Chapter 117: Gains

The Sweet Blood Potions washed the seas red when they hit the water.

The potions caused more and more ghost face fish to turn around and abandon the difficult-to-bite Iron Club Mercenary Corps and instead pour into the blood red sea.

The ocean surface was ceaselessly boiling, the ghost face fish school was strongly stimulated and were crazily tearing and splashing the water.

Most of the ghost face fish withdrew.

The Iron Club Mercenary Corps’ members resolutely took a breather as the pressure on them plummeted.

“Open fire!” The dragonman youngster had been calmly watching, and when he saw that the ghost face fish school was gathered in one place, he shouted the order.

For a moment, the rumbles of explosions didn’t seem to stop.

The ghost face fish were scattered by the artillery shells and blown apart, causing them to screech miserably again and again.

Commander Tie Bang eliminated two ghosts and repelled the third. He didn’t dare to rest for even a moment as he rushed to the deck, stopping on the side of the ship.

He saw the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps slaughtering the ghost face fish school.

“Isn’t that the Sweet Blood Potion?” Commander Tie Bang’s eyes narrowed.

The first time the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps left port, this potion was subsequently exposed.

Therefore, Commander Tie Bang knew about this potion, but didn’t care about it too much.

Before the Wisteria Shop was slandered, they too had purchased some Green Hat Healing Potions and Sweet Blood Potions, a small contribution to the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ collected funds.

Since they were ambushed, they didn’t have a chance to use the Sweet Blood Potion.

Even if they did use them, they didn’t have many potions on hand and wouldn’t be able to replicate what the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was doing.

“A concentrated usage of Sweet Blood Potion has such a strong medicinal effect! When I return to Two Eyes Island, I must buy much more!” Commander Tie Bang made up his mind on the spot.

The war situation when one was active on the battlefield, compared to when one was passive, was entirely different.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had inferred from behind them, exploited the fish school’s lower intelligence, and after a violent bombardment, had secured a narrow victory.

Anyways, the remaining ghost face fish still had their vicious nature stimulated, and one by one, they rushed out of the bloody seawater and charged at the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

Cang Xu and Zi Di had been prepared for this.

They superficially chanted when in reality, they were using the magic rings on their fingers.

Despite the public eye on them, no one noticed any flaws and they really through these two were fire path magicians.

Fireball spells shot out and blew up flying ghost face fish.

Fire Walls surrounding the hull, and when the ghost face fish took in the flames’ might, they charged at other ships and didn’t dare to jump over the blaze.

Finally, the few remaining ghost face fish chose to flee.

Among them was the only silver level ghost face fish leader.

The Deep Sea Monster Fish was already stealthily moving.

Commander Tie Bang couldn’t help but reveal his envy.

“Oh, that’s right, they have magicians.”

“One iron level, one bronze level.”

“They were just established on Snake Rat Island; they have such great luck for magicians to join them willingly!”

The Iron Club Mercenary Corps didn’t have a single caster.

That was their shortcoming.

As for the Bandage Mercenary Corps, they had one, a mere bronze level. They paled in comparison to the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ lineup.

Recruiting magicians was hard.

Because magicians not only had battle strength, but they could produce things too. The latter point was more crucial and important than the former.

Magicians could make potions, magic items, magic scrolls, etc., they could easily provide for themselves. Even if that weren’t their strong suit, a magician’s foundation of scholarly knowledge could allow them to serve as an aide or an adviser to a feudal lord or other nobles. Alternatively, they could also go into management and serve in administrative roles.

Why should one of them join a mercenary corps and experience a drifting existence?

Of course, the Iron Club Mercenary Corps did have some casting capabilities.

They had some alchemy equipment and magic scrolls.

They also had an external magic adviser.

It was a magician, but they were only moonlighting.

“After I return to Two Eyes Island, I’ll make our magic adviser join us.”

“Even if his price is high.”

“Due to the beast tide, my corps urgently needs casters!”

The battlefield was already tranquil when Commander Tie Bang began to ponder.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ people tossed out fishing nets and lowered landing boats to gather the scattered spoils of war.

“That iron level ghost I repelled didn’t trouble the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.”

Commander Tie Bang felt someone disgusted.

The Iron Club Mercenary Corps had contributed a lot to this battle, and their corps, including the commander, had taken quite the beating, yet in the end, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had easily taken the peach.

But Commander Tie Bang didn’t say anything.

Without their timely assistance, their losses would’ve been greater.

Furthermore, they set up a distress signal and according to the rules, they had to render the other party a reward.

“Assign people to clean up the battlefield. Pay attention to not clash with the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.”

Commander Tie Bang issued the order, then asked the helmsman to sail the Iron Lump near the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ flagship.

Upon being welcomed by the dragonman youngster, he climbed onto the other person’s ship.

The two commanders carried out a simple discussion.

“All these fish belong to you.” Commander Tie Bang treated the ghost face fish as the reward.

The dragonman youngster glanced at Zi Di, and with it, he knew what Zi Di wanted.

Mystifying Monster Island had given the two an unusually close tacit understanding.

Of course, Zi D was the best haggler, but since Commander Tie Bang had come to converse himself, the one who had to act on the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ side was the dragonman youngster.

Anyone else doing it would show contempt for Commander Tie Bang.

In terms of apparent strength, even if the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was stronger, they were at the same level, after all neither were gold level.

The dragonman youngster shook his head, “The ghost face fish are necromantic and water path fish, undead path is troublesome, therefore, these fish corpses aren’t worth much.

Zong Ge couldn’t restrain himself and said to the dragonman youngster, “We need cannons.”

Commander Tie Bang glanced at the half beastman, then nodded to the tall and sturdy human sitting opposite him.

Zong Ge was a silver level like them and was entirely entitled to join the conversation.

The issue Zong Ge brought up was one the dragonman youngster was very familiar with.

Although the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had a gold level cannon, they had no iron level or bronze level ones. Those levels of alchemy cannons were not actually particularly needed.

Because without a cultivator level gunner, a compatible magic power reservoir, and other installations, higher level cannons couldn’t be used.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ greatest deficiency was ordinary level cannons.

The dragonman youngster proposed that the Iron Club Mercenary Corps transfer them some cannons, provided they were ordinary level. The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps would even buy them.

But Commander Tie Bang refused without the slightest hesitation.

With the beast tide imminent, they both needed cannons to handle the beast tide.

The ghost face fish school’s ambush damaged the Iron Club Mercenary Corps greatly. If they traded away their cannons, then their battle strength would plummet.  Commander Tie Bang would be braindead to agree to such a suggestion.

After some deliberation, the two corps reached an agreement.

The Iron Club Mercenary Corps’ freshly hunted narwhals would be the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ reward for aiding them.

The most important part of them was their spiral horns, they were very beautiful and looked like cavalier lances.

Commander Tie Bang repeatedly sighed, forced to give them away before he could warm up to them.

After going through an ambush, he still had to take out most of his capital as compensation. When he thought about that, he couldn’t help but have a headache.

Finally, the dragonman youngster and Commander Tie Bang exchanged some information with each other.

The dragonman youngster didn’t divulge his methods too much, because if he did so, then their powerful information scouting ability would be revealed, subsequently increasing the likelihood the Deep Sea Monster Fish would be exposed.

He could only express his worry about the beast tide as much as possible, guess how big the beast tide would be, and his anxiety about the future.

“No need to be so worried.” Commander Tie Bang didn’t heed the dragonman youngster’s ambiguous warning, and instead comforted the latter, “There have been beast tides in the past, it is very normal.”

“If there wasn’t a necromancer around this year, and if the port wasn’t locked down, we would have noticed this beast tide earlier and have been able to respond better.”

“We have never been the main force that resists the beast tide.”

“The main force is Two Eyes Island’s master and his city guard.”

The dragonman youngster nodded, hiding another misgiving within him.

He thought about Xi Dai Zi and the Vinegar Jar Pirates, suspecting whether this beast tide had fishmen playing tricks behind the scenes.

It was only a possibility, and he couldn’t warn an outsider like Commander Tie Bang of it.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had already informed Hun Tong of the Vinegar Jar Pirates’ attempted invasion of Two Eyes Island. After Hun Tong learned of it, he and the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps signed a magic confidentiality agreement, which stated that both sides would guard this secret tightly and not allow any leaks of it whatsoever.

To the dragonman youngster, it seemed that this was done because Hun Tong chose to temporarily maintain secrecy so that the auction wouldn’t be negatively affected.

Both parties left, and the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps returned from their rewarding journey.

They were the first fleet to return to port.

When they entered the harbor, an official came over to ask about their situation. Soon after, Thief Guild and other information merchants came to purchase first-hand information from the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps began to unload cargo.

Temporary workers were convened from large groups of fishermen and laborers.

Everyone that saw the massive harvest of fish were stupefied.

What happened to the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps?

Was there really a beast tide?

Don’t tell me they ransacked a fish den?

The dragonman youngster left some people behind at the port, and with Fei She in charge, they were responsible for linking up with the marketplace and selling off these fish.

After doing some ship repairs at port, he and his ships all left the harbor once again.

If they hurried up, they could catch some more.

Good chances like this came seldom.

With the Deep Sea Monster Fish providing information, they could stay clear of the main force and strike at weak points, collecting the fruits of victory.

After several days, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps was the harbor’s star.

Every haul they brought back was their maximum capacity.

The profits were gigantic and made many people jealous.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ information gathering abilities were unavoidably revealed.

To deal with this matter, after the dragonman youngster and the others discussed, they deliberately tossed out some alchemy scouting puppets to resolve the suspicions the other powers had of them.

The same day that was revealed, Hun Tong dispatched a trusted aide to board the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps’ ship and discuss arrangements for purchasing the alchemy puppets.

The Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps selectively sold a few to Hun Tong alone.

These alchemy puppets had been modified somewhat and there are already similar types to them in the marketplace. The risk of selling them was minimal to the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps.

As for why the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had these alchemy puppets?

Everyone independently recalled their background.

Arms smugglers.

Thus, this was all reasonable.
