Chapter 130: Auction Strategy

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ main purpose in coming to Two Eyes Island was to deliver a letter, they had done that the first night they had come to the island.

Currently, they were waiting for a reply back.

Apart from this, they hoped to obtain supplies from Two Eyes Island.

Two Eyes Island was a trade island, it was prosperous and had abundant goods, Snake Rat Island could not compare to it.

On this island, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps indeed obtained many benefits. Gold coins, equipment, and even cannons were finally filled up on.

As far as this auction was concerned, the survivors were looking forward to it considerably.

The auction would have gold level medicine, which was currently the best way to treat Zon Ge’s arm injury.

But that was only a small part.

The survivors had learned of many items from Hun Tong earlier. During the information deal, Hun Tong had restricted the amount and kind of goods they could buy in advance.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps wanted to buy many things, but couldn’t, thus they had no choice but to make difficult choices on what to take and what to give up.

They didn’t lack coins, but at the time, they couldn’t use them recklessly. They had a lot of gold coins, but their origin was dubious. Moreover, flaunting too much wealth might provoke the covetousness and greed of Hun Tong and others, possibly leaving behind a flaw that future investigations could find.

The final reason was that unknown items could appear. After the beast tide and pirates appearing in turn, pirate commanders like Dian Wan would usually escort some major treasures themselves to the auction to be sold. These treasures were usually quite valuable or rare, and had to be personally escorted, lest one not feel at ease.

Sometimes, during the auction, when a buyer needed to raise enough money, they would decide to sell one of their own things at the last moment.

For the purpose of this auction, the survivors had crafted a strategy ahead of time.

Combining the ideas of both Zi Di and Cang Xu, the survivors decided to display their superiority.

Their greatest advantage currently was not their two silver levels, the Deep Sea Monter fish, or their medicine manufacturing ability, rather it was the Deceptive Disguise and Anti-investigation and Prophecy spells.

With the help of the divine artifact, they had the present age’s best disguise and deception ability.

They could disguise their identities, enter with many people, exert pressure at many points of the auction, and coordinate with each other.

After careful deliberations, the survivors decided to form two groups.

One was composed of the dragonman youngster, half beastman Zong Ge, and most importantly, Fei She. Tripleblade and Lan Zao were supplementary, used to strengthen their prestige and be the main attraction.

The other group was composed of Zi Di and Cang Xu. Their public identity would be the Wisteria Store’s level seven elders.

Why not do anything else?

First, the auction floor was limited, and it was a cultivator auction, thus entry tickets were hard to get.

Second, Deceptive Disguise was only camouflage and could not increase battle strength. Therefore, when dividing one’s forces, one needed to value one’s battle strength. After all, there were numerous pirates at the auction, and once upon a time, even a murder occurred at an auction.

Third, every group had an accomplished merchant that could make decisions. The survivors had Zi Di and Fei She, both of whom had strong business abilities, thus each was in their own group that conformed with each other.

Finally, because the Deceptive Disguise spell was an important secret, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps only used it on their core members, the survivors.

The dragonman youngster’s entry ticket and private room were from Hun Tong.

Zi Di and Cang Xu had no such thing.

At first, Zi Di and Cang Xu went to the Wisteria Shop to check on whether the Bai Zhen Clan replied, while trying to help Yan Yi in passing.

Yan Yi was in the same clan as Hun Tong and had lived for a long time on Two Eyes Island. But regrettably, he expressed his powerlessness. He did have contacts, but he couldn’t do anything.

He told Zi Di and Cang Xu that entry tickets were rare, because the auction was geared towards cultivators. According to usual practice, Hun Tong would first issue a batch of tickets in advance, then leave the final tickets in his hands. First was to deal with emergencies, and second was that if there was a lack of buyers, to prevent a desolate spectacle, Hun Tong could sell them to ordinary people to earn a profit.

Zi DI and Cang Xu bid farewell to Yan Yi and left the Wisteria Store, then tried to find Hun Tong’s merchant to buy an admission ticket.

As a result, they had a conflict with a cultivator on the way back.

Cang Xu decisively used the fire path rings with Zi Di to push Ya Ma into a disadvantageous position.

Ya Ma wanted to escape but was blocked.

Cang Xu and Zi Di didn’t want to kill anyone, and so after Ya Ma paid with her auction ticket, they let her go.

Who would have imagined that not long after, the news that was spread said that Cang Xu and Zi Di had deliberately attacked Ya Ma for her entry ticket.

Cang Xu analyzed that this was done deliberately by Ya Ma. But with the entry ticket, Cang Xu and Zi Di didn’t need to find Hun Tong.

In light of their identities, going to find Hun Tong had hidden risks.

After changing their identities and returning to the ships at port, during their discission, the survivors surmised that Ya Ma was unresigned and wanted to get back into the venue, and so, she distributed this rumor so she could stand in the right.

The disgusting and vile thing about rumors was that they were hard to deal with.

The more one denied, the more the rumor would spread unchecked.

If it was Hun Tong, he could rely on his rule to strangle the rumors by force, however, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps were clearly unable to do that.

Everyone decided to first see what would happen.

In the end, when the auction started, Ya Ma hadn’t reappeared.

The Dragon Ion Mercenary Corps’ two groups entered the auction venue at nearly the same time.

The dragonman youngster’s group entered through the main entrance, while Cang Xu and Zi Di came in from the back door and immediately went up to the second floor without appearing in the first floor’s large reception hall.

After all, how they got their admission ticket was somewhat unclear.

Luckily for the two man group, they smoothly entered the venue. Ya Ma’s ticket also unexpectedly included a private room, which was a pleasant surprise.

When the first item appeared, Zi Di and Cang Xu were both tempted.

Cang Xu immediately said to Zi Di, “Live preserving things are unusually valuable, we have to fight for it. If we miss this chance, it might be a long time before we see another. We fundamentally don’t have any normal channels with the Voodoo Sect.”

“I suggest we seize it and give it to our captain. The captain is our most important person, undoubtedly. We have to prioritize his safety, no matter how far we go, it won’t be enough!”

The dragonman youngster controlled the Bloodcore, and if he had an accident, the Bloodcore would be lost or destroyed. Thus, even if the Bloodline Purification formation was built, without the Bloodcore, it would be a pile of rubbish.

Zi Di nodded vigorously.

When she saw the small puppet, she too immediately thought of buying it for her sweetheart.

Rational analysis was only a small part of Zi Di’s decision, it was mostly driven by emotion.

With the final price raise, where Zi Di suddenly raised the price substantially, she directly and efficiently won the puppet doll.

“Once again, congratulations to the friend in room 21!” The auction master brought the hammer down.

After the auction was decided, an attendant climbed onto the auction stage, and under the public eye, took the puppet doll.

The attendant carried the puppet doll off the auction stage, through the corridor, climbed up some stairs, and vanished through a staircase corner from everyone’s field of view.

The auction was paused.

Regardless of whether it was the buyers or auction master, both needed to patiently wait.

The attendant with the puppet doll rang the doorbell to room 21.

After the door opened and Cang Xu inspected its authenticity, both sides did the transaction.

One hand paid the price, the other delivered the goods.

The attendant brought the gold coins down from the second floor and returned to the auction stage, and under everyone’s gaze, squeezed behind a curtain.

“Good, now we can proceed to the auction of the second treasure.” The auction master laughed, “Ladies and gentlemen, please see our second item…”

This was a necessary process for Two Eyes Island’s auction.

At any auction, transactions would be completed on the spot.

This was something Hun Tong specially formulated.

The main consideration was that the buyers here had complex identities, with many of them being pirates. One had to know that they were unlikely to obediently settle accounts, for they were the best at killing and plundering, thus one naturally had to be on guard against them.

If someone didn’t pay, they would be driven away from the auction. If there was a pillaging thief, the auction would stop and the criminal would not only commit an offense against Hun Tong, but also against everyone at the auction.

The auction continued.

Everyone stared at the second item.

It was a infusion bottle. The infusion bottle looked to be made of refined brass, with the bottom of the bottle on top, while the mouth of the bottle was on the bottom. Something was dripping constantly from its mouth.

The auction master presented, “This is a fresh water infusion bottle, of silver level workmanship. When installed, it can absorb water elements from the air and condense it into fresh water. If we imbue it with magic power or fill the bottle with water element crystals, it can produce a large amount of fresh water. With enough magic power, this small hanging bag can meet the daily water needs of 200 people. The starting price is 100 gold coins. Every bid must not be any lower than 10 gold coins, now let the next auction begin!”
