Chapter 105: Fire Ring
Two Eyes Island’s port was locked down, however, on the seafloor under Two Eyes Island, the Deep Sea Monster Fish’s reef disguise was not compromised.
Eight consecutive refinements had been done in its alchemy cabin.
Zi Di was located on one side of the formation while the tower spirit was on the other.
The humming alchemy formation emitted a warm radiance and bathed the entire cabin in a resplendent red light.
The light dissipated, revealing a ring floating above the center of the alchemy formation; it had an iron level aura.
It was a fire ball ring, the joint work of the tower spirit and Zi Di.
Of course, the tower spirit was the main refiner while Zi Di was the assistant.
Even though it was seriously damaged, the tower spirit’s alchemy capabilities still greatly surpassed Zi Di’s, and obviously Cang Xu’s too.
It proved itself as one of War Merchant’s creations.
Zi Di waved, and she used her spiritual control to have the floating fireball ring fly to her hand.
Upon careful examination, the quality was determined to be excellent.
The fireball ring’s refinement method was very simple to understand, however, it was still an iron level magic item and beyond Zi Di’s abilities to refine.
The domain of alchemy was gigantic, and Zi Di had only dipped her toes into the field of medicinal refinement.
The fireball ring had only one function; after being activated, it would shoot a fireball. The ring could shoot three fireballs and is able to shoot a fireball every 30 seconds. After being depleted, it would need to be recharged before further use.
Zi Di tried the ring on her finger.
The size fits.
Naturally, the purpose of using this ring during normal combat was to disguise one’s identity.
Besides this fireball ring, Zi Di also refined a ring of fire ring, a flame jet ring, and a fire wall ring. The first ring discharged a defensive ring of fire, the second could cast the flame jet spell, and the third could cast the fire wall spell.
Along with Fireball spell, these were all standard fire magic.
“It’s a pity that all these fire spells cannot be centralized in one ring. Wearing all four rings at once makes me feel like old money.” Zi Di was somewhat regretful.
It was feasible for four fire magics to be burned into one piece of magic equipment. But that needed alchemy skill, a skill requirement that greatly exceeded the survivors’ current capabilities.
After the refinement was finished, the tower spirit began to clean up the work area and shut down the alchemy formation.
By the time Zi Di finished her study, the tower spirit had already activated the Deceptive Disguise Formation.
The Deceptive Disguise Formation looked a bit different than it did previously.
The formation outermost circle was two meters in diameter. Inside the circle was a square. A line stretched inwards from the square’s four points. Each line intersected with two other lines, flowing together until they formed a slanted small square inside the square.
This was no different from before.
The difference was that there was now a circle inside the small square.
This small addition reformed the Deceptive Disguise Formation.
Before, the Deceptive Disguise Formation could only be used on lifeforms, but after this remodeling, it could not work on things.
Zi Di placed all of the rings she had refined into the center of the formation.
There were eight rings altogether. Four for Zi Di and the other four for Cang Xu.
A moment later, the Deceptive Disguise Formation activated.
The eight rings were all covered by the Deceptive Disguise spell.
Zi Di was tranquil.
This had not been the first time she had succeeded.
Deceptive Disguise was always able to affect objects. The Deep Sea Monster Fish’s preinstalled set of formations had used it to disguise its hull.
Behind these eight rings was Cang Xu’s mask.
He customized this mask to give the pretense of being made of black iron, and it had a striking resemblance to what the black gowned magician wore.
Originally, the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps had a serious lack of alchemy materials.
These alchemy materials all naturally came from Two Eyes Island’s market.
One had to say that the Dragon Lion Mercenary Corps coming to Two Eyes Island was the correct decision. Zi Di and Cang Xu were able to replenish a lot of materials.
Of course, the cost was considerable.
With the money earned from the drug business, that wasn’t a problem.
Zi Di and Cang Xu had made a massive windfall, thus they had the funds to purchase enough alchemy materials.
Zi Di left the alchemy cabin with the eight rings.
Before leaving, she ordered the tower spirit t o keep on refining medicine.
It was to still mainly refine Sweet Blood Potions and Green Hat Potions; however, the scale of refinement was decreased greatly.
The trouble at the pharmacy and numerous rising rumors had cast serious doubts on the Green Hat Healing Potion, causing the sales volume of the potions to greatly drop.
Without a way to solve this problem, Zi Di decided to lower the amount refined.
After Zi Di left the alchemy cabin, she first went to the meditation room.
When she opened the meditation room’s door, she felt a strong energy hitting her.
The ghost girl immediately felt coziness emerging from her innermost self.
In this meditation environment, her cultivation efficiency had greatly improved.
But she didn’t do that.
Although Cang Xu had gathered some necromancy materials, they still had a shortfall, thus, they had to stringently calculate their usage.
A massive ghost floated in the meditation room.
He was fat, dark blue, and most attention grabbing of all, he had two heads.
It was the two headed ogre Lan Lu.
One of Lan Lu’s heads had been removed by Guang Ke, but his soul still had them both.
On Snake Rat Island, when Mo Kong caused havoc on the execution ground, Cang Xu and Zi Di had a chance to call back the soul of the dead Lan Lu.
By some fluke, Zi Di had succeeded, and since then, her battle formation’s strength had risen dramatically with the silver level ghost!
The ghost Lan Lu did not react when he saw Zi Di and floated motionless in the air.
His body appeared translucent, and although his aura was silver level, it was very weak.
He was gravely wounded.
He had been wounded by divine power.
The Running Water God’s sacred emblem that Xi Dai Zi wore was the main culprit.
Currently, necromancy had the advantage of being a new path over other magic schools and alchemy.
The most effective way to deal with necromancy was divine spells.
There was only one reason – divine power was omnipotent.
Gods were omnipotent, so too was divine power.
But each god’s strong points were different, and there were distinct differences between every large religion.
After inspecting him, Zi Di lightly sighed.
The ghost Lan Lu had been recovering here at a slow rate, his injuries had not shown any clear improvements.
“If only I had a soul crystal.”
“That custom-made soul crystal is very pure. It would greatly help Lan Lu’s injuries.”
“It would also be effective in my cultivation.”
The ghost Lan Lu could eat souls.
This was the instinct of all ghosts and could maintain their existence.
However, devouring souls brought evil consequences. It would pollute a ghost with foreign memories and feelings. If too much of t hose accumulated, the ghost would likely dissolve into nothingness by itself.
As far as Zi Di was concerned, Lan Lu devouring souls would increase her burden of control.
She already found it difficult to control a silver level ghost.
After all, she was only a bronze level necromancer.
What truly was helping her was her iron level spiritual power.
Zi Di closed the meditation room’s door tightly, then went to another cabin to find Cang Xu.
Cang Xu was currently using the memory transformation device.
Zi Di had used this alchemy device to extract Zhen Jin’s memories, make a memory crystal, and used it to make the dragonman youngster think he was a templar knight for a time.
“Spare me, please spare my life. I am willing to defect!” A thin person struggled in a daze.
But he had already been drugged and lacked the energy to move.
Cang Xu used the most lukewarm tone he could, “Don’t be tense, if I wanted to kill you, I would have done so on Two Eyes Island.”
“As we agreed, you will relax as much as possible.”
“If you cooperate properly, there is hope of being returned alive.”
“I understand, I understand…” The thin person’s tears splattered, hope and pleading filled his face.
Upon seeing Zi Di arrive, Cang Xu nodded to her, then formally activated the alchemy device.
The thin person immediately screamed, “Hurts, it hurts!”
“My head hurts!”
“Relax, don’t resist. The more you resist, the worse you’ll feel!” Cang Xu grumbled, he looked serious.
The thin person’s eyes widened, and his limbs twitched like he was being electrocuted, “Let me go, let me go…”
Ding.
A moment later, his head seemed to explode like a watermelon smashing into the ground from a tall building.
The red blood and white brain matter splashed everywhere.
Zi Di dodged it and wasn’t touched. Cang Xu was standing too close and was covered in blood and brains.
Cang Xu was unconcerned and apathetic.
He took off his glasses, wiped it clean, then put it back on.
“Like I said, as long as the target doesn’t want it, you cannot use this alchemy device to extract their memories.” Said Zi Di.
Cang Xu faintly nodded, “To gain a deeper understanding, one must test it and see it with their own eyes.”
“I won’t elaborate. Since the body is still warm, I will recall their soul.”
Cang Xu then used the Soul Summoning spell.
The thin person’s soul was successfully summoned and became a bronze level ghost in Cang Xu’s troops.
“Although its intelligence is pretty good, its potential is lacking. It is possible to cultivate it to the iron level, but that would waste too many resources and not be worth the price.” Cang Xu examined it, then issued his verdict.
He continued to interrogate the ghostly thing person.
Because he had just died and was successfully summoned back, the ghostly thin person retained many of his memories and his mood as he died.
He was very scared of Cang Xu, and as long as he knew, he would tell it to Cang Xu.
However, he didn’t know much.
He wasn’t part of the Imperial Secret Spy Agency, rather he had been personally developed by the imperial secret spies after they arrived at Two Eyes Island.
To maintain secrecy, the imperial secret spies didn’t tell the thin person the truth.
The thin person was completely in the dark, and really thought that they were selling out the interest of humanity and selling information to pirate groups.
“This loathsome power has been hiding in secret for many years, yet Feudal Lord Hun Tong hasn’t noticed them, they really cannot be looked down on.” Cang Xu sighed.
Zi Di followed up, “I’m more curious as to why this group of people caused an artificial commotion in front of the store and smeared our healing potions.”
While she said that, Zi Di gave the four fire path rings to Cang Xu.
As Cang Xu put on the rings, he said, “Hun Tong will help us investigate who these people are and what their goals are.”
Zi Di chucked, “I have to say, your improvised stratagem of acting as the black gowned magician really was a wonderful idea.”
