answered, “This mercenary corps is quite good, they have many talents, and as for them being arms smugglers, those are merely rumors and there is no evidence proving it.”

Overall, Hun Tong had a good opinion of the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

The reason was not only because of their information on the necromancer, but also during the beast tide, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had the most pressure on their defensive line yet had done outstanding despite so.

Hun Tong continued, “The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ second in command has almost reached the gold level but is injured. That injury is very troublesome and needs a gold level healing potion to cure it.”

“For their second in command, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps is bound to vie for this potion with all of their strength.”

Hun Tong’s words were skillful.

He leaked some secrets at his own accord to bring he and Song Shou closer.

Song Shou couldn’t help but be curious, “You’re saying their second in command is stronger than their leader. What does their leader think about that? They seem to be very tolerant. Aren’t they worried their second in command will usurp them?”

This was the world of the strong.

The strong were always respected across the world.

A leader had the be the strongest in their organization, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to control the situation, and morale was liable to be unstable.

Hun Tong shook his head, “I’m not sure what they are thinking.”

He didn’t want to continue speaking about this, thus he put his attention to the potion auction proceeding before him.

Hun Tong harbored anticipation for this potion auction, “Today’s gold level healing potion will surely sell higher than before.”

“Because on the Wilderness Continent, the empire’s and the beastman tribe alliance’s great war is close at hand.”

“The empire is preparing war supplies, causing the potions circulating in the market, regardless of quality or quantity, to sharply decline.”

“Especially in the vast ocean, gold level healing potions are always rare.”

“My conservative estimate says that this potion can sell for 1,800 gold!”

Just as he thought that Zi Di in room 21 bid, “1.700 gold.”

Hun Tong couldn’t help but narrow his eyes, secretly applauding Zi DI’s skill at bidding.

Zi Di’s price increase was more immense than before, displaying to the other powers her determination to have it, which must have pressured the other competitors greatly.

Furthermore, the specific amount bid also had subtly. 1,700 gold, quite close to 1,800 gold, it was within one or two bids, that’s all.

If the other competitors lacked money, they might withdraw at their own accord.

“1,700 gold…”

“Right now, I only have 1,850 gold on me. Can I defeat room 21 in the next bid or two?”

“Forget about it, this price is too excessive for a consumable.”

For a moment, many hidden competitors were forced to retreat by this price.

Seeing that there weren’t any bids for a moment, Hun Tong shook his head and bid, “1.750 gold.”

He took the initiative to raise the price himself.

As he expected, Zi Di immediately followed up, “1,800 gold.”

The price had reached Hun Tong’s expected price level, he hesitated, then chose to withdraw.

“Room 21, 1,800 gold, going once.” The auction began to count down.

“Room 21, 1,800 gold, going twice.”

“1,850 gold.” An unfamiliar voice suddenly interjected.

Everyone present couldn’t help but be disturbed.

“It’s room 2!”

“There is actually someone in that room?”

“This is the first time room 2 has ever made a sound.”

“It seems their main goal is that healing potion.”

The people whispered to each other, all of them were very curious at who the mysterious buyer in room 2 was.

In room 21, Zi DI’s eyes flashed brightly.

“Regardless of who the person in room 2 is, they must have a deep relationship with Hun Tong, otherwise it would be impossible for them to hide who they are up until now.”

“Are they bidding in response to me? I might be overthinking it; the other party might not understand the current market situation or has an immense demand for gold level healing potions…”

Zi Di also knew about the current market situation, 1,850 gold to her had already surpassed the ideal price level.

Zi Di felt a bit intractable.

So far, she had been very familiar with the other bidders, as this waws the first time room 2 had bid, Zi DI knew little about them.

Zi Di didn’t know who was in room 2 or how they thought.

After thinking about it, Zi Di place her bid, “1,900 gold.”

This was the first time she had raised the price by 50 gold, she raised it by the minimum required. Zi Di chose to be cautious.

Just as Zi Di had spoken, in room 14, Fei She immediately sensed something and said to the dragonman youngster, “Cap, captain, please bid immediately, do it now.”

The dragonman youngster didn’t hesitate and instantly shouted, “1,950 gold!”

In room 2, the cigar smoking gold fighter wanted to raise the price, but when he saw the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps bid, he felt somewhat surprised.

“Since it isn’t room 21, that’s fine by me.”

Room 2 didn’t respond.

The auction master was already counting down.

In room 1, Hun Tong’s eyes narrowed, and he had the urge to raise the price again.

But at the same time, he was hesitant too.

He was worried that if he bought the potion at a high price, it would be wasted in his hands.

“The crux is the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ bid.”

“These arms smugglers are pressed to heal Shi Qi’s injury; I don’t need to damage our relationship.”

Hun Tong still wanted to draw support from this channel and make Two Eyes Island a covert point of sale for mutations.

“1,950 gold, room 14, going twice.” The auction master continued the countdown.

The audience was extremely quiet.

The price had surpassed auction records, and everyone silently awaited the outcome.

“If nothing unexpected happens, this gold level healing potion will fall into the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ hands.”  Most of the people had come to the same consensus.

Only Zi DI was rapidly pondering: should I continue bidding?”

The dragonman youngster had shouted a bid of 1,950 gold, and Zi Di understood that must have been Fei She giving him timely advice.

Since both sides were acting in concert, Zi Di wanted to do more.
“Room 2’s intention is unclear.”

“The large amounts of raw material transactions is still coming up.”

“Even if I have to pay two or three hundred more coins, it’ll be worth it if I can probe some information on them.”

When she thought of that, Zi DI resolutely cried out, “2,000 gold!”

Everyone’s hearts trembled.

“It actually reached 2,000 gold?”

“It’s to imagine that its worth 2,000 gold, even if it’s a gold level healing potion!”

“I feel that room 21 was very hesitant to increase the price and did the minimal increase, are their financial resources reaching their limits?”

“We cannot infer that, several times before, room 21 had done that in other auctions that gave people the misconception and cause other bidders to buy items at a premium, depleting their money.”

The dragonman youngster was somewhat surprised too, “This was obviously going smoothly, why did Zi Di still want to increase the price? Could it be that she wants to continue the play to cover the true relationship between us?”

Fei She’s eyes gleamed; he knew from experience what Zi Di intended and hastily extended his hand to block the dragonman youngster, “Cap, captain, don’t,, don’t follow up. Wait a moment, wait, wait just a moment.”

The dragonman youngster blankly stared, he saw Fei She was nervous, but didn’t understand what he was nervous about. If Zi Di won, the gold level potion would still be theirs.

But the dragonman youngster readily followed good advice and instantly shut up and didn’t make a sound.
